This will be a big help loading my battery powered trike onto my pickup. The system makes a lot of sense for someone who has a lot of battery powered tools like me. Thanks for the tips!

That would be better if i can fabricate a chain saw motor to it. I might have to get one and see if it can be done.

Does Home Depot sell steel cable that could be used in a come-along? I need to replace some in one I bought at a garage sale. Should I go with the synthetic winch rope?

Can you reverse the drill to power lower a load? If you pull something up a tree you also need to be able to lower it without dropping it.

Adding a snatch block will increase pulling power depending on the number of pulleys, however, the weight capacity of the cable is still only 500 pounds. Only way to change that would be a stronger cable.
@Kovaray
@Kovaray 2 ай бұрын
That's wrong. The capacity of the rope will be doubled in a 2 part line.

Can you un-spool the cable by flipping a lever or something, or do you have to use a drill and spend 5 minutes un-spooling 30 feet?

Worth replacing the cable in the future with Dyneema. Just as strong, wont cut you and wont slice you up if it breaks under load. About its only fault is that it will wear if constantly rubbing on something.

Careful. A winch is not a hoist. A hoist has a much bigger safety margin built in.

You really need to give us a better sense of how long it takes to winch something. Of course a drill can winch anything with enough gear reduction, but POWER is work/time, meaning you can do the same amount of work over a longer time, which is what the drill is doing since drills can do , what, maybe at most about 100-150Watts of power continous, being generous. So, it will take some time to pull that log
