I’m currently on my first week out of two traveling in Guatemala and I LOVE IT. Started in Guatemala City, then made my way to el Peredon, and celebrated new years in Antigua and currently back In Guatemala City for a day before going to antitlan. Needless to say, it’s been an amazing trip so far and this is my first international travel🙌🏽 HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Not entirely as you mention. Perhaps mainly touristic areas such as the ones visited in this video are safer. Crime is very bad in the capital of Guatemala, it still has some of the most dangerous areas within cities of Latin America. Knowing where to visit and which places to avoid is highly recommended. Lifetime Guatemalan here.

Fair play on travelling to Guatemala City, it's not the easiest place for travellers compared to Atitlan and Antigua. Hahaha i restocked my wardrobe in the Paca shops 😅 the ones in Xela are the best

You have to watch out in that square. I was warned not to be there after 7 pm. And my old hostel mate, like 60 years old, was robbed by 5 men coming home from there. And the idiot had $1000 usd in his money belt. 4 guys held him, by each arm and leg, and the fifth patted him down and took the money from his belt. Around 8 pm just around the corner from there.
