If your game studio has 250 people working on a game, and you need to bring in outside consultants for the story (or any aspect of the game) that means you have a bunch of people whom you don’t need on staff. It’s ridiculous a studio that large needs to bring in outside consultants. You should have staff members dedicated to the task that you’re bringing in consultants for. If I’m a producer and my story writers, on a 250 member development studio, comes to me saying, “sir, we need help on the story, we need to hire a consultant”, I’m saying: “well then why did I hire you?”
