This was chosen for the annual Royal Command Film Performance. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were guests of honor. Despite a last-minute panic that they would be offended by scenes of Elizabeth's ancestor, George III, going crazy, the royal couple took it graciously. The picture, which Granger disliked, marked the end of his superstardom in the early 1950s. He was one of the last British male leads groomed in Hollywood; others such as Dirk Bogarde and Laurence Harvey never made it, while the two Anglo marquee giants who emerged later- Sean Connery and Michael Caine- did not need the dying studio system.

You haven't seen the right old movies. This was not considered good when it was released.

What? This was amazing as do most of granger's films, so I highly disagree with you. Most films today suck!
