I was born in 1945 and saw it when it first came out. Good movie!

One of my favorite war films. I feel so bad that none of the Japanese soldiers will see their homeland and families. I let some friends barrow this film and they felt so sad too for the Japanese. My late father and I didn't know why the fisherman didn't use his fishing spier against the shark.
This is my first encounter with the movie, The Truth is Ended. And it is very much impressive to me. Thanks a lot for posting this.

I believe I know why Lt. Kuroki did that at 9:20 to 9:28, he realized the truce had taken effect on him, now he knows killing his enemies would be pointless just like war. So before he dies he used the last of his strength to lift the machine gun in the air and fire the last of the bullets until it was empty. That's my opinion why he did that.
I Want a Movie Like This with American & Japanese United Against a Predator.

Plenty of them Imperials WERE predators… I don’t think the stories of what the GIs saw what the Japanese did to the girls wherever they went got passed down. Just overshadowed by Iwo Jima. Good movie nonetheless.

Although I haven't watched this video before it's clearly evident that this is in the PACIFIC, and the Japanese commander has already accepted defeat, same can be said about the situation in Europe with the German soldiers knew that the end was near,but the biggest difference between Germany and Japan was that the Japanese people were a very proud type of country, as they didn't think that they could be defeated and as America kept on pushing the Japanese to their homeland, after the war, there were Japanese soldiers who didn't accept their lost,and stayed hidden in jungles throughout the PACIFIC, it's a known fact, sad,but very true. Very good video though.

Back in the 70's here in the Philippines, at the small island of Lubang, the Japanese straggler Lt. Hiroo Onoda was discovered. He thought that the war is still ongoing for 30 years before being convinced that it is over when his former superior was brought in by the authorities to relieve him of his duties.

Impressed that some of the Japanese soldiers had big beer bellies while most of the American GIs were pretty lean.
@keegantripp1245Күн бұрын
Could have been a form of jungle disease(I heard one where someone looks well fed but in reality they’re sick and probably won’t survive long) or it could have been a mistake on the casting process as they may have used old war footage and saw multiple dead Japanese with what looks like beer bellies but was actually the maggots and larvae from flies. The reason the Americans are so lean and fit is pretty straightforward as most who joined up survived Great Depression America and with little food they all became relatively healthy and just needed a constant food source to turn from a scrawny kid into a lean mean Marine. Also most of those that worked on the film plus the actors had family who fought in the war would be able to get their side of it down fairly easily.

One of my favorites as a kid. The last mini firefight still holds up. But the movie had weird things. Too much melodrama. Ir scenes that made no sense. The black marine? That wasn't a thing in that time period. In other support units? Yes. But not infantry. And the Japanese soldier running out in the beach and throwing the grenade into the boat? Dude threw it farther than a modern baseball outfielder. Lol. I would love to see a remake where it's more grounded.
