I heard this song in 1992 and related to it. I was adopted at birth in 1965 and some of my aunts and uncles reminded me that I was not blood. I was expected to adhere to what I was told to do.By the time I was in my early 20's my father was reminding me I wasn't blood. He was old enough to be my grandfather. They were a Louisiana southern family. As long as I played by the rules, it was okay, When I got into my teens and beyond and tried to have my own thoughts, I was a cast away.

LYRICS New blood joins this earth, And quickly he's subdued. Through constant pained disgrace The young boy learns their rules. With time the child draws in. This whipping boy done wrong. Deprived of all his thoughts The young man struggles on and on he's known A vow unto his own, That never from this day His will they'll take away. What I've felt, What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown. Never be. Never see. Won't see what might have been. What I've felt, What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown. Never free. Never me. So I dub thee unforgiven. They dedicate their lives To running all of his. He tries to please them all - This bitter man he is. Throughout his life the same - He's battled constantly. This fight he cannot win - A tired man they see no longer cares. The old man then prepares To die regretfully - That old man here is me. What I've felt, What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown. Never be. Never see. Won't see what might have been. What I've felt, What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown. Never free. Never me. So I dub thee unforgiven. [Solo] What I've felt, What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown. Never be. Never see. Won't see what might have been. What I've felt, What I've known Never shined through in what I've shown. Never free. Never me. So I dub thee unforgiven. Never free. Never me. So I dub thee unforgiven. Not MY favorite band or anything, but it’s almost hard to believe that Metallica has achieved what they have. They’re such a phenomenon and have contributed to music in no different a fashion or scope than Mozart or Liszt did during their own times, I’ll give them that simply cuz they have it due to them. So I would also have to say there’s no peaking involved. They reached legendary status across generations and will never even qualify to be “passed their peak” or no longer “in.” There’s no falling from where they have reached. And I don’t know many other bands who reached such a height. Obviously Beatles did, Fleetwood Mac definitely did, heck they were going strong after seven decades and just last year lossy their first band mate. There’s no possible way Metallica won’t do the same. They’re one of the only bands that came out of their time that everyone on earth under 75 years old knows and recognizes. They enjoy the recognition the world over amongst their contemporaries only surpassed by the Jackson’s. I’m not entirely sure, you’d have to ask their fans but this song is surely in the running for the band’s magnum opus, as Nothing Else and others. Their songs couldn’t unseat Stairway or anything as far as thee quintessential rock song, but they definitely have some pieces that will join the timeless classics. So again, I don’t think after achieving all they have that such a band really qualifies to have a peak and a fall from high.

This song rings true for so many. I guess it was my story. Abused mentally and physically as a little girl with heavily religious upbringing, suffering a trauma induced disability for 30 years. Now I'm older and wiser experiencing self acceptance and not tolerating ANY toxic behavior. ❤ Faith, hope, love, and Truth are life to me.

I think what artists today fail to realize is how effective real instruments are. I like all kinds of music, but I miss the feeling of rock and metal from this time. Whether it be the rage of the drums, or the plucking of my soul when an awesome guitar solo is being played. An instrument conveys the emotion of the person playing it better than any electronic sample can. The instruments are the windows to an artist's soul, and that's why some performances of songs are better than others, because you can feel the emotion of the artist through the instrument they're playing.

you just have to be more opened about the other things. Like I also feel super connected when I can hear the little mistakes or the little details that a human has on a guitar. But electronic music can easily convey beautiful emotions as well, u just have to look at different things.
@Starlesslight7 жыл бұрын
I don't have a problem with electronic music. I listen to plenty of it. The 90's actually had the best techno/electronic music in my opinion. I grew up in the 80's though, when there was a wide variety of music on the billboard music charts. Some was all electronic, some used all instruments, some used both. I just feel like very little to no popular music today utilizes all real instruments for their music. I miss the hair band and heavy metal sounds that existed in the 80's. I miss the love songs from back then too. Popular radio music just seems to be much less diverse now.

This song is special for everyone like myself born with a disability. I've spent most of my youth in hospitals, doctors deciding over what needed to happen, what I should and couldn't do. They said i'd never walk and would die young. I worked really hard to prove them wrong and learned to walk and didn't die young. But most of the things I worked hard for to be able to do, i also lost again over the years. And because they said I would die young they said I shouldn't make it hard for me at school and pick an easy direction, I basicly had no say in that, and if I tried it ended in an argument real fast. All that left me quite a bitter man that never really let shine through what he really knows, who he really is.

This song changed my life. I was a lost teen, wasnt sure where i belonged, i didnt really have much in common with my friends except 1. I was listening to the radio, to a station i never played before and i heard James' voice. From there i learned more about me and what i liked. I branched out more, met different people, had tremendous experiences. From this one song. ❤

Jamie Koering he’s an amazing guitarist but he just uses too much wah and makes half good sometimes plain bad solos nowdays and even during the recording of the song bob rock had to really squeeze that solo out of him he can’t do solo with emotion and feel anymore. I know he doesn’t deserve the hate from people but I do see why they think he’s bad but he just needs solos This good then perhaps he won’t be overlooked.

OK I’ve been playing drums since 1986 because of megadeth&Metallica Master of puppets .MASTER master…… I was on my way to work one day sat on the toilet and the radio sitting on the tank behind me was turned down low The unforgiven And it’s on that Mountain station and they play every day and every time I listen to it I think it’s Hetfield but I think it’s also Me, its you,it is very profound, where we are, Sometimes I break down into a hysterical cry when I read the lyrics or just listen to it at the right move it it’s just every time but I finally listen to it you know what I mean I’m a musician and i write my own music Hetfield proves it right there when it’s really personal, the music comes out powerful & strong it shows how everybody’s attitude was on here, even messages, just a bunch of sweet chaps) that’s obviously Hetfield is the old man right everyone. What a bunch of great nice messages from people on here It >Hetfield is quite,¥The song writer.~ PEACE…!

New blood joins this earth, And quickly he's subdued. It's good to notice that the old guard of 90s metal bands have made some everlasting classical music tracks that will stand the test of time. It's always great when you have experienced culture on a certain level as teenager and that level was correct all along. I genuinely think that today's poopular bands and lists are so forgettable, I mean this was mainstream on MTV, 90s metal broke through some barriers and set the tone for future bands to follow. It's interesting to see if we both manage to stay alive another 40 years are those Katey Parreys and more forgettable poeple still on radio. I think radio will prevail over some tunes people are listening today...
