We all knew VPN’s wouldn’t work as defined, but they allow you to ghost until they need to find you. It has a purpose still and I recommend it

VPN’s don’t stop ISP’s from checking what you’re streaming. Don’t use one. Never have.

It doesn't stop them checking no, but if you have/had a VPN connected, the ISP won't actually be able to check anything, as there won't be any activity there for them to dig down to, other than a connection to the VPN server. A reputable VPN that doesn't keep logs will also not be able to see this activity as it would be cleared (especially as most run on RAM only servers which get flushed routinely.
