I just go by the attributes since I go solely by combat rating. Since Blizz hasn't explained their scoring system and upgrade arrows which those that are math nerds would love to learn so they could plunk the numbers and figure it out for themselves. We have to figure it out by looking at each piece and seeing if the attributes are higher or not.

Your first example has an additional factor affecting its rating - the equipped amulet has one less socket for gems. The problem is the combat rating system as a whole.

Very important point about prioritizing damage and life stats rather than CR for your PVP build. Made a noticeable difference to drop 102 CR but pick up boosts in those two areas. As always, thanks for sharing with us all

Biggest ones I find are yellow rings. I found a 50/53 stats ring that didn't have any arrows. But was obv better than the 48/46 I had on. It increased my cr nearly 10 pts on a 3200 cr (2100reso) character

As a F2P player this just completely changed my experience. I was struggling at 1900cr trying to get CR60 done and I couldnt do H3 content even though Im paragon 110. I was feeling hopeless. Legit just swapped two set items for YELLOWS and jumped 200cr.... thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this video!!!!!

This is why I never go off just combat rating Warhammer 40k Inquisitor did the opposite it would count just the Stat upgrades and ignore special effect which at end game become the dominant thing for equipment

Thanks for the video.. and yes, I noticed that last night. Score is NOT a good indicator to something that will give you a CR boost. Look at the base stats and number of magic items. Nothing else matters. MAGIC CAN BE CHANGED... with reforge. So, don't think that matters.

I just don't worry much about 1 and 2 green arrows. When it's a 3 or a 4 arrow, it's usually good.

I noticed this awhile ago. Some more than a few legendaries will have a lower "score" but when equipped boost my CR by 20 or higher. I think the magic attributes are taken into consideration, only thing that makes sense for gear with lower stats but higher CR.

This has always been so confusing to me. I noticed this a while back when I’m as literally switching between 2 pieces of gears and each time I equipped one the other had an arrow on it so I equipped the original and the other one now had an arrow on it lol. Good info. I’ve been researching the item set differences this past week and can’t seem to mail a single upgraded piece. All same or lower. I am happy to report that my F2P (mostly except for Battle pass for badass cosmetics) Demon Hunter gameplay has improved with both practice and vigorously testing all sets, and the War Rags of Shalba’as are definitely the go-to set. Side note: discovered 2 set Shalba’as and 2 Set Grace of Flagellant makes a WICKED combo for early gameplay at low level. All credit goes to you hardworking content creators that I get to learn from and apply in my own gameplay fashion. Keep up the awesome work! 😎👍

People MUST know that: 1) Combat Rating from items is simply the sum of all primary stats on gear, nothing else. 2) the Green Arrows are solely based on the 'score' of the item, which is determined by some proprietary algorithm taking into account secondary affixes and gem slots.

You should also probably mention that CR is sometimes better than having complete green sets, sometimes I'll break a set and lose my bonus to equip something that'll give me 100 more CR.

Your examples were bad, but you're correct. I had a paragon lvl 6 item, triple stat triple affix and no piece ever gave me a green arrow even with 100 more CR.

I love your content and I mean no disrespect saying this but this should have been common sense on day one for EVERYONE who has ever played a Diablo game. Up to 60 and beyond until you're fully decked in leggo's, you equip whatever but once you are at a point where you know what you need you don't ever go by the green arrows(score) rating anymore. It's blizzards way of helping those who are new, get a feel for what is 'better' when in the end for any Diablo player we know that stats are everything so it comes down to what you're losing compared to what you're gaining. If you're gaining 2 CR or even 4 CR but losing a large chunk like going from STR/INT to something else(you lose a lot of dmg) that the 2CR isn't making up for(yet its green arrows with score rating higher for the extra CR but not worth it. Weird right?). Go by the attributes it offers and the magic bonuses you get on the piece. That 2 to 3 CR may look lovely but its actually WORSE compared to what you're giving up for it. I stopped paying attention to that rating after 60 and I obtained all the pieces I need (going from yellow to leg). Once again, no disrespect towards you my guy but in the end it's always based on the overall benefit factor. Don't go by the rating. I know lots will argue that CR is everything, it plays 90% of the role in a lot but gaining one or two isn't worth giving up a large chunk of your damage for. Bigger CR jumps are worth it. Hope this helps!

The only thing that mattera is CR. For each piece of gear the CR is the sum of the stats on the gear. 77+78 stats = 155 CR from that piece. 98+99 = 197 CR from that piece. Nothing else matters. It's nice to have strength and vitality but not at the cost of lower CR. Always switch to CR view, equip piece, if it increases CR then good, else scrap

DM, you need to suggest to them about having a stash for each class. The problem I am having after the transfer is keeping my crusader gear from my main. The only place to hold my necro gear is on my personal. Make is so if you transfer to monk you start with a empty monk stash,and so on.

Nice info, and I can say - Lucky you..As a F2P player my P104 DH cant do even Rank 9 gear due to lack of legs. I'm jjust not getting legs and thats it. Not 3*** - even normal legendary, they just dont fell. Think Blizzard needs to serious kick the ass of the game devs. Just think why you dont see monks and demon hunters at the game.

The only reason you get a green arrow is because the SCORE is higher. Typically that means the piece is better, but not always. The game doesn’t take into account stats or magical bonuses. Saying that, however, the score usually is higher because the stats are better.

Nothing matters more in this game then combat rating ! Yes, going for better attributes has his benefits, but ultimately if you are stuck with your CR, and you have to decide either to keep the better attributes with better magic or the overall better CR but with not so god stats, go for the last one. Ultimately is very frustrating when you have to make such decisions. PS: If you want to do a lot of pvp, than go for stats :)

Yeah I always check that but the game checks score as an upgrade when combat rating is the most important thing in the game.

What i do is if the item raises my CR then I'll equip it. I don't care if it's not a set item. I figured it out when I was trying to hold onto the Shepperd set item for Necro.

Useful tip: sometimes visibly better item can still be worse. Chance for critical, base dmg and dmg for critical are often more important then 50-80 combat rating etc.

I encounter same scenario... i have a double arrow up for my new loots legendary.. but the time i equip it.. it lowers my CR.... and sometimes double arrow but +2 only in CR... you really need to try everytime .. if the stats is almost identical.. or if your in doubt....

I wanna say never had cr dictate my gear decisions, so when I do battlegrounds and inspect everyone's gear I've noticed huge cr but very low life/damage stats. The only thing I might be over looking is maybe their going for a willpower build or something? You know for high dot damage? But even then my willpower would still be higher many times. I'm convinced some ppl dont actually realize there's a 10% cr cap in pvp.

Any diablo 1/2/3 player or any mmorph actually... Knows this.. As an example.. u may be a wizard and ur dmg comes from spamming abilities, and u may get a weapon with +10% atack speed which would do much more dmg if u basic attack, but actually.. that attribute is useless to u, cause u need cooldown reduction, not atk speed...
