DHL does exactly the same thing. I sent 3 mobile phones from the UK to Ghana by DHL. Paid for all the duty. When the parcel arrived in Ghana a family member had to pay extra duty which was quite substantial. I sent them the money because it was to costly. I complained to DHL and they were extremely apologetic but informed me that every country has it’s own policy. I don’t blame DHL, I blame Ghana’s corruption. Apparently, I required a customs officer who needed paying🙄 The money I spent could have bought me another high end budget mobile phone. My brother sent a mobile phone to Rwanda and paid for all the costs and duty. When his friend collected the phone, there were no extra costs. Ghana is it’s own worst enemy. Many countries want to invest in Ghana but are deterred because of corruption. It really is soul destroying.

@@michaelmarvinafriyie7433 It’s a real eye opener, I feel your pain. Unfortunately, DHL in America doesn’t have any jurisdiction over DHL in Ghana. God bless guys greatly!! for being so honest, straightforward, and informative on how there are thieves no matter where you go. I feel awfully sad for anyone who has to use that "Crooked Company" They need to be put out of business. Does a BBB Better Business Bureau exist there?!
@juliekailihiwa8150 Жыл бұрын
BBB is also a huge scam based on paid fees by those who want to be given the BBB. Stay clear of anything BBB awarded.

Are the goods subject to Duty? Check with the revenue authority. If yes, see whether it's worth paying the duty. if this was Kenya, I would be confident a bribe was required to release your package
@ExpatLifeGhana3 жыл бұрын
@Jennifer Mbogo -They shouldn't be subject to an extra duty and thanks for the comment 😊!
