DHL does exactly the same thing. I sent 3 mobile phones from the UK to Ghana by DHL. Paid for all the duty. When the parcel arrived in Ghana a family member had to pay extra duty which was quite substantial. I sent them the money because it was to costly. I complained to DHL and they were extremely apologetic but informed me that every country has it’s own policy. I don’t blame DHL, I blame Ghana’s corruption. Apparently, I required a customs officer who needed paying🙄 The money I spent could have bought me another high end budget mobile phone. My brother sent a mobile phone to Rwanda and paid for all the costs and duty. When his friend collected the phone, there were no extra costs. Ghana is it’s own worst enemy. Many countries want to invest in Ghana but are deterred because of corruption. It really is soul destroying.

@@sarahashun1180 I do not buy that explanation, you don't pay the. " receiving country duty" at the time you ship the packages fwiw. Or at least I never seen that in the 15 years that I have had my DHL account. Are you sure UK did not have some type of duty or custom fees or sometime referred as import taxes that are applied at the shipper ?

@@michaelmarvinafriyie7433 It’s a real eye opener, I feel your pain. Unfortunately, DHL in America doesn’t have any jurisdiction over DHL in Ghana. The three packages that arrived I was charged an additional $100 US dollars with the so-called duty tax and my wife did not get a receipt it was just money given to the person at the window accra downtown office. 🤬🤬. They believe that racism exists in America but because they have never experienced it first hand America is the best place for them to live after all they live in a very peaceful neighbourhood and never been stopped nor harassed by the police all their lives. They believe America is now their home and have no intentions of returning to Africa. So I think it depends on one's experiences really.

I had the receipt saying that this was already done prior to shipping. I have received a parcel from Ghana to the UK via DHL, I paid for shipping and everything but when it got to the UK I was prompted by DHL that I have to pay for custom fee. I don't know about that storage fee you paid that is definitely a scam.
