The technicians that came out are correct in what they've said about the lights. If you read terms and conditions, it should say Any aftermarket parts need to be removed prior to work commencing. And that they will not be responsible for damages. Could be easily resolved by the light installers fitting a connector plug so it's easily disconnected. On the plus side they should now be able to fit a connecter so you won't have the issue again.

It's mental how they think they can get with that. I would be requesting compensation for getting the mats valeted and the wiring redone at a minimum. Report them to Trading Standards too so then they are known by them in case they get reported for something like this again or have done similar in the past.

I used to fit windscreens before I was an HGV driver and 75% of fitters didn’t care at all, bit like the trucking community really. Anyway, hope you get it all sorted, bit of a pain in the back side but sure you’ll get it done pretty speedy.

In my previous job we used National windscreen at one point. They were not the best at commercial windscreens. We then went to Nationwide Windscreens who use local independent companies, who were brilliant

Nationwide windscreens own all the other companies they send out, it started off as allscreens and then the owner started nationwide which bought all the little struggling companies out.

National Windscreens are an awful company. Their Kings Lynn depot fitted a fixed side window for me, they stuck the window in at a strange angle, used too much adhesive so the trim would not go back on and also got adhesive all over my trim. They refused to rectify and said I would have to pay them again if I wanted it fitting properly. Their HQ then closed my complaint without notice. So I had to get Barclaycard involved who did a charge back against National Windscreens.

Spot on Becky. I had a windscreen fitted by that company and it leaked. Came back two times to fix it. But to late when the car was so wet inside. Had to have new carpet and sound dudding behind the dashboard because it smelled so bad. COWBOYS

It's a fact with a truck you ll get through several windscreens and it's a pain nowadays with them being bonded in making it a job for professional fitters I've had bad experiences myself over the years and replacement screens are never as good as the original one.

Wouldn't use anybody apart from Autoglass for Windscreen repairs and for the size of crack you had they wouldn't have replaced the Windscreen they would have used residue and reasealant to fix it then put new film over it they wouldn't even have been inside the truck and it would have only took them about a Hour they fixed mine like that and my crack was right across the Windscreen after I hit it with the digger bucket

Sorry that this happened to you Becky. I would talk to a solicitor and see if it's possible to recover some money back that you had to outlay because of Chris cutting all your lights wiring. You may be able to charge for lost work as well.

I think you should complain to whoever wired your lights up and ask why they didn't fit a plug so that when your windscreen needs replacing wires wouldn't need cutting granted your cab should have been sheeted up, fitting a windscreen is not as simple as people think these days,aftermarket lights are a pita to work around ,unfortunately windscreen fitters are under the kosh from the moment they start till there finished times don't allow for extras like re connecting aftermarket lights ,dashcams,etc but are still expected by customers to do it without any extra charges,I'm not saying your wrong in your expectations ,and also not saying you are wrong ,I'm guessing your yard where the job was done is not a nice clean tarmac area fitters won't remove there boots to climb in your cab they have a job to do and a time slot to do it unfortunately he didn't complete to your satisfaction but slating a company for 1 job is a bit extreme I think Don't tar us all with the same brush I'm a 34 Yr veteran fitting screens,the job is far from what it was when I started,I know your truck is your second home unfortunately Chris doesn't that's on him and the branch he works from so not saying your wrong but 2 sides to every story

I could tell you a few things about them as well.... lost our work to a local agent Steve Windscreens, same day or next latest and never have a issue. Still waiting for National to attend to a truck screen from 8 months ago that was booked in 😂😂

Take them to trading standards. They would sort it straight away to avoid bad reputation trust me a garage tried blaming me for a ruined drive shaft and they was the last ones to touch it. I told them the car stays on the ramps till you fix it,they soon sorted it when you mention trading standards to them or weights and measures 😀

Pardon my ignorance but why would they need to cut wires to replace a windscreen ? Have you got them taped to the inside of the glass or something 😂😂 I think a lorry is about the only thing I haven’t done any electrical work on.

Terrible service, but when you get the lights re-wired get them to put a plug in so they can be disconnected next time you have a windscreen fitted. Had exactly the same thing with National Windscreens.

So I’m not sticking up for the fitters who came to your truck , but there is good and bad in every company so saying that national windscreens as a whole are sexist isn’t politicaly correct. No before people say I don’t work for NW , been there done that . From a professional point of view what the techs should have done is when arrived , advised you that because you had aftermarket parts fitted then it is down to yourself to remove these parts before any work is undertaken. Yes a massive fault on their behalf for not doing this . Walk off the job and come back when these things have been removed . NW don’t provide care equipment either so another fault on their behalf but you cannot expect a fitter to remove their boots when entering a truck all the time . They’re in and out for the whole duration of the job. Faults on both sides of the table here I would say. The company hasn’t long been brought out so it sounds on the grapevine that it’s a bit up in the air all over at the minute . On a brighter note. Your truck is a smashing looking piece of kit by the way

Hope you billed national window screens for the cleaning of your mats as I would done aswell as the cost of the cables that was cut unnecessarily and reinserting the rubber shield back on the window, had that of been me in your situation I’d of kicked off aswell and demanded that he stopped wat he was doing and get another fitter out to you straight away, and not even let him do the job in the first place, any more issues with national can’t be arsed windscreens, just mention you’ll see them in court for costs and damages that was avoidable, as anyone working on someone’s else property should respect it regardless of the condition or the contents, like me if I have dirty boots i always make sure that they are either cleaned before entering a property or vehicle, got protective covers over them or even out mats down so don’t ruin any mats already down, and should any of the mud or dirt reach your mats I’d do the decent thing and brush it down after words. Also next time you need a windscreen doing better of calling Gavin from auto glass, he fixes all cracks in except Katie price’s as that beyond filling not repairing 😂😂
