WARNING: New Fraud Scheme Involving Samsung Pay and Other Mobile Wallets

Fraudsters tried to scam me but I recognized the red flags...will you?
Be very careful, especially with this new scam which will allow the fraudsters to use your card even AFTER you cancel it.

Good on you for paying attention. Someone just tried something almost identically with me. They almost got me, but I noticed he was speaking with a “scammy” urgency in his voice, and when he texted me the code to “deactivate the Samsung Pay account”, I knew it was off. I didn’t give him the code and told him I would hang up and call the bank back myself with the number on the back of my card. He said that my bank would not be responsible for the payment going through (he was trying to scare me), but I just hung up and called my bank, who verified that it was not them who tried calling. NEVER SHARE TEXTED CODES OVER THE PHONE, PEOPLE! And it never hurts to tell the person who calls you that you are hanging up and calling them back with the number that you have.

Same thing happened to me today. Perp trying to use Samsung Pay wallet to get money out of an ATM in Tucker, GA.

Thank you for sharing. Gotta stay vigilant, always confirm it's really who they say it is. Tell them let's do this in person at the bank see what they say!
