QR codes are everywhere, and criminals have found a way to exploit them. Approach with caution and know what to look out for.

Last week a random guy at a grocery parking lot approached me with a a big QR code on printed paper tapped to a clip board. He asked me if I would scan the code to see if I was a registered voter. I told him to scram.

during the worst of covid many restaurants stopped using menus and forced you to use QR codes. I took a few cruises and they made you use QR codes unless you asked for a real menu. Many older people who did not carry smart phones had problems.

Some of the restaurants and stores has apps so you don't have to go through a QR code.

Hey Clark how about first explaining what "QR" means? Assume "Quick Reference" ? I was always taught not to use codes or abbreviations without first explaining what they are to help the other person comprehend what you are trying to communicate. Thanks for the warning. Great segment!

There are food businesses that are using little table top kiosk. There is a server that seats you and shows you the kiosk and how to use it. Then you simply order and pay there as well. Pretty good!

So you think. It can send instructions to your phone to give someone permission to access to your phone without you knowing whenever they want. Even legit businesses do this. They can now read your text messages, etc. Consider doing a factory reset your phone to be safe.

How about Walmart gas stations where Walmart+ members have to scan a code on the pump to get their discount? Easy to fake and even when legitimate, it may not work while a line of customers behind you are blowing their horns because you are taking too long.

Why is it poor customer service? Customer parked, didn't pay, boot service provider attached boot then removes it after all services are paid for. You can't expect to get free parking or the boot provider to work for free. It now becomes incumbent on the garage to inform customers AND patrol their own signage for accuracy.
