#prostatecancer #symptoms #nucleus
You or someone you care about has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. This video will help you understand how prostate cancer affects your body. The prostate is a gland in men that makes part of the fluid in semen. It's found just under the bladder in front of the last part of the large intestine, called the rectum. The prostate wraps around part of the urethra, which is the tube that passes urine and semen out of the body. Most prostate cancer starts in tiny sacs within the gland that make prostatic fluid. Here, cancer cells form from gland cells that line the sacs. Over time, the cancer cells can multiply and form a malignant or cancerous tumor. However, most prostate cancer grows more slowly than other types of cancer. An important risk for prostate cancer is age. Prostate cancer is more common in men over the age of 65. Race is another risk factor. Prostate cancer is more common in African American men than in any other race. The risk is also higher in men whose relatives, such as a father or brother, have a history of prostate cancer. There are usually no symptoms in early prostate cancer. However, as the tumor enlarges the prostate, you may have the following symptoms-- difficulty starting urination; weak, interrupted, or painful urination; needing to urinate frequently, especially at night; painful ejaculation; problems getting an erection; blood in urine or semen; and pain or stiffness in the lower back, hips, or pelvis. Note that these symptoms may be caused by prostate enlargement that is not cancer. If you have prostate cancer, your doctor will need to determine the grade and the stage, or progression, of the disease. Each grade is based on how normal the prostate tissue looks under a microscope. The grading system for prostate cancer is called the Gleason grading system. In this system, samples of two main areas of the tumor will each be given a grade from one to five. The grades will be added together to give the cancer a Gleason score between 2 and 10. The higher the Gleason score, the more likely the cancer is to grow and spread to other areas. Each stage for prostate cancer is based on the amount of cancer you have and where it's found. The stages are numbered from I to IV. In stage I, the tumor has not spread outside the prostate. In stage II, the cancer is more advanced but is still only in the prostate. In stage III, the cancer has spread just beyond the outer layer of the prostate. And in stage IV, the cancer has spread into nearby tissues as well as more distant areas of the body. As you deal with a diagnosis of prostate cancer, continue to talk to your doctor and your cancer care team.

I just survived prostate cancer. I was treated by the SCCA Proton center in Seattle and it was the best thing I ever did. My father died of prostate cancer and I'm pretty sure his father also died of it, so I was paying attention to my psa count and got the tissues samples taken just as soon as my psa count quickly doubled from 6 to 12. Prior to treatment my PSA count was 12.35 Three months after my last treatment my PSA count was 0.21 and three months after that my PSA count was 0.1 Naturally I couldn’t be any happier with the results. I have no sexual or bladder issues. It’s a miracle. It’s just an amazing thing and the facility, doctors and staff are awesome. Good luck

I was exposed to Agent Orange during my tour in Vietnam in 1968. When my PSA went from 2 to 11.9 my urologist at the VA did a biopsy which showed 5 cancers in 12 samples. The Gleason score in each was 8 and 9. I am right now doing hormone replacement therapy and having seeds implanted next week. I start radiation the first week in September needing 39 treatments. Bone scan and MRI showed no spread of the cancer so my oncologist is optimistic that the radiation will kill the cancer.

The exact same thing happened to my father. He was exposed to Agent Orange as well. Later on in life he had no idea that it could cause prostate cancer. He was not getting regular checkups and when he finally did, his PSA score was 30 (range is 1-4) and the cancer had already spread to the bone. The VA had just recently acknowledged that Agent Orange could cause ADVANCED PROGRESSION prostate cancer so at least he was covered there. Didn’t matter much though. Eight months after his diagnosis he was wheel chair bound from a tumor on the spine and four months after that he was gone at 54 years old. This is nothing to take lightly as I’m sure you are aware. Best of luck to you beating this and making a full recovery.

I am being treated for stage 4 for the past year. Started with Lupron shots then 44 radiation treatments then went to Mayo. They found a spot on my spine so 1 more radiation. Then after that they found a spot on a lymph node and 1 on my rib. So they froze those. I was out for 5 hours not pleasant. Then after that they found 4 spots on my spine. So they started me on chemo. Started with 6 sessions still not gone so they added 3 more treatments. I have one more treatment left. I won’t know if it is in remission until mid august. It’s a lousy way to start retirement. So get your self checked. I wish I would have been more informed so I wouldn’t be going through all this.

Interesting information but if you are wondering if you have Prostate Cancer do not listen to any of this. Just have a blood sample to check your PSA. I did not match any of those conditions or symptoms but had pretty advanced prostate cancer. So don't think, "Well, I'm young, white, and have no symptoms so I don't need to worry about it." you may be very wrong. By the time you have those symptoms it can be too late. Just have your PSA read now.

@Allan T Unfortunately PSA tests are not accurate. About 3 in 4 men with a raised PSA level will not have cancer. The PSA test can also miss about 15% of cancers. There is no foolproof test. I do suggest that men over 50 have regular medical checkups and a PSA at that ti worthwhile
@allent1034
@allent1034 3 жыл бұрын
@@neilbarnes2941 Actually the PSA test is 100% accurate. It will accurately tell you the level of PSA in your blood. An elevated PSA can be caused by many things -cancer being one of them. If you have a high PSA the doctor will then do more tests to determine if it is cancer. No doctor will ever just treat you for cancer from a high PSA alone so the conversation about it accurately predicting cancer is moot. Some people say we should not check PSA because it may scare patients when they may not have cancer. That thinking is dangerous. Many men who do not have any symptoms will not allow the digital rectal exam. PSA test is simple and saves lives, mine included. Of course, get regular checkups, take care of yourself, etc.

@naegleriafowleri2230 Жыл бұрын
@@allent1034accurate for nonsense. Its not specific to prostate cancer. Men with BPH, acute prostatitis, bacterial chronic prostatitis and especially non bacterial chronic prostatitis which is the most common one, they all have elevated PSA. If it raises it can mean your BPH has worsened or chronic prostatitis has done. The same applies CRP and hsCRP tests for heart attack risk. All it tells you is there is inflammation in the body it doesn’t tell you where and it doesn’t mean is in the arteries, people with autoimmune conditions and bowel conditions tend have high hsCRP
@allent1034
@allent1034 Жыл бұрын
@@naegleriafowleri2230 All very true. The important thing is to have your PSA checked regularly. Know your baseline and if it goes up, talk to your doctor. Elevated PSA may not mean cancer but it means something is wrong so don't think just because it is not very specific that it is not useful. A "nonspecific" PSA test saved my life and may save yours.

I have a neighbor that all sudden could not walk, then the news came saying that he has beginning prostate cancer, he was offered just to take some pills, no radiation treatment yet, then 2 weeks after the diagnose, the man went to the hospital to do surgery to fix a nerve in the lower back, but it's not clear the story if the nerve was affected by the prostate cancer or something else. The doctor said there is a surgery to try to fix the nerve, but the chance would be just 25% hope, so the neighbor did the surgery anyway, and he disappeared about 2 weeks in the hospital, then all sudden, my another neighbor that is his close friend said that the doctor said that he would have only 2 weeks to live, did not tell the man, told his wife only. I got confused, puzzled with the story. If it's beginning stage, why the man ended up paralyzed on the legs out of the blue, and now I am more puzzled, why the doctor is giving only 2 weeks to live. The neighbor said that he was struggling to speak, breathing making strange noise. So what does that mean? the cancer affected his lungs already, if so, how it affected the lungs if it's just beginning stage #1. I am lost. How accurate is doctor when they say: "you will die in 1 or 2 weeks. And the man will return from Hospital to his home tomorrow. So if the man will die in 2 weeks, why would not keep him in the hospital where would have more care, at least assisting his difficult breathing. And to make worse, the man's wife since the beginning of the bad event, she refused, resisting to take days off to take care of him, the another neighbor, his close friend was more worried and carrying than the wife and his son. I told the neighbor: let the wife and the son take care of him, don't take away their responsability, but I added: "ah this couple lives together under same roof, but has body and spirit separate many years" because I never see the couple doing things together, never leave the bldg together, so they are separate long time ago, therefore wife won't care, but what about the son? the son got sour too? Maybe wife and son got abused somehow, and now they are resentful and won't care for the man. You see when there is no more love and no more good relationship, everything goes wrong.

The following warning is the final paragraph of my great grandfather's memoirs, written just a year before he died in 1949. “Before I do this, I think I ought to give a warning to my sons and grandsons which may, in future years, be of profit to them, namely: My Grandfather died from the dreaded hardening of the prostate gland. My own Father was a victim. My brother Harry succumbed under the second operation from the same cause. I three operations and was given up twice but luckily survived and Robert Burgess came through a similar operation and lived nearly 20 years afterwards. So I warn you to act promptly within minutes if possible if beyond 60 you have any trouble with your water. It was promptness that saved my own life. And now, my Blessing on you all.” Samuel Sawbridge Stableford (1869 ~ 1949) His grandson, my father, Horace Alan Stableford (1924 ~ 2000), also died of prostate cancer. Unfortunately, Samuel's memoirs, and this warning, didn’t become known till after he died.

This year alone (2021) I admitted to A&E 8 TIMES Please don't go ahead with a surgery operation unless you really have to. Try hormon therapy Radio therapy. Don't go ahead with surgery please if you do than you wont be a man again!.. Edited update: My blood test results showing that I have got kidney disease. The reason is that because of I had to live with a catheter 1 week after the surgery so my urinary tract picked and infections . Pro surgery operation These will happen *UTI ,urinary tract infections *bladder infections because use of catheter *Kidney infections (because use of catheter) *Adhesions weird pains in your tummy *urine leaking * wont be able to eat certain foods and drink certain things

Here is an early warning for liver cancer that I went through. My right shoulder became extremely painful for a couple days, then just became sore and only hurt when I used my right arm. I wrote it off as maybe arthritis, or just getting old at age 50, but within the next two years more and more symptoms appeared. The sore right shoulder is an indirect symptom of your liver in distress. It's similar to the left shoulder indicating heart distress. Something you won't learn in med school is animal fats and proteins cause cancer, heart disease, diabetes, dementia, acne, athletes foot... pretty much every disease that people seek treatment for. Your DNA can prevent some of them, but the vegan diet stopped my cancer.
@SnapMeBollix69

It depends on the health (and therefore the production method) of the animal you eat… there are micronutrients in grass fed beef for example which are anti-carcinogenic

@@oliverjohnson696 Yes sir. After about 6 weeks, the painful symptoms were gone and I felt good again so I decided to see if moderation was possible and ate a burger. The next day I felt nausea again so that was it for me with eating animal products. It was rough learning what I could eat for a while because almost everything has milk and/or eggs in it. One time I didn't pay attention and bought Doritos to take for lunch at work and began feeling sick before seeing the milk in the ingredients. It's been almost 2 years now and I have a much better hang of it. There is plenty of choices to eat, but I do live without a lot of things I used to. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger said, it's all about the spices. I do take vitamins and supplement B12 and calcium. As adults we have the ability to learn and try different things for ourselves. Some people have no desire to even think about going vegan, like my sister in-law and a neighbor lady across the street. That's on them to put their faith in medicine. My main concern is for children who don't have that option. I wish their parents find out what's going on so their kids get a chance to grow up healthy instead of being lab rats of doctors searching for that miracle break through in medicine.

@@SnapMeBollix69 I'm sure some animal "food" is better than others as I've seen how some of the animal factories are ran, but I believe our DNA is the key factor if you are susceptible to diseases or not. I made it 52 years before cancer really began eating my liver. Mom made it to age 57 but chemo and other treatments didn't save her. Then there are children who die before age 10 with treatments while on hospital diets. I know what I have learned is true because of my life experience. I know a few years ago when I felt fine eating anything I wanted, I would not believe this info and would have no care to hear about it. I'm not the only one who knows this or who has saved their own lives. There are many more vegan options coming out every day, and I believe it's in part due to some mega wealthy people who have gone through the same thing I did.
@mgoh1984
@mgoh1984 2 жыл бұрын
By the way, I realize chemotherapy kills cancer cells if they can be targeted properly. It also kills other cells though. The way animal fats and proteins cause cancer is because our digestive tracts are long and meant to trap plant material that needs longer to absorb nutrients from. Animal fats and proteins become putrid before it's halfway through us, and emits toxins which, if your DNA allows, stimulate our cancer cells and cause them to spread to their designated path of least resistance. We all have cancer cells in us for whatever reason, but they are meant to stay dormant. Comparing our digestive tract to an equal size carnivore, ours is 2/3 longer, and is lined with jagged edges which are meant to trap plant material. The carnivore's is smooth lined, and their stomach and saliva acid levels are higher which allows them to absorb nutrients from meat and pass it quickly. If you have a dog, you know an hour after they eat they need to go outside. They are carnivores, need to eat meat, and can't digest anything from plants. If you think humans are omnivores, the only way that is possible is with perfect DNA which I doubt anyone has. Diabetes is caused by someone's DNA allowing animal fats to coat the sensors in their body that tells it when to produce insulin. Heart disease is from animal fats producing plaque that builds up in arteries which blocks sufficient blood flow forcing the heart to work harder. These are some of the facts I learned and honestly believe are true. The list of diseases animal fats and proteins have been scientifically proven is huge, and I believe them to be true after proving for myself with cancer, heart disease, as well as my athletes foot problem now gone. We all have the right to believe what we want and I can't force you to believe me. I have learned how hard it is to find true research with this though and know it's because huge industries would be dwindled if everyone went vegan. It has made me understand exactly how big money causes us to believe what it wants us to. When this info first came out in the 50s, reporters were found murdered before bringing it to the public. These days they don't go to that extreme since they have realized the majority will keep on buying the cause and get treated. I just believe everyone should know what's going on so they can make the decision for themselves.
