Totally agree. I stupidly bought 3 or 4 different gun vault safes. Poor quality. Consider a Pineworld safe. They have a USB port for emergency opening if the batts die.

I've had the same battery in mine for almost 2 years now with no problems. If you put a cheap 9-volt battery from the 99cent store, it won't work properly. Make sure you have a quality battery installed for best results. Also keep the keys to the safe close by, but out of view 👍

I own 2 of these. They work as advertised. There are 2 things to consider in regards to this safe. 1. I got this safe to prevent my toddlers from accessing my guns. It's safer than putting my loaded and chambered guns in a sock drawer or under my bed. It should not be used as a primary deterent to protect from burglary or theft. For that purpose, I suggest getting a real safe, something that is in the range of a few $1000, not a few $100. You get what you pay for. There is no such thing as easy access safe that is difficult for others to get to. 2. Like all life support devices that rely on a battery as its primary power source, you need to regularly change out the battery. It's like a smoke detector. Change that once a year regardless of whether it runs or not.

I have the same issue on 1 of my 3 gunvaults. They are all different models (multi standard has battery issues, mini deluxe and speed safe do not). Sounds like a grounding issue or something. Guess if you are going to get one make sure it has the power adapter backup on the deluxe models or that you buy new and test before the year warranty is up.

I purchased a Fortress Quick Access pistol safe and have been very pleased with it. I've only had it for about 8 months and haven't had to change batteries yet and I open it at least 3 times a day, ( I keep my EDC, keys and wallet in it) of course I opened it alot the first few weeks, lol thx for the sharing your experience

This is why I decided not to go with the minivault or multivault models that don't have an external power supply. I chose the Multivault Delux. It uses both the 9volt battery and an A/C adapter. Battery provides the power in the event of a power outage (or someone pulls the power cord), and the A/C adapter provides power the rest of the time, even in the event battery goes dead. I did see a video where the lock was easily picked, so I'm in the process of finding a consumer counter measure to that.

Gunvault does not replace these when you contact them. I recently ran into this problem and they told me to GFMS basically. No warranty. No customer service whatsoever. Will never buy a Gunvault safe again. So many better companies out there.

I have one for short-term storage only of a backup handgun and light. It's only used when I'm at home and awake. It's attached to a non-removeable shelf with small carriage bolts at my eye level. The rounded bolt head is to the outside. I've never had a battery issue. Batteries are changed twice a year along with smoke detector batteries.

Why not a safe you can plug in?
@JamesReedy5 ай бұрын
It can get you killed another way, the latch mechanism uses a small steel cable it winds up on a motor shaft. Over time the cable will fatigue and break at which point the safe will refuse to open so you better have the key handy.

I agree 100%.........I own one. Never use it again. Just use it as a mini safe for passport, thumb-drives, etc.

This vault eats up the 9v battery even when not in use. I have placed a new duracel battery and not open it for a few months and when a i try the battery is dead. Just terrible.

It's even worse when the keys don't open the face. I just bought this thing brand new. Taking back to the store tomorrow.

I use this vault to keep my car spare keys, and bank safety deposit box keys. When burglars break into your house they take any keys you may have around then wait for you to go somewhere, and your car is gone.

I contacted GunVault because I had the same issue. This was the response from their customer service (Gerry Lara -Alpha Guardian, Inc), "We' are not why the unit did not indicate the battery was low since this safe is a very hold maybe the cause was an electronic issue." WOW, first off i just realized they lied to me after watching this video and second I will never be purchasing anything from them again. Beware of purchasing from anything sold under the ALPHA Guardian name (Cannon, Stack-On, GunVault).

I ended up here because the one I have wont even work right. It cannot be programmed or reset, WTF? what use is it if you have to keep the key around

I just bought one today, put batteries in and tested it out and it worked just fine. Spent the next hour bolting it to my closet shelf and it doesn’t work all of a sudden. It accepts the code, but the door wont open even though I hear the mechanism ‘click’.? Used the key to open it to check it, closed it, and now the power is dead even though it’s brand new with a brand new battery? What a piece of crap.

Do not recommend storing any weapon in these for long-term since they are easily defeated...read on (!). Good for overnight storage to keep you kids out, as the reviewer states. All these tubular, barrel or round 7mm-8mm keys are easily opened using a pen barrel! That is how I opened a used one I purchased for $10 that someone locked themselves out. The keylocks are best replaced with a $12 Combi-lock which requires 999 attempts to open (3 dials). Basically, all these pistol vault or lock boxes are accidents waiting to happen...go ahead, try the pen barrel trick. You will open yours in less than ten seconds!

Yes, a flat blade screwdriver will pop the door in 30 or less seconds. It's cheap metal-made in China naturally. I'm looking for a replacement. Just want to save you all the time and money of buying this thing. If you don't believe me, try it yourself.

I bought one of these with 8 AA batteries and the batteries last forever. I have changed the batteries twice since 2006, and the last time I changed them because I just couldn't believe they would last that long, not because the batteries were dead. I don't know why your batteries were dying. I am Just using Duracell Alkaline
