Hey friends, I have been taking a bit of a break due to a family health issue that has been taking most of my time. However, I’m back at it! Lot’s of new videos planned and ready. Have you seen my last video on harmonica positions? It will help you, check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnjQnoGHfKZ4osU

I follow several teachers, and each of you have your strengths in teaching. What I really like about you, Jonah, is you try to give your students simple, easy riffs that with a few added layers we have something fun we can impress our friends with. The ultimate benefits of this are we can build a small library of ideas to draw upon but most of all it teaches that even the most complex pieces you can break apart into simple riffs and add layers and soon you're playing something that's really difficult.

This was a great lesson! From very simple to less simple. You've shown one of the easiest ways to chug while playing a melody. Please, more like this

Just tried this again, and after 24 hours there is a noticeable improvement. Keep the lessons coming.

Glad to hear it! Playing the riff and the rhythm part at the same time definitely takes a few days to really get down. Once it comes easy to you though, you can make so many different cool jams like this. Keep going!

Hi, awesome lesson! This jam lesson is exactly what is helping me on the level I’m now. So add more, will be a pleasure to watch it. What I would appreciate though would be a lesson on a throat vibrato!
@HarmonicaRevolution3 жыл бұрын
I’m glad this helped! I have a lesson on vibrato, but it’s a little older. I’ll make a new one soon, but in the meantime, check out the older one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHWaamxppZxpjtU

The best, most useful, most easy solo jam I've encountered... You're right, I don't want to put down my harp! Thanks man!

Like this as I in lockdown took up the harmonica, I can bend play single note vamp trill and have a vibrato. but I cant really play much music just a few riffs, so I like to see more like this where you sound like your playing music. only problem is you didn't say what the cord(shuffle) is I Guess -123 123 also where to put the -45 45 cord in. when you talk about there please show the Tabs so beginners understand please

Great lesson Jonah it's all about rythm .... I think is the way to learn harp from the beginning cause it gets you going with rythm and harmony both at the same time ... I think these Grove lessons with chord's are the best .... Keep up the great lessons ... Rock on !!!!!

I'm sorry it took me awhile to find this one Jonah and as always a great explanation. I think what you're doing is called back porch performing Style and I for one would love to have more instruction on this

Hi, At last. I know all these techniques, but how do I put them together. Thank you so much for your clear explanation. I will be practising like crazy & expand to other riffs. Once again a big thanks for making the lesson easy to follow. Stay safe. P.S thank you for not showing off LOL
@HarmonicaRevolution3 жыл бұрын
For putting these skills together, make sure you are working on them individually. Like, they need to be really comfortable first. Then just try combining them, and if you fail, try again but slower, and consider simplifying the parts you are combining. There is no magic trick, just lot’s of practice and pushing yourself to playing new things that push your boundaries.

Not to take from Jonah. But to add. Adam gussow has video called fantastic blues shuffle which compliments this. Get the shuffle so you can do it all day easy. Then at the end of the lick you blow out the ba ba da shuffle. Then lick 2 and after blow out ba BA da da. Or you try a lick try in chord ta ta. If you are struggling with this go watch Adams video. It's in 3 parts also includes lick but just take the shuffle. Maybe Jonah has content for the shuffle? I believe it's a basic fault teachers get because they get good & move away from remembering how hard it is at first. Eg Jonah and Adam both like they were born with harps in their mouths
@lurereviews51642 жыл бұрын
I like Jonah better than Adam gusso and I even bought adams lessons

I’d call that last chord a G9 or G7, because you’re playing in 2nd position, or G on a C harp. That’s the beauty about chords; the same notes can be several chords depending what you’re playing over.

Wish you would go over tongue blocking

So naturally when I attempt to tongue block I will curl my tongue due into a U to play the single notes…. Is that a technique some people use?
@HarmonicaRevolution7 ай бұрын
thats called U blocking, it's a different and uncommon embouchure, but it's still a legitimate way to play

I don't know how any human can use tongue blocking instead of pursing. To me it's like being asked to fly! Good lesson though.

John A 0 seconds ago Your intro showing what we will learn is not a C harp. It must be a low F. Correct? Then latter you you use a C harp. Confusing to us who don’t need to be told how to play it.
@33456462 жыл бұрын
Yes he is using a low F at the beginning. It is one of the best low harps to get.
@michaelcaffery50382 жыл бұрын
Sorry, ignore that. You are right. I was thinking of a C harp for playing in G. I really shouldn't be mixing them up at this stage lol. I was just trying to be helpful but showed myself up. Going to delete.
@33456462 жыл бұрын
To Michael Caffery Your new Comment well taken . I do recommend trying a low F harp. Easttop makes one that I like at a low cost.
@33456462 жыл бұрын
To review: all I am saying is the demonstration of the lick (at the very beginning) uses a low F harp. Most advanced harp players only need to listen to the opening example with all the nuances present etc. (which was in the key of “C.”)
