This show deserved so much more. They somehow made the reveal that Norman Osborn was the Green Goblin actually shocking. It truly was the best Spider-Man show by far and would be hands down if it was actually finished.

What I will say is that Disney obtained the TV rights when they bought Marvel since Marvel at the time had a hold of it. Its sad to accept but the truth is that there was no reason for them to keep Spectacular going. Business wise it made no sense for Disney to continue allowing Sony to produce the show and benefit of merch sales.

The people behind Spectacular Spider-Man had so much planned after Season 2, but it was a real shame that it was abruptly axed just when its popularity finally soared. And instead we got later animated Spidey shows by Disney that just weren't faithful to the either character and the source material.

Spider-Man The New Animated Series didn’t actually have low ratings at all in fact it had quite a large viewer base but MTV cancelled the show because “it didn’t fit in with other programming” which sucks because it’s probably the most unique Spider-Man cartoon. The creators going for a 16:9 format in 2003 while most shows were 4:3 just shows how ahead of the time the show it was. I love the mature themes of the show, those Electro episodes are so depressing lol.

Honestly aside from One More Day, the 2000s were peak Spider-Man. A brilliant film trilogy, multiple shows which each felt unique and a plethora of games available for most, if not all consoles. That one render of Spider-Man that was on merchandise around this time was peak character design

Nothing makes me more mad than this cartoon getting canned. The fact alot of obscure characters at that time like Mr. Negative, Jackal and Hydro-Man was going to be introduced or was already introduced is amazing. Cook and Weisman were gifted storytellers. Their writing paid off in the long run especially with that Green Goblin twist. They even was planning to adapt the clone saga! The random stuff like Flash boxing Peter just gave away the amount of care they put into this series.

The first time I found out they planned to actually adapt the Clone Saga I was shocked they'd even consider it, but since then I've realized that they would have definitely excelled in making that storyline exciting and fulfilling like the Osborn/Goblin twist which has already been done a bunch of times yet they made it their own. I don't think I'm alone in wishing we got those 5 seasons and 3+ movies, would've been the most complete Spider-Man adaptation beyond the comics -- but more streamlined.

I have this show on blu-ray with embossed silpcover and paid around $55 which is more than the retail $34.99, what a collection that's now out of print! I really like the 90s animated series as well, hopefully we get a collection of that on blu-ray as well!

I just cannot forget this show. Back in school days, I watched this show when it was aired on TV. On this day I was watching an episode where Gwen kissed Peter, guess what, my mom entered the room and was like "What the hell are you watching?". And then I was trying to explain her that it was just a Spiderman cartoon 😌😂

Yep, it still hurts. The show aired on Cartoon Network here in Brazil, and we'd get new episodes fairly close to the original airing, but my anxiety always attacked and made me rush to KZbin to watch them as soon as possible, and then I'd watch them again on CN. I loved it so, so much! Still do! To this day, it's still my favorite Spider-Man animated series ever, even though I'll always have a lot of respect towards 1994's Spider-Man, which was my introduction to the character and its universe when I was a kid. And man, the heartbreak of reading the news of the cancellation of The Spectacular Spider-Man. I was so devastated by all of this that I started hating Disney with all my heart, even more after seeing what Ultimate Spider-Man was like. To know years later about the crew's plans for further stories they wanted to develop made me way sadder than I thought was possible. With all of that, it was heartwarming to see Spectacular's Spidey, again voiced by Josh Keaton, in Across the Spider-Verse, even if it was very brief.

There’s no way Disney would’ve put in the effort or put their ego aside long enough to bring Spectacular back, but they could’ve at least tried with Ultimate. It seems like the only people who cared about that show were the animators, and props to them for that, especially having to work with such stale character models and colours.

I was aware of the show’s announcement in the rewards terminal on Spider-Man: Friend or Foe when I was six. This is unforgivable Disney apathy towards the show, buying Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Fox’s entertainment assets, rejecting George Lucas’s outline for the sequel trilogy by copying the original trilogy, divided the fans of Star Wars, pumping out MCU content after Endgame in one year, a bad start to phase 5 and now ruining Indiana Jones by treating the same as Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi. Disney is gonna crash and burnin the next decade.

Same I just finished it for the first time, I was expecting it when I went in to be an above average cartoon with some adult themes, I wasn't expecting it to be one of the greatest pieces of Spider-Man media of all time, on tier with the new films. They do all the characters justice and it's such a mature and well written show, it's such a shame Disney screwed it over so bad. Here's hoping the show's revived popularity shows them that new seasons would be highly received by fans!

I don't understand why Sony and Disney can't just greenlight a season 3. They work together on the mcu films and look how its working out. Heck there are tons of series they could bring back.
