There was a time when, yes, MTV lost its way, but in the age of streaming and On-Demand, MTV can rot. It had its chance. Starting with "The Real World" and "Road Rules", "Remote Control" and "Ren & Stimpy" MTV began to "slow-boil the frog" until we realized the idiots forgot the "Music" part entirely. Even a decade ago, MTV going back to its roots would have been "Read Only Memory" while the Internet has provided us with "Random Access Memory". SCREW 'EM. Good riddance.

An embarrassment to Metal. Long hair is one thing. It is simply NOT cutting your hair short anymore regardless of insignificant peoples' insignificant opinion about how YOU choose to wear YOUR hair as a man. These bands had nothing to do with the hard rock roots of metal-Sabbath, Zeppelin, Purple, Uriah Heep, Blue Cheer and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The Glitz and Schmaltz was a waste of everybody's time. The stage clothes looked like BDSM/Gimp attire and the hair-styling products actually forced musicians to keep cutting damaged ends so that hair was never more than a few inches below the shoulders. Meanwhile, Death/Thrash Metal bands' hair was was to the elbows and only a few inches above the waist.

MTV was Music Television 24/7. They hyped up that station well over a year. It premiered 12:00 am. We all waited patiently, and it did not disappoint. Everyone was up at midnight to see it.
