I love to see Warren explaining a company like Apple and the business prospects behind it! He had stayed away from Tech stocks because it was not his understanding, and some time and education it is clear he understands. A true idol in every sense of the word. Also, I’ve noticed for a while this has appeared to be his favorite interviewer and I wonder why?

It`s Zen. To him the market is just a river that flows and he follows the rivers stream/current. He never goes against it or even try to speculate if it`s ever going another way. All of us others are emotional and not objectiv, and think we can predict the market short term. He knows AND feels that it`s impossible.

I like that Buffett is frugal but still willing to change if he feels it is necessary. I was watching an interview from the late nineties where he said he does not use computers. But in this interview, he talks about how useful the computer is to his business. It took time, but he was not so adamant to admit that this technology had value to add to his work.

Jarron Jackson OK. What wakes you up in the morning? How do you time your breakfast? How do you listen to music when you jog? How do you call a cab to your work? How do you read email on your commute? How do you read news? How do you schedule your days? Take a picture? Scan a document? Contact your friends? Order a lunch delivery? Make a dinner reservation? Search a nice recipe? You know whether a store or restaurant is good or not before you pay for the service. The value that smartphone creates for users over 2-3 years is definitely higher than a month of rent. Do you agree?

I've been a huge admirer of Mr Buffett for over 20 years, but I don't quite get what he's saying about the iphone. I mean it's not like there aren't wonderful alternatives to the iphone or any apple product for that matter. There are hundreds of other smartphone brands which can do all those things that the iphone does. And many would consider Samsung to have a better product.

He means that a person who is used to an iPhone will continue to pay premium price for the phone instead of buying a cheaper alternative. And my girlfriend seems to agree: she'd rather buy two generations old iPhone than buy the newest hight quality Android phone (like OnePlus) for the same price.

I think that sort of brand loyalty may be over-played. I know at least three fairly affluent people who got tired of the i-phone quirks and moved to another brand, though I'd agree once bought in to the apple 'ecosystem' there is a strong tendency to stay with it, a bit like having owned a Japanese car and being impressed with it's quality I'd never go back to a European manufacturer. The car equivalent of an i-phone might be a Mercedes or BMW (brands which a lot of people see as 'aspirational' though I wouldn't rate them as highly in terms of reliability).

I personally think Warren Buffett is being forced to invest in areas out of his competence simply because Berkshire has so much cash it can only pursue large deals to make it worthwhile for shareholders of BH. Apple has a large enough market cap to allow Warren to make a meaningful purchase for Berkshire Hatheway. Although realistically speaking if Warren is betting on the ecosystem of Apple it can easily become obsolete making it a fairly risky purchase compare to what he normally buys.

Did you know a birthday cake can be made out of the tofu manufacturing process by product. I've made chocolate chip cookies and blue berry muffins.
