Thank you Mr. Vaché. Your selfless and caring teaching style is what inspired and taught me how to play the trumpet where others have failed. I play a 60's King 600

Warren Vache is one of the finest Jazz Cornet player. A mainstream Jazz man, I was very fortunate to catch him live last year. Loved his control over the instrument , his solos, vibrato , half valving and his ballad artistry. Girish

This is a good lesson! re: I played for 25 years, even went to NTSU and played jazz-chair in the 2:00 lab band. But, was never told about converging the corners towards the center. If I had heard that in every first few lessons for my first year of playing, and if we would have focused on a Caruso type warm-up (from low-C to double-C), I would have been likely been a different (better) player...

Question: When the pencil is erect all the way horizontally, what note is that equivalent to as far as playing the horn? In other words, what note is equal to the muscle support needed to hold the pencil up? High C? (Above the staff)

Mr.Warren, I notice you seem to be working with a cornet. I prefer the tonality of the Flugel and the Cornet over the Trumpet. Am I to understand that learning to play on a Flugel is conciderably indifferent than that of taking lessons with a trumpet ?
@BoazKimMusic3 жыл бұрын
Yes, basically the techniques on both instruments are the same. Same embouchure and fingerings.

Someone could be able to explain me why the pedal tones can be played if they aren't in the harmonic series? Thanks.
@edgunther813610 жыл бұрын
The harmonic series is 1, 1, 5, 1, 3, 5, b7, 1, 2, 3, etc. The fundamental pitch is quite flat and unstable on the trumpet so we hardly use it. We consider the 2nd partial to be the lowest partial and anything lower as a pedal tone. To get low F or E or D on the trumpet without a 4th valve, we just bend the pitch down from the 2nd partial.

Idiots call this great man a paedophile. What he presented was a good visualisation of how to play well, people who condemn the man would be tarring and feathering people based entirely on their own prejudices. The problems in the world are caused by fools that read evil into decent peoples actions shame on you.

Take a look at where the girl is sitting. She's as far away from him as possible, off-center in her chair. I'm not saying he's done anything inappropriate, but he should look at her body position and realize that yes, he is coming off as a creep.

take note from some of the posts below . Nothing, show no personality , monotone voice never look at the student , no jokes as someone can misconstrue, and only have a female teach females. Better yet do it from a video so there absolutely no room for any judgement. Be careful about shaking hands or making eye contact . Always have a third party in the room .A taped recording device . A through background history check. A signed wavier teacher and student . Two way mirror with observers from the CPS.and police dept . and a good attorney for yourself present . did that cover it ? oops, "cover it ?"
