I went to business seminar in 2023 came back and so far I've closed two deals. The system works. And I agree with ponding water I've seen it done and it doesn't work. U go back up and it doesn't stick. You'll definitely be getting a call back ☝🏾

“Go to the trainings” which you pay for, out of pocket. I’ve worked with many fantastic manufacturers, they don’t charge for training in how to use their products. You mentioned GAF. The level of training, resources and support for GAF contractors is unmatched in the industry. 2 week long classes are held where contractors and installers are not only trained by experienced and skilled instructors, meals are provided as well at no cost to the contractor. Roofing Academy travels around the country teaching residential and commercial roofing to job seekers and not only invests in the staff, materials, and travel for these, they also give students a 250.00 stipend to attend… and their meals for the week. Other manufacturers also invest heavily in supporting their contractors … but don’t charge them. That’s one thing I don’t quite understand. Why does Conklin charge for their training and seminars?

Legitamite business models don t charge upfront for product and application training. The manufacturers profit margin on product purchases should cover any costs for trainings.

@@edwinyoder4264 hi there! well Brunno knows about pretty much every coating company in the US and many in other countries so he knows how they all operate and about their histories, formulas, products and specs. He can pretty much tell you about any line and the pros and cons of each 😃

I would agree here to this specific point but there is another side to the Conklin Family that you dont see. The individual contractors who are training new recruits are doing so on their dime. The person who got me into coatings and Conklin’s single ply systems lives 18hours round trip from me. Every single time i have needed help he has been there. I have been made to understand this is the Conklin way.

@@ryanmelton112 the “contractors” doing the “training” are also not qualified 90% of the time. Holding a garden hose and spraying foam is not the same skill set as understanding the dynamics of different commercial roofing systems across varied regions and climates. The only qualification they have is Conklin koolaid. This is why they don’t even understand basics like gravity and glob foam around drains and elevate them /clog them EVERY SINGLE TIME. And there is no recourse for the scammed consumer. EVER.

This is a great discussion! Most of the Conklin people I talk to aren't willing to have a legitimate conversation about the conklin products and how they may or may not stand up to competition! It's typically like talking to a indoctrinated religious person, anyways I like the Conklin products and am certified with them, the people just weird me out a little!
@WaterWitcher

This is my experience also. I do know several contractors who I respect greatly, who will use Conklin on occasion, but the die hard Conklin acolytes, it’s impossible to have a conversation with them. It’s kinda …culty. And they are obsessed with “ponding water” because that’s the main talking point .. for whatever reason. In reality, so many more factors than just that one should be considered when pairing a coating system with a particular substrate.

@@WaterWitcher if you want to see a coating that holds up indefinitely to standing water look at a swimming pool that has a coating. Conklin does not make such a coating.
@WaterWitcher
@WaterWitcher Жыл бұрын
@@ToddBizCoach Right. And most coating manufacturers are trying to walk the fine line between keeping solvents/vocs low enough, and still retain performance in the product. Lots of hybrids being developed that are pretty exciting! Coating systems have evolved light years in the last decade.

@@WaterWitcher you seem very well informed about roof coatings. Have you ever worked with coatings on concrete?
@WaterWitcher
@WaterWitcher Жыл бұрын
@@ToddBizCoach Yes! That usually winds up being determined almost completely by climate. Concrete takes a while to be 💯 cured and I advise people to get a written green light on new construction before they coat concrete.. especially if Miami dade or FM is involved.

A couple weeks ago I had a Conklin contractor, speaking with me and giving me the pros and cons. They wanted us to come out to Kansas City. I believe to one of their events. I’m not completely against MLM’s because I’ve made been successful in one once But, Until we coat a roof with and use the product, I’m going to hold tight.

So how much was the ticket to the event? 😂 last I heard it was 1,200.00 bucks to attend… don’t drink the koolaid … I’m honestly not trying to be mean but actually charging their own contractors to attend the training/hype sessions is just disgusting to me. That support should be free and readily available to the guys and gals in the field. Period.

I want to meet this guy, I am in Wisconsin. I have had multiple Conklin guys try to recruit me and they are good guys just out of our budget range. I have acrylic roofs that I re-coat 20-30 years later. A local company is my distributor with LUCAS in Chicago. ONLY the fully embedded with polyester works NOT JUST COATING that is down south STUFF and it lasts forever if you keep it debris free and wash it/clean off the roofs 🙏💯 I use silicone or a 2 component similar to CASTAGRA for ponding areas you can't demo/rebuild.

Many flat roofs have a bit of ponding issues Some more than others. Conklins Pond-Be Gone costs a lot of money, which is why Warren recommends it only for small areas. I find it interesting that the Conklin community refuses to look at chemistries like polyurea to seal these areas. I do know, that if Conklin co would develop one, it would be the greatest thing since water-based paint!!

agreed that this is happening. Agree there is some koolaid drinking happening with the seminars and the way they push their business model. I do think their products are of high quality. I do think they need more detailed in house training to make this a product that competes at a higher level in commercial. You know they manufacture single ply products as well? I think they lose credibility here because of the lack of training compared to other companies. That said there is some great teachers in this this company and I am luck enough to have come into contact with one. Hopefully overtime the company takes on more accountability and had a stricter training before allowing installers to install their product lines.

Ponding water is a pre-existing faulty structure there are solutions to this problem but I would not guarantee anything. Unless we tear down the entire roof and install it with the proper run off. Good Luck 😊
