I was in my church choir and we sang this on Good Friday night some years ago.. Before I knew it, I was crying, but I kept singing, feeling the presence of the Lord, and the meaning of that moment. Our choir director warned us about the emotion in this song,, and he wasn't kidding. Glad I found this!

Well said, Bernadette! We give our Lord and Savior the thanks and praise due unto His matchless Name. And what about the fact, Bernadette, that Jesus's soul, immediately after He died on Calvary, went into the bowels of Hell and suffered the torments of the damned for 3 days and nights vicariously for us? Today's ministers never point that out but Scripture is crystal clear about this. As it is written, "Because Thou wilt not leave My soul in Hell, neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption" (Acts 2:27). How awesome is that? A mighty Savior indeed!

My second favourite of Taize songs. My first would be "Jesus Remember Me". I literally cried singing it, asking Jesus to remember me when my time comes, just like the thieve who put his trust in salvation through the Son of God although he just knew Jesus for couple of hours. In return, Jesus promised him paradise.

I heard this played this Maunday Thursday at the live streaming service from the Good Shepherd Parish Colne. A very moving piece. The priest played it I think because from Maunday Thursday until Easter Saturday the services are actually all one. So no blessing at the end of Mass on Thursday.
