anyone else think the "everyone has forgotten everything" plot was really lame? it kinda killed any sort of meaningful character development between people throughout the story. it was just replaced with "oh wow you're kinda the same as me, lets be friends" and that's it. meanwhile, 80% of the cast gets ignored or flung to the side just so Zhao Yun, Yukimura, Guan Yinping and Naotora can have centre stage. this was insanely average compared to 2 and 3U.

To be fair, Sengoku Japan and Three Kingdoms China were effectively trading historical facts and ideas. If they returned with their memories intact, the futures of the two countries will be warped to unrecognizable levels. There is no way the warlords will abuse their knowledge of the future. Imagine musket guns in China during the first millennium and Japan having the Stone Sentinel Maze. Asia will not survive and the Middle East will be destroyed way before the Mongols arrive, that is if China would allow them to come into power at all by wiping out Genghis Khan's clan. As much as it pains the Chinese and Japanese gods and mythical figures, they had to let history unfurl as per normal. If they like say, simply made it as if their crossover memories would only exist when they were in the WO world, there wouldn't be any issues.

I'm...not sure how to put this though. The story is pretty nice, but I feel less connected with the story and characters. The cutscenes are also quite lacking. In WO3 the story was much more simple, but I liked it. It was fun. And they at least had effort to make cutscenes in almost every stages, even in side stories.

In the first Orochi game, Zhao Yun brought together a lot of people even though he is no leader and just a follower, he could have done it again in this game.

"This game just feels like a B team or skeleton team made it. It just feels like a low budget knock-off. It takes out most of the good features that made the previous games good, or it keeps the features and ends up making them worse. No opening cutscene (probably because it's a demo), Story Mode clones (people that appear in story mode levels will appear as clones if you play as them) removal of WO3's camp hub world, Musou Rages being only limited as a very rare item pickup, removal of R1 specials being replaced with clones of sacred treasure, a checkpoint system in place of interim saving that doesn't have much pace and spreads you too thin (sometimes the game will hand you checkpoints like no tomorrow or it'll give you checkpoints at a rare frequency and if you lose then you lose a good chunk of progress), lack of cutscenes, a boring and repetitive tactical Nuke that isn't as good as the true triple attack, only being limited to playing the Story and Battle Royale mode (challenge mode is being brought back as a DLC), no unlockable costumes like WO2/WO3. Not even alternative colors or a color pallette. The levels are just linear and have no other approach to beating them. Basically put with scripted dialogue, wait for a gate to open, defeat some dude to open the gate, more dialogue, kill the leader to hear some more dialogue. The battles just have you and your allies run around and kill stuff or escape instead of the occasional pursuit mission or defense mission. I know the old games are like that, but they at least gave you some variety in the approaches you could take minus WO3 to some extent. I feel like they tailored this game to be like a mobile or portable game that you play in short bursts than to play for a while. The true triple attack from 3 is downgraded to some 'cinematic' tactical Nuke that clears an entire screen. There's no posing or slow motion bullet time from running into any enemies. It's just an explosion that hits anything in the radius. I could say it's repetitive but either one are the same, but the tactical Nuke all you'll be hear are people making prolonged guns and summoning a Meteor. The same exact thing for the entirety of the game. There's none of that character switch comboing from WO3U which had some use to it. WO4 just uses the dash attack while attack switching and it serves little use." Just something I had from a year ago
