There are three reasons why I keep coming back to this channel: well-researched background info, great cinematography, and authentic travel tips. This video exceeds in all three. Well done, Jack!

The country of Poland always existed here, since it was founded in 966, until now, with the only exception of 123 years of partitions around XIX century, and 5 years during WW2. Plus at some stage in the medieval period it underwent a process of feudal fragmentation into independent provinces (still ruled by Piast dynasty) that reunited 100 years later.

Well, years of bullshitting about "Commonwealth" instead of "Poland" (coming mostly from Poles...) made some people think that there was no Poland that time.

Another superb vlog! I knew that Warsaw experienced a lot of destruction in WW2, but I had no idea that it was so all-encompassing.

I’ve from the UK but have been to Warsaw twice (both times via train from Krakow). It’s a nice and civilised place to spend some down time - and I’m back to see Metallica there in July (although I’ll go via Gdańsk this time and see that city for the first time).

Good choice, I'm Polish and recommend Gdansk to foreigners and sometime Wroclaw. I think it's the best city. I've never recommended Warsaw to anyone.

A2s for the fact that Warsaw was almost completely destroyed, you are right and not as a result of war fighting but as a result of the planned blowing up of the city by the occupation forces. However, not by the Nazis but by the Germans. In occupied Warsaw there were trams and buses with the sign "For Germans only", no one has ever seen the information "for Nazis only". It is also true that about 200,000 citizens died in Warsaw, but in direct combat about 120,000 . The rest were victims of mass murders, which were carried out by the Germans.
@markgellert1
@markgellert1 Жыл бұрын
So, what's your point? You are just repeating what he said. The Nazis were in charge of Germany so it is 100% clear to everybody that the Germans were following Nazi orders.

Thanks for the heads up. Today, I am flying to Warsaw for the 1st time, I am looking forward to my trip. Question, is it safe to walk at night, is it safe to drink tap water, do restaurants and malls close early on a random day and accept card and for some, is it free to use the restroom in restaurants and malls or have to pay?
@JackRoaming

I like contrast when visiting cities, just like you. Warsaw has a lot to offer. Great, unique history, safe streets, good international, local and vegan food, many museums, good public transport and young energy. Prices are also attractive. 🤍❤

I'm assuming the Chopin museum was rebuilt after WWII as well or was it spared Hilter's wrath?
@JackRoaming
@JackRoaming Жыл бұрын
Correct, the building where it is now was rebuilt in the 1950s after being destroyed by the Nazis. It was actually a 17th century castle that belonged to a noble family.

Man, it is hilarious if german is promoting Warsaw. I mean i know that you are not soldier or nazi from 1944, but still it is interesting. However now Europeans are Europeans and they should unite

As an American, I think his English is excellent. Slight accent, yes, but flawless in every other way. Also his first language is Luxembourgish (a Germanic language yes, but not German). I actually have distant relatives in Luxembourg and I know that they get very offended when you say that Luxembourgish is German. Anyways, from following his channel, he speaks at least five languages fluently, so I think you can cut him some slack ;)
@avitalsheva
@avitalsheva Жыл бұрын
I am not saying that his English is bad. I just make a point that the English he speak, is definitely " germanish" . I think we can agree that is very typical accent and prononciation from germans / austrians and let it be luxembourg included as well@@markgellert1
