Warsofsky on Line Between Creativity vs. Simplicity With Puck, Where Celebrini Can Get Better

I have noticed that Celebrini has a strange habit of using "spinarama" moves (Montreal Canadiens star defenceman Serge Savard was the originator of this super spinning move as I remember) where he has puck and spins backward to shoot or pass. I have been playing hockey for more than 50 years and did this move many times as an amateur. It works when opponents don't know you are doing it (surprise factor), and when the opponents figure out that you are probably doing this move, they can devastate spinner with big hit (broken jaw factor). This move is similar to the use of stick to cradle puck on blade directly into net rather than shooting--it only works when it is a surprise and can be easily countered or anticipated when it is your normal move. I predict that Coach Warsofsky will caution Celebrini about these fancy moves which leave players open to great injury (because back is turning), bad blind passes (because you pass before you can see). In his first goal in NHL, Celebrini did a spin move and shot puck into net off another player's skate. Celebrini is a rookie now but other NHL players will figure out his habits and I do hope he is wise enough not to get a broken jaw like Connor Bedard did last season. Keeping your head down or turned from action is never a wise move in this really fast game and spinning rarely works, even in shootouts. The highest Hockey IQ players have the greatest repertoire of deceptive moves that they master so that they can use many ways of fooling the other players and keep element of surprise due to greater creativity with puck movements.
