Goodrow is not even close to being a First liner, however what he provides to Celebrini and Smith is far more valuable and helps them be more creative knowing they have that protection so overall, I’m actually really happy with him on that line.

57:50 I'm not sure if it's the same, but there was a clip floating around last year of Foligno talking to Bedard. "There's so much to teach you and I don't have enough contract time. I'm gonna have to stay in Chicago for like five years after I retire."

can't express how happy I am we have this kid. Matt Murley recently posted on X that Celebrini will be better than Bedard. Smith and Celebrini on the same line is so much fun to watch. Eky and Zett have growing chemistry too. Such exciting lines with so much growth potential. It's good to be a Sharks fan...

Great to see how well Eklund is playing, and has definitely upped his game big time this season! And so far, with the exception of the first 9 games which have passed, this seasons coaching is so much better under Warsofsky than under Quinn last season. I know it’s different players for the most part, but I feel overall coaching is much more focused & in tune with the players. Enough said.

I think that it has become obvious that the Sharks need some trades to shake up the line up and get more tenacity and hitters into the line up, more role players who can improve defense and forechecking. Perhaps a package deal with a goalie and prospects for 2025 draft picks is likely as the GM gives up on the Sharks making the playoffs once again. No playoff hockey for Sharks fans is getting nauseating to be frank. Only some trades can save this season.

Im so proud as a fan to have Warso as our coach. Dudes turned this team around completely. I love the compete and how hard this team tries, no matter how many goals they are behind. Absolute masterclass by Sharks front office.

I have noticed that Celebrini has a strange habit of using "spinarama" moves (Montreal Canadiens star defenceman Serge Savard was the originator of this super spinning move as I remember) where he has puck and spins backward to shoot or pass. I have been playing hockey for more than 50 years and did this move many times as an amateur. It works when opponents don't know you are doing it (surprise factor), and when the opponents figure out that you are probably doing this move, they can devastate spinner with big hit (broken jaw factor). This move is similar to the use of stick to cradle puck on blade directly into net rather than shooting--it only works when it is a surprise and can be easily countered or anticipated when it is your normal move. I predict that Coach Warsofsky will caution Celebrini about these fancy moves which leave players open to great injury (because back is turning), bad blind passes (because you pass before you can see). In his first goal in NHL, Celebrini did a spin move and shot puck into net off another player's skate. Celebrini is a rookie now but other NHL players will figure out his habits and I do hope he is wise enough not to get a broken jaw like Connor Bedard did last season. Keeping your head down or turned from action is never a wise move in this really fast game and spinning rarely works, even in shootouts. The highest Hockey IQ players have the greatest repertoire of deceptive moves that they master so that they can use many ways of fooling the other players and keep element of surprise due to greater creativity with puck movements.

Keegan and Sheng: if possible can you guys interpret how Will Smith and Celebrini's Article 9 Entry Level Compensation section 9.5 works so as to explain to fans what thresholds or achievements these rookies have to reach to get some portion of their up to $3.5 million bonus money? It says: Clubs and Players may negotiate, and a Player who is subject to the Entry Level System under Article 9 may be paid bonuses for the types of performance, and in the maximum amounts, set forth in Exhibit 5. The maximum bonuses that can be paid may have been updated in MOU amendments to collective agreement, but the bonus system is regulated so Sharks players only get their bonus if they meet standard levels of performance or relative to team mates (as in play 50 games, get 40 points, lead team in shots or scoring percentage). Can you figure out what has to happen this season for these rookies to get their big million dollar bonus pay days? Level A bonus criteria are easy to meet and Level B are very hard to achieve if I remember correctly from Connor Bedard case. Sharks fans need help with the math behind bonuses!

We need more shutouts from Sharks and more hard digger hockey to shove that puck into net like Zetterlund did and which was called off by ref conference after the fact. The real score was 2-0, almost 3-0 with an own goal by Devils who were bewitched by Sharks luck all game long. This lineup had greater team chemistry than previous lineups, so Warsofsky is moving in right directions. Power play is laughable and needs much more practice on power forward clearing paths for puck to the net and bowling over goalies at edge of crease. Coach should have his players do football dummy hitting drills until they get the message. Meditating or dreaming about hitting more is not enough, you need body blows and sudden impacts to jolt the team into hitting first, thinking about passing later. Every forward line should have a designated hitter, passer and sniper. The Sharks need to start leading the league in recorded hits and not trailing the pack. Players who hit more should get more ice time and free bandages and nursing care for being wounded for the team every night. Every night after the game, they should reveal which player had the most hits or hardest hits or most effective hits, the greatest hits, and the biggest lost opportunities to dominate with hitting according to slow motion replays. It ain't that hard to focus on hitting your hockey opponents into submission.

This goal coming off Timo Meier's deflection contained so much poetic justice that it must really mark the turning point for luck for Sharks this season. That was a pure example of the role of luck in hockey and its unpredictability which makes it so much more entertaining. When the Devils hit the post on their own empty net with a bouncing pass from the Sharks' end backwards into their own zone, it was clear on whose side the hockey gods were cheering. These kind of divine interventions in hockey plays do not come only randomly, hard-pressed teams with maximum desperation work ethic make them happen to erase the stress of always being down on your luck. It is the shape and physics of the puck (rubber substance with strange aerodynamics when spinning or sliding or bouncing on ice or round goal posts) that is behind the dominance of the luck factor in hockey. Some of this luck happens fast (player injury, puck in the mouth), and some of it happens ultra slowly (when puck is sliding down ice towards open net and no player can catch up). Hockey pundits don't have to spin the game as it is already spinning itself and its fans! Mike Grier was gifted a lucky rabbit foot and he is off to the races doing more rabbit tricks.
