Anne Bonney is my favorite pirate, mostly because she got away. I believe that she is indeed Captain Charles Johnson and wrote A General History of the Pyrates.

They didn't. Despite what Captain Johnson's book says, they were not disguised as men (though they did wear men's clothes for action), and the fact that they were women was well known. Governor Woodes Rogers mentioned Bonny and Read by name when he issued his warrant for Rackham, so if the authorities knew they were women, there's no way the pirates wouldn't have.

I would have to disagree with you on this partially because,internationally there are far more male pirate captains from this period in history,that are as famous as blackbeard,than there are female pirates that are just as well-known down to this very day, although the female pirates in this category that people actually know of by name tended to be just as much of a force to be reckoned with and at times even more so than blackbeard himself,especially at times when they opportunities to use common tendency of men of the time which was an obstacle necessary for women who wanted fair treatment to overcome all too often in those days,as tool to help them get the better of overconfident male opponents who were underestimating them!!!

I highly doubt they were as tough as they are portrayed. Don't get me wrong I have known some tough women. But that's tough for a woman. I have mostly women in my family and wish they were tougher. But I have throughout my life, in the military and Leo field that while tough, are never as tough or strong in the art of war and violence as far more men. And everyone has the time they run into someone tougher. And these women are in a much more ruthless world. These women would to be either exceptional in skill in hand to hand and weapons combat, smart and lucky. But those are very rare cases. I say this because I grow sick of women degrading men who are men and do the majority of the real dirty work keeping this country safe. But dark times are coming. We're footsteps away from another world war. We'll see who's tough or not. I hope many women are.

These two grew up lived through and wallowed in hell. Few people will ever have the chance to face a trial by fire that these to had to have. One common trend I also noticed throughput was that they had a very strong tendency for one upman ship, so a good bit of that grit probably came from that.

I haven't watched the video but I just wanna comment first these aren't the most deadly female pirate's. I'm pretty sure Zheng Yi sao is the most deadly Anne Bonnie and Mary Reid only took a few small merchant ships Also they probably weren't lesbians like.some of the comments say Mary Reid was in a relationship with Jack Rackham and Anne was in a relationship with a unknown pirate that was on the crew . although it isn't impossible that they were in a relationship

Johnson's book has it the other way around: Anne Bonny was Jack Rackham's girlfriend and Mary Read was with some other crew member.
