Finishing enemies is usually better for loot and exp if you can overpower them when you're not too low on armor/health and resources to repair/heal, also you can accept 3 quests in a row and accepting and declining the higher level quests makes them reset to easier ones after a short amount of time!

Also- holding onto alt whilst in a pov area (not overworld) highlights lootable items.

This reminds me a bit of an older game, ‘Darklands’. It was very 90s, think it ran on MS-DOS; essentially, you’d create characters, put them into a party, and have them go from town to town in the Holy Roman Empire to find quests and jobs. Death was frequent, but you could always make new party members.

Some protips: use chronicles to unlock new recipes, craft new recipes to unlock new chronicles. The first one you spend should be on Career Plans, then Run. Have someone become a tinkerer and use the worktable! Not only will they craft the rest of your camp gear, but they'll steadily generate repair tools. Always stop for a rest when needed. And, uh... buy a new pony.

If you like tabletop-style CRPGs, you might like Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. It's technically the second game, but the plot is completely unrelated, and it improves massively on the first game.

I've never played the game but I'm assuming you probably wouldn't consume alcohol if you rested in the tavern instead of the camp. There is probably a trade off of money spent vs. alcohol spent there. And at that point you were rolling in gold before even selling the crap you collected.

I'm pretty good at Sand of Zalzaar and Vagrus - The Riven Realms.. I got utterly destroyed at my first run of Wartales. So now I'm fukeng with Zomboid again... I might have made it a tad too difficult, cuz... I've looted 4 houses, and the only loot in total, was a magazine, a toothbush, and a can opener. But it's okay, cuz I tend to get bored, due to the excess loot.. I couldn't leave my hideout for 2 minutes, without being overburdened, on apocalypse... And maybe maximum spawn x4 is a bit much.. But at least I set it to start slow, so there's still only a few. lol.. And hordenight I'm looking forward to trying, with these random turrets I found a mod for as well. Probably gonna die tho.. Cuz I also watch this video meanwhile.
