Superhots are a far more extreme experience than sauce. But what you can do is just cut a small piece of a pepper instead of eating the whole thing. That way you still get an idea of the flavor and the heat without committing yourself to the entire pod which is much more extreme. Go easy

So in 1974, I got to my dream post in northern thailand. I'm Canadian and salt and pepper was about it. I'm wasted from travel and I'm walking to my barracks. The cutest little girl was sitting on a porch. She smiled, held out this skinny red thing, and said sweet! I popped that sucker in my mouth, like a dumbazz. Thai chilies were not a joke back then. im on fire, eyes running, nose running and then i hear this loud laugh. The little angel was pointing at me and laughing. She then showed me the soul of her foot and ran away. The foot thing is an insult. I still smile when I think of my intro to Thailand 101!

@ChaseTheHeat4 ай бұрын
I can explain it, but it will make more sense to you as you continue eating them. To me jalapenos aren't as floral as they are sort of grassy. They have a green grassy flavor. Serrano's and poblano's do as well. Floral notes are typically more common in hotter peppers. When I first began eating superhots floral notes to me seemed like perfume almost, and I hated it. Now over time, I've grown to love them. I hope that helps a little. Keep it up!

That said, chopped up atop my meal, I have been able to tolerate a whole Bhut Jolokia. The thing about that was though… the smell. I’ve NEVER smelt another chilli like it. In my opinion, it has to be one of the best smelling chillies out there. However, I may be wrong on that. Have you ever smelt in your time eating chillies anything better? I could spend a day experiencing those sort of smells all day long. It would be interesting to hear your opinions on smell and to see some sort of ranking… based upon your own opinion, naturally . 😅😉

I've got couple questions and would be very interested to hear some thoughts on them. First, the 7 pot primo is about to celebrate its 20th birthday, given its lineage, is it the most important pepper of the 21st century? Secondly, the surname "Scoville" I'd assume is a stage name, how do you feel about the Scoville heat scale as a rating system for peppers?
@ChaseTheHeat4 ай бұрын
I think the 7 Pot Primo is no question the most important pepper, period. The number of amazing pepper crosses that all have the 7 Pot Primo in them is so long, there's no point in making a list of them. Scoville ratings don't matter. To me they don't. For a few reasons. 1. Most of the time, the producers are lying about the claims in the first place. We've seen companies make outrageous claims about sauces for example. Spectacular SHU claims IN VIDEO, only for us to learn when tested, they lied. 2. I've had chocolate peppers that have burned me way more than red superhots that have a much higher SHU rating. So, what matters, at least to me anyway, is the pepper hot? If it is, who cares what the SHU rating is. To me the Warthog is the hottest pod I've experienced. I could care less what the SHUs are. Moreover, Matthew Arthur, its creator, could care less too. He's doesn't care about world records, nor is he motivated by money. Proof of that is that he is giving the seeds away for FREE. I LOVE THAT!

Johnny - I have to know. I've watched a lot of your videos, not all, mind you, but I don't think I've seen a video on cramps, other than with the Chili Queen. Personally, my body is super predictable. Any pepper over 1-1.2 million SHU, I get cramps. Are you just mutantly immune to this, or does it require more volume where a pepper or two, and you're ok? I'd love to just eat a whole pod when they're that hot, but the cramps are brutal. Eating the pepper doesn't make me panic, but damn those cramps certainly can.
@ChaseTheHeat4 ай бұрын
I am not immune to cramps. I suffer from them a lot more in the beginning of every pepper season than at the end. It's part of the gig. It sucks. I know I'm throwing some fuel on the drama, that goes on in the chili community, but I wonder if a certain group, will request some of the free Warthog seeds, and then try to use them for their own monetary gain, without giving any credit... If Warthogs end up being higher on the scoville scale, than the unavailable mythical unicorn, I have no doubt that some shady business would go down, and they would try to patent a chili, that isn't their original genetic phenotype. All they would have to do, is cross it with one of their phenotype, and then stabilize it as their own strain, but pretend that it was their original strain, from the ground up. That big corporate greed, can infect and spoil good people, if they allow it. I know I'm leaning into a conspiracy theory, but after seeing the shenanigans surrounding the so called "hottest in the world", I lost a great deal of respect for that group. Especially if they're using their corporate pull, to go after KZbin channels, for saying things that they don't like, and exposing their sauce/chili, for being extremely sus. It seems like they're puckerbutt hurt. Which is weak, and exposes their lack of character.

It's funny that you mentioned the Spice King. I didn't know he was even on your radar. I've actually name dropped 'Johnny Scoville' on his videos, because he's still in preschool, when it comes to real chili heads. I don't have any beef with what he does, but he is extremely hyperbolic, when it comes to content. I've also noticed that he cuts the camera quick, after he eats something that has some heat. I guess he's entertaining to little kids, that still think black pepper's spicy. I would love to see him try to keep up with Johnny, though. Just because I know it would pull his skirt up, and expose him. I have no doubt that he canceled the meet up, because he knows he can't hang with the BIG DAWGS.
@ChaseTheHeat4 ай бұрын
He isn't on my radar at all. He's apparently on other people's radar, as they seem to repeatedly reference his name in comments here. He cuts his videos short to hide his reaction, or to spit out what he's chewed up. He's having fun, and there's no crime against that. But within the chili community, he's sort of a punchline, or a meme at this point.
