@ R-60s generally have lacking range for me, and the 9Ls are usually on strikers that won’t get great launch parameters under most conditions. Both are good, but the 9D is on the right plane at the right time.

AIM-9X, the latest generation of Sidewinder missiles. It is capable of locking on target through the Helmet Mounted Display system, and the maneuverability of the missile had been greatly increased that the pilot can lock and shoot the missile in any angles.

9X isn't just a single missile either. It underwent numerous modernizations and sub-variants (even within a single block). AIM-9X of 2003 is a very different missile to AIM-9X of 2023.

The AIM-9B was also standardized IIRC, both the USN and USAF used them, then branched off until the AIM-9L. Otherwise, great video as usual by the basement people!

I love that people ask "AIM-9X when?" while that thing would be OP at 17.0. I personally think that the AIM-9M is a bit weak but the AIM-9X is out of the question, but the AIM-9R would fit the game. EDIT: you guys think that the AIM-9X is on par with the R-73? The AIM-9X can pull 60g, it has a much longer range, it has a 360° lock angle and it doesn't care about: flares, the sun, clouds nor terrain.

You guys forget there’s different blocks of the 9x. The first block is basically just an R-73 with aim-9m tracking. The block 2-3 improved maneuverability. We can have block one right now and it won’t be op compared to magic-2s and R-73

The way it works is by temporarily shutting of the seeker and ignoring new imputs for a sexond or two. This reaults in the flare fallong bellow the sightline of the seeker. So the way to stop this is by not being allong the same lath as the missle expects you to be, so flare and manoeuvre. Now ghis is real world theory game is slightly different

With how good the Aim-9M is currently I wonder if they will just stick with that when we get to the F-22. It’s already pretty much a guaranteed kill so they wouldn’t even really need the 9X and it would keep the game pretty balanced. Don’t flame me, it’s just a thought.

R73 is more manouverable, but 9M is definetly better IR missile cause of the range, smokeless motor and better IRCCM. When you shoot 9m correctly its 99% for a kill if enemy doesnt flare it perfectly. USA mains just cry cause they dont flare R73 and die like noobs.
