Warzone Is No Longer For The Casual Player!

Ended up deleting COD/Warzone a couple days ago. I'm a 54 year old fella' who only played BR Solos. After countless episodes of guys bursting through doors while jumping and 2 shotting me in the head with a pistol I realized I was in the wrong place. Just not fun anymore. The anxiety and frustration levels were frankly, unhealthy. Now a couple days out from getting rid of the game I can honestly say that I actually feel better....not so much angst. 🙂 The game I used to enjoy was Battlefield 4, so who knows, maybe it's still hanging on and I'll get back into it. I have BF 2042 as well, so that might be what I casually starting to play. But man, what a breath of fresh air to be away from Warzone. Cheers man.

I still jump on to Battlefield 1 every now and then. I just can't get past that game being nothing short of epic. Everything about it - score, gameplay, visuals etc. Just incredeeble

When warzone first came out, I was 34 years old. I put in almost 2000 hours and was ranked top 1% globally for wins and win percentage on cod tracker. I mostly played solos but once and awhile my friends would ask me to help them get a win so I would. Had fun mostly but it became an unhealthy addiction. My wife and kids noticed a change in me that neither they nor I liked. When Caldera dropped and Verdansk was gone, I quit playing. I have not played warzone (or any call of duty) since. I have been so much happier and now I can't stand cod. Stop playing the game. Just my two cents.

My friends and I (we're all adults with families) have decided to stop playing warzone last week. We talked about why we play games together once a week and we determined that it's really to have fun together and shoot the breeze over comms. We never do well and we spend more time waiting for lobbies than playing the actual matches since we die so quickly, even when we win (which is very rare) it doesn't feel all that exciting - the main sentiment after we win is that we're going to have an even worse time for the rest of the week because we'll get launched into even tougher lobbies until the SBMM realizes that the vicotry was a fluke. We now play a combination of borderlands 3 and diablo 4 together. We'll probably get into helldivers 2 once we're done with those games. The main thing we're looking for now is co-op experiences minus PvP.

The group I play with are the same just trying to have fun. The sad realization of maybe having to leave warzone behind. Helldivers2 looks insanely fun. My group already talked about it. Have fun out there

Heck I play it nearly everyday and even I can’t just have a relaxing game nearly every game I have to sweat so hard just to do ok. The only time the lobbies were chill was like that time Activision got hacked and a couple days later me and my boys got dubs PRs all in the same night we usually sweat hard like out of 15 games we might get one win in Warzone that day we played for like 5 hours and got I got multiple 20 bombs life was good until SBMM returned

I like this video cause it speaks to the casual player, people who spent years playing older COD games or other FPS games that just want that same feeling of fun and excitement that games like Black Ops used to offer! So many new games are just too sweaty, it feels like everyone you’re up against is a full time streamer, always using the same meta guns. If you’re looking for games to try, the Finals is one I’ve heard good things about; I’ve also been playing the OG MW2 and black ops, if you’re lucky you can find some good servers without hackers with players who miss the old days of CoD. @@slamreloaded So the actual core of your problem is you are playing mouse and keyboard. I can tell if you plugged a controller in you would enjoy this game so much more as a casual player because you have good natural game sense but mechanically a little slow and you're only now being punished because 70% of cod players are on controller and have rotational aim assist that makes very easy for them to aim but it is SIGNIFICANTLY harder for mouse and keyboard players. Basically if you aren't an exceptional mouse and keyboard player anyone that plugs a controller in has a significantly easier time aiming.

You read my mind! Speaking as a 41 year old who was fairly good at Warzone 1, I’m about ready to bow out too. I literally never see any casual players just walking around in game any more. Literally every single player knows how to bunny hop, slide cancel, break your camera. Everyone challenges you aggressively and has perfect aim. I used to walk around Verdansk and you would see people who had no idea what they were doing. No more. Maybe it’s because it’s so hard that every casual is trying to become a sweat in order to continue playing, so you have content creators like CuppaJoe who are dedicated to helping players improve so there’s no longer people who just “hop on Warzone to chill”. Those are the days of the past.

I think its normal, WZ evolved, I played FIFA before WZ, and it brought me back to CoD. So from beeing a total noob I feel I am semi good now, so maybe that is the case... BTW you have cool co-op missions in CoD that works like WZ (plate system, open map) but are objective missions that are quite fun to play with a friend...

Agreed 1000%. Here's my rant - Me an my friends (mostly 40's) have been playing COD since Call of Duty 2 before Modern Warfare (CoD 4) and used to have so much fun winning and losing. We mainly got together on XBOX when original Modern Warfare came out and have all stayed on console (XBOX, then all moved to PS). The game has changed. It is played so TOXIC with all the jumping, spinning, sliding, etc. It used to be that they brought in actual military specialists to make sure everything was accurately depicted, etc. That has long since passed. Nothing about this game is realistic anymore. No one in real warfare jumps and spins and slide cancels, etc. The movement and mechanics feed all of the toxic gameplay. I blame both the developers as well as the younger players. I mean if that's the way the game is to be played, then good on the new players for utilizing it. I can't and won't. That just isn't how I've ALWAYS played the game. It just isn't fun anymore getting dominated by all the acrobatics and BS in this game now. We talk about quitting this game every time we get together to play. We get 1 win in about every 25-30 matches MAYBE...sometimes way more in between. The SBMM is completely broken. Cross-play was the worst thing that ever happened to this game as well. I have to say that when Modern Warefare 2019 came out and cross-play was added is when it all went downhill for me. At least, that is when I noticed the shift. I even went back for a while and just played Blackout and BO4 MP. Rant over for now. Enjoy your time playing though. I'm almost 50 now but I still love video games as I always have...I just need to find something that I can have fun at now.

Casual player here. It has been frustrating lately. Saturday I was in solos against a obvious hacker who has a TikTok page to show off his hacks. Turned off crossplay after that and was in a solos game with 2 sets of players teaming. Next morning had to turn crossplay on to get into a game and was 3rd partied by a streamer.

Yea i've actually seen a lot of people saying the teaming is out of control on solos. I personally haven't run into it or maybe I did and didn't realize it. I don't even know how they would fix that! That's crazy that hackers are just out there with channels promoting it and not getting caught...crazy!

You’re absolutely spot on with this video mate. It’s often just not that fun because most games are so sweaty. I play with 3 other mates - and we do really well on multiplayer, but on WZ/Resurgence, whilst we get a few wins almost every game feels like you’re in a competitive league! Have switched to Helldivers 2 for a bit (along with everyone else!! 😂)

I used to be "good" back in Warzone 1 but ever since WZ 2.0 I seem to have a really hard time competing with control players that has such a godlike aim(assist) that they can empty a whole clip into you with a gulag pistol without missing a shot while I'm struggling to see through the iron sight what I'm shooting at, like wtf!?

It's been that way for a while. Weekends are horrible in my experience. I normally just play weekdays after 7pm. I will say that since warzone 2, the servers have been a real issue for me. It's rare that i don't get disconnected 1-2 times in 4 games, and I still get packets bursting regularly and even after upgrading my router and changing to a better dns for gaming. It's purely a warzone issue that has persisted since warzone 2 season 4. I used to be decent at the game back in Warzone 1 and the early seasons of warzone 2. I dropped from a 1.70kd in Warzone 2 down below 1 over the last few seasons. It hasn't improved since the switch to urzikstan, it's getting worse. I even like the speed of the game and the mechanics. Heck, I used to use Stims back when they basically gave you super sliding. Now I feel like I die in 300ms in most engagements, including ones I start shooting first with the enemy facing away.

I'm 54 and used to love playing warzone..but you are 100% correct..this game isn't fun anymore. It's full of sweats that seem to have a God Mode aim and movement that is so fast and precise that it leaves you no chance to engage. I started playing Plunder but thats going the same way..drop shots and jumping headshots seem to be the norm. To be honest this is the first time I’ve watched one of your videos, but this one earned my subscription immediately! I’ve played COD since the beginning and they have gotten faster and faster and faster and the TTK has gone quicker and quicker and I just can’t hang anymore and it isn’t fun. I try to play as much as I can because I have a group I like, but I feel like I need to be on a crack/caffeine combo just to move around the map. It's just a function, presumably, of just getting older combined with the ever-changing evolution of games and their associated player bases. In addition, COVID provided many people - both younger and older - with additional playing time. It's no surprise that the meta of playing styles has changed, not to mention general increase in ability and experience.

I 100% get where you are coming from. I am 47 and have been playing COD for about 15 years. I consider myself a decent player but I have been smoked game after game recently. I find solos are also unreal. I am not even a positive K/D anymore and get smashed by demons. I don't find it fun unless I am with my OG squad that come on once in a while. We used to dominate back in the Verdansk days but of course now we get smoked but still have a bit of fun. Love you vids from the standpoint of us casuals, keep them coming!

Plunder is a little less stressful and easier to play casually, even as a solo. My friend and I have been checking out Grey Zone Warfare which looks like it could fit the bill, especially with private servers.

I'm 54yo gamer since the Atari 2600 days, well before that even. I loved call of duty, casual player. The last one I enjoyed playing was Blackout. I'm mean yeah, your reflexes aren't like they were when you're young, interactions with equipment etc are overly complicated for me... I stopped playing warzone ages ago, because I'm just not good/quick enough to get far. So BR is no fun, I have to resort to hard point etc games. I appreciate that people can do more, get more in Warzone than Blackout...but in BR it's just no fun for me as an older casual gamer. I played blackout daily, for hours, had wins, had fun...

I'm with you man. I'm 48 been playing Cod multiplayer since the 1st one. Always considered myself an above average player. Not great but good enough to compete. I used to be able to tear up some rebirth island lobbies. You'd get in some sweaty lobbies every once in awhile. But nowadays it seems everybody is a sweat. I stopped playing about a year ago. Still enjoy watching ppl play though and I've just been enjoying single player games since I left warzone.

big difference for me is when i play ranked resurgence and normal with friends. the matchmaking is honestly unplayable when you do normals. i find myself having more fun and more playable lobbies when i play ranked, just because it now is only placing me with people in my ranked level vs having some bots and also insane players in my lobby. ive gotten to plat so far with minimal playtime (like 10-15 games) and those games are just so much more enjoyable when im not getting wrecked by kids in norms that are crimson level lol all that to say, try playing ranked as if it were norms and i think youll have a much better time

Ok, subbed, great content. Similar age and length of time playing. You can’t land at “winery” and say the game is too fast paced for you thats one of the top four sweatiest drops on the map. Land somewhere safe, do a contract or two, but a loadout from a safe buy, only get kills when pushed and get the win more often than not. Your playing a game that’s been in the same shape for years, people are playing this 24/7/365, to have the edge you have to out play them and by that I mean staying out of there way until YOUR well and truly ready to engage on your terms. Imagine it’s called Splinter Cell Warzone and not Call of Duty Warzone and you’ll get exactly how you should be playing at your age with your experience..

I enjoy watching Jamcowl... Whenever the lobbies are full of sweaty streamers and hackers, i get my riot shield, knife loadout with stims ( a couple smokes) and proxy mines and i hide and outlast every one in the gas. It is a fun strategy and it pisses off the 20 kill hackers

It's not just warzone, either. MW3's MP was super fun to play with my regular casual squad for S0 and most of S1, then all of a sudden it turned into an unmitigated sweatfest. I think CoD has probably burnt the gaming community out on its core gameplay loop. Warzone was still pretty fun up until maybe the final season of Caldera (after we all managed to adjust to Caldera's gameplay), but now I think it's hitting that same level of burnout. We do still enjoy DMZ from time to time, but that's about it as far as CoD's current offerings go.

Getting back to the subject at hand, I’m a 51-year-old OG gamer that started off my first online with, original call of duty for modern warfare. Love the game. Obviously, there’s been installments that I haven’t liked, but I’ve always enjoyed going back to the grind and level of guns and stuff like that. I’ll be honest I literally go to small maps I love all the guns to be ready for the better changes and wait until I can get a couple of friends or my son for that matter to just go and have some fun. Once in a while, we’ll pull off some wins and do well, but for the most part, we’re just not sweaty enough. And my age old reflexes aren’t what they used to be, but I still hold my own for my age. Good luck with growing and look forward to seeing you in the future. Other than CoD, I really enjoy overwatch 2, rocket league and the division 2. But only the story modes honestly. That’s a huge time suck to be top tier. But honestly, the only way I have found card to be enjoyable, is taking it lighthearted with friends, in like resurgence, trios or quads, and have some laughs. My 9 year old recently got me better at games. he is a Champions division fortnite player, he mentioned to me one time, "what are you doing to get better? If you play games you're good at, you will have more fun. I used to suck at Warzone so I wouldn't play it, but my friends pretty much begged me to until I got good enough to be able to hold my own. Now, I'm winning solos games and getting 5+ kills per game. If you had asked me a year ago if I saw myself playing WZ more than other games I'd have laughed at you. Don't let games make you anxious or angry. Get an L? Take a break or hop back in but DON'T GET MAD. Games are all about fun. If you can't have fun, play another game.

I don’t really play other games but you definitely need a quicker sub build. Your ADS time is 3-5 business days. You’ll be surprised how much faster you play if you play with a quicker build for a while, that should help you compete. Also totally agree with the sentiment, this game is trying to be competitive and casual at the same time and it’s not working. Hope you keep at it 👍

Your aim is great! I think if you tweaked your weapon loadout to META Most Effective Tactic Available… I.e. your attachments. You’d have a more consistent good time. You’re running the best guns. Battle Royales are hard on the mental. Take breaks. A few days at a time if needed….Treat the game like you’re pumping quarters in an arcade machine… That helped me. Everyone has been at the battle royale crossroads of casual gaming. If you take even a week or two off the game experience can change completely… Brs are always evolving. Your take was refreshing to watch! Good content! We all struggle because you have to stay on top of the constant weekly gun meta changes and then making time for getting the ingame time to a have a better chance of countering slide canceling etc. aka “Movement Demons”… The camo grind helped me a lot with learning the mechanics of every gun. Awesome stuff dude!

I totally agree with you , i have been saying this same thing lately . I enjoy watching normal streamers that dont use hacks, its so easy to see that literally 99.9% of all the major streamers are definitely using hacks. And the way they made the sliding so powerful and useful its literally the most important part of the game , it seems like even if you are hitting your shots the person you are shooting somehow gains extra health while sliding , players spend 90% of the game sliding on their butt , and the guns are so accurate its like watching every killcam looks like aimbot with no ahogs ever missed. Strategy has went out the wi dow and has now given way to sliding constantly. Basically COD is now a dance game with guns added . I am over it as well with all of the gimicky weird gameplay,sliding , throwing knife b.s and hackers. If you showed the gameplay of the average player to a cod player 15 year's ago they would say those people are hacking all of his shots always hit, and why are they moving so fast and sliding so much. I really miss how the game used to be. You can run up on someone and empty a whole magazine i to them only for them to instantly turn around slide at you and shoot you 1 time and you instantly die or throw a knife and you die. Its not even the same game any more. Slow the movement down, nerf the slide, bring back recoil to the guns and ban hackers and the game would be awesome

Ive switched over to basically only playing Modern Warfare Ranked Multiplayer. Its smaller maps, objective based games. Its still competitive, but only 4 vs 4. So you still get in plenty of gun fights. Its much more laid back than warzone, but competitive enough to keep you hooked

It stopped being fun for me many years ago, what brought me back was DMZ and I’m still playing and loving it. Last night I got a chat request to pick up a random killed by bots at airport, I picked him up in a heli and took him to get a 3 plate. We picked up the first two players we killed and then rinsed the entire lobby. It’s gameplay you just don’t get in any other game or game mode and pretty much every game is different, you get to choose how you want to play and who you want to be that game. Want to be a hero? Do it! Want to be a villain, go for it! Don’t want to get rinsed as a solo by a 4 man team? You’d better have good strategy before you drop in.

In the beggining of the Pandemic we started a Discord server with more than 30 old friends from College and all played WZ religously everyday since day one. Some have quit during Caldera, some didn't like WZ2 but kept playing WZ1 until last September, then quit but the majority quit just recently. There's only 3 of us playing regularly including me. It sucks cus any time of the day, any day of the week someone was grinding and it was always great times but now everyone is frustrated with the game. I think I was addicted to the social aspect of it since I also don't feel like playing anymore. It is what it is.

From what I watched in the video I think you actually had a really good game, I don't know how your other games might be. I also think that being a casual, you are in a real disadvantage if you play on MnK. I am a really good player and I still get shit on by controller players that are worse than me, so sometimes I need to take fights differently. Think about keeping your distance, assume that every player is on controller, which is actually the case 90% of the time :D From what I saw your lobby was not that tough, even for your skill. You were the better player there but fighting against aim assist is tiring. Also, the SMG build you have is more of a sniper support. Don't use it like that while paired with an AR. You can make a better build with way better movement and the same recoil control, but you don't need the range since you have the AR for that. RAM-7 is fantastic even for mid range. So build an SMG for close range with more movement speed. Don't forget, still try to keep your distance :D Last advice, when you are forced to take close range fights, start shooting on hipfire and aim down sight after. It will be easier to hit first shots which will help win the gunfights. Keep up the good work :)

Consider also the Zombie mode in MW3, the coop is nice change of pace. People talk trash on Fortnite, but I have had a blast playing it in the past. That being said a good gaming partner makes the difference. Starting solo can be hard, match making is tough. But the right partner makes all the difference. Perhaps we can drag you on for a game?

I've played zombies with my group and we liked it but we always gravitate right back to warzone. I haven't played fortnite in a long time. We've talked about other games recently so we will see. I would love to be able to play with more people, unfortunately my gaming time is very limited. Have fun out there though!

Hi, same happen to me i was no having fun any more in warzone so i switch to Moderm Wafare Zombies (I still like COD, but no warzone) i end up having alot of fun with mwz and on top of that my yt channel end up growing like 500% after deleting all warzone content

I feel what ur saying, I’m 42 year old 3.2 KD player. I’ve always been a good fps shooter and good at playing position in games like this but the amount of skill is wayyy higher that it use to be when I was younger. I play with a squad of guys half my age that are absolute demons and we still get shit on time to time lol

The casual experience for all BRs died when Fortnite held the World Cup in 2019. After that every BR decided to hold these high stakes money tournaments. And the streaming wars with Twitch and KZbin Mixer back in the day… now with Kick. All the money to be made everyone wants a cut.. and now every game is sweaty as hell. I still have fun when I’m playing resurgence . I have my moments when I get smoked but not as many as I’d expect.

I agree 1000% Although, I’ve always felt this way about COD. It definitely goes in cycles where I can hang in some COD titles, and then I just get completely destroyed over and over in others. I went back to playing Battlefield I, and V. They are both epic games, and still have a big player base. 👍🏼

I completely understand what you're saying about cod titles. That happens to me from match to match now haha. I was never a big battlefield guy always cod but I did enjoy playing it. Good change of pace from cod and the sniping is great in bf.
