There’s a difference between cognitive intelligence and emotional maturity. When you are 18, that is the moment when society says “You are still young but old enough to the difference between right and wrong. while we will understand that you are still learning, you will have to suffer the full consequences if anything were to happen.” that is having the cognitive ability to understand what is happening in a situation. Maturity is something some may never experience, they have spiteful, petty arguments over the most trivial of issues but it’s if a person allows themselves, they can grow, mature to separate the primordial instincts and know that it’s best not to focus a lot of attention on something that doesn’t matter. I see this situation as someone who knew that they were doing wrong but were emotionally immature to let go for a period of time before realizing it wasn’t worth spending all this time, both of theirs, on something that couldn’t work. I won’t call him a groomer as I think like all 20 year olds, he is too stupid and was still learning. Only advice is: “Don’t talk to anyone online.”

I think being a PDF file requires repeated predatory behavior and well into adulthood… if you’ve watched “to catch a predator,” you’d know that most of those guys repeatedly, maliciously, and intentionally targeted children specifically. I think in the age of the internet, it’s very easy for individuals in a text-only chat to misconstrue the maturity of the people they are talking to. While yes, obviously it is different- anyone who has had a long distance relationship or who’s partner has gone away for a long time (a few weeks/months) should be able to recall just how badly a person changes in their mind online vs in real life. Everything is different when you are that separated from the individual in real life, and it’s so easy to put on a personality online, or even to lose your personality online. I don’t think this guy is the only person who has experienced the effect of the warping of perspective through internet chat, and I think this might even be somewhat common because of the rise of platforms like Discord. The issue comes from when you realize your mistake and then repeat it. Now it is no longer a one time mistake but a pattern.
@EdDevil7 ай бұрын
You need to prove that he was actively seeking relations with her to even label him a predator and considering she was quite literally throwing herself at him and he was the one to initially stop communications after his mom pointed out she had a real crush on him it's very doubtful he wanted to fuck her or anything like that. Just seems like early 00's online friend behavior that was very common sprinkled in with some popular memes of the time that obviously didn't age well like the "I'm going to rape you" cat video.

Good comment, let me add something to that. Most sex crimes related to minors are actually people that have a opportunity, but arent full blown pdf's, as in they have a attraction to kids. I think that probly just fits with this guy, as this was 10 years ago, and since then no girl has come forward. If he was a pdf, he would have tripped up more, like you mentioned. Also, agegap asside, we are talking about a 19 year old, yes he is a creep, but who was someone that navigated relations well at that age. Just saying, that its probly not a attraction to kids in my opinion.

The high school context would matter if it were true, but it's clearly not. The reason the high school context matters is because you are sharing a space with individuals of similar maturity levels to you. Seniors and freshman occupy the same classes, sports, friend groups, etc. Freshman probably have a significant enough maturity difference having just entered high school, but if a senior starts dating a sophomore, graduates and starts college, I do not think there should be a requirement to break up or they are now 'groomer pedophiles'. Now they will probably naturally break up because with college and freedom, there is once again another shift in maturity.
@damiennewman19927 ай бұрын
I think age has almost nothing to do with the maturity level (for this age group) and it's almost entirely where you are in your life. a 30 year old who lives in their moms basement and a 30 year old with their own house and a career are completely different when it comes to maturity level, and frankly that 30 year old with the career probably has way more in common with a 20 year old with a full time job and responsibilities.
@Immor7alBG7 ай бұрын
@@damiennewman1992 I disagree, a 30 y/o would be as out of touch with the early 20s crowd as much as with his NEET peer. 10 years is still almost a lifetime of difference at that age range. When you get to the 40~50 age range, I'd say that gap is mostly whatever.
@damiennewman19927 ай бұрын
@Immor7alBG I'm curious how much experience you have in the workplace? I have way more in common with coworkers who are 20 years older than me than some of my bum friends from high school, and it's not even close. I'll grant you that maybe 20 is a bit if an exaggeration but 25 to 35 absolutely falls into this category
@applesauce12307 ай бұрын
I think the difference in pre lobe development has a significant impact on the perception of age range and maturity, generally speaking someone could be more mature when they're younger but they will also have less mental development/decision making skills, the difference between 18 and 15/16 in highschool isn't a significant age gap and the younger person could even have the maturity of an 18 year old but they will in most cases have less life experience/ability to make decisions that are more likely to lead to a relationship with a power imbalance which is why it's bad in most peoples minds.
@damiennewman19927 ай бұрын
@applesauce1230 See, I don't think the 18 year old has the life experience yet either in most cases. That's where I disagree. I tend to rate it more by life milestones, which is why the age gap between college and high school is much more meaningful than senior and sophomore. But if you've grown with a person you met before one of these milestones, that overrides everything.

@genericsocks75427 ай бұрын
As a kid who was wildly defiant and troublesome as a teen, I don’t feel like my parents were to blame for my behavior. So some kids will just naturally be inclined towards the type of behavior I exhibited as a teen, regardless of the parents actions. Actually, the more my parents tried to clamp down, the more I took it as a challenge to beat the new rules. It resulted in them taking the extreme measure of having me essentially legally kidnapped (transport service ) in the middle of the night and taken to a woods program followed by a boarding school, all of which was against my will but legal as I was 16-17 and not 18. It’s very expensive so is only super common in more wealthy areas but there are similar cheaper alternatives that are more common. I think the goal is to find that balance of not exposing your children to shit they shouldn’t see/can’t understand fully and not being the overbearing, draconian rules having type parent. Too much one way and problems arise, too much the other and different but just as bad problems also arise. That’s why being a parent is crazy bc there is no handbook, every kid is vastly different, and everyone has their own opinion. Once the kid reaches 13-15yo they have some responsibility for their actions, but ultimately the adult has far more power due to their life experience and accumulated knowledge, so they have the final say and will suffer the consequences at the end of the day. Both of those things can be simultaneously true. Ok lol rant over

The irony is at the start of the stream "Blasterr" or whatever his name is was making the pedophile defense argument of "Maturity" in a highschool context. And in defense of the early internet humor, there are plenty of people who would say fucked shit online, things now that could land you on some typa list, that now no one who used internet back then would say now. But also as unfortunate as it is age gaps like 15-19 16-20 were incredibly common back then. People really started talking more about how weird it seemed online around like 2014. So many people were in those type of relationships that arent weird people but social norms have changed that gave a new perspective on how wrong they are, thats not excusing it but people look at stuff in a modern lens and you can make so many assumptions based on now that were just never thought of back then.

Theres also no pattern of behavior, its a one stop shop of simping someone he shouldnt have and his mother getting involved because he was too autistic to realize what a stupid thing he was doing. I bet you 100% at 19 he was thinking "well its only 1 year so its not that bad" because he never intended to even meet chick. Edaters edate, and most of them are stupid and/or underage. The gap was barely enough to make this worth being mad about my parents had a bigger age gap than this realistically. Context added I'd say he made a fuck up at 19 thinking he was smart by getting with this girl who obviously liked him and it took outside influence for him to see what he did wrong. Then he didn't do it anymore-- let people fuck up without bringing it up 10 years later and youll see many grow and change. If more shit comes out or more victims sure, I get it. Tons of weird and edgy jokes happened back in the day without people being groomers. It was the environment. But there were adults that should've understood not to talk to someone certain ways.
@Bauldi7 ай бұрын
I was one of the kids of this era, I remember lying about my age a lot. Other times I initiated the jokes. It just was the way it was. I feel like as long as you kept shit online too most of its harmless. If they met or something then I'd be super concerned, but rping with a 5 year gap and then dropping her when your mama says "dont interact with this kid are you stupid" I feel like he was harmless from the start. All talk no action like most people online. Also I was an evil ass kid, I knew what I was doing sometimes too-- I played the game, I lied about my age. Kids do that shit, they want to be adults so badly, not every "adult" is a mature parent with life experience some just turn 18-19 and are suddenly pit between two worlds. Its not to say none of them are terrible but a loser roleplaying with an egirl is low on the prio list of degenerates to worry about. Especially since it was the only proven interaction.

This kid man... look what you need to know is Autism is a huge spectrum. It's also a very hard to understand disability even for people that have it, myself included. I have met someone who was in her 20's and by a trained professional who examined her and did various tests she had the mental age of a 7 year old. I can't express enough how easy it would be for someone to manipulate and take advantage of her. The context of his Autism does play a huge part in all this. Without that information you can't say one way or another. It could likely be that he didn't understand the problem back then. He may still not understand Autism is hard to live with that way. There are still to this day so many things that are common place for neurotypical people that I still don't understand. I'm on the high functioning part of the spectrum so if it's lower on it than I am for example that might explain some things. Also with Autism it's not clear cut what things an individual might understand. You can take two people with Autism on the same general level and they can and most likely will be very different. With their own strengths and weaknesses in what they know and understand. I suck at math for example, but the guy you have right next to me might be an ace at it. We don't follow the same mental rules as you man and it's not something we can control. So yes to reiterate his diagnosis could play a huge part. I don't know the first thing about this guy so I couldn't tell you. This is the first I am hearing it. Though I remember a LioConvoy stream or something like that where he and a full discord server were tearing into a young woman for defending a pedo or something. Her argument was only that the person was nice to her. She was on the same level as that person I said I saw in person. You would understand if you saw someone like that. They really don't know better. They don't have the ability to understand because mentally they are that person you are trying to protect. She sounded just like the person I saw in person. The way they spoke was identical and honestly I think Lio was out of line. He wasn't taking to account that she really didn't understand by no fault of her own. Calling her stupid and everything else he could think of. I really don't think she could understand and all of her responses and the reasons she acted the way she did was because it revolved around she liked it. Now what age do you think would do just that I wonder? A 7 year old maybe? Or someone with the mental age of 7. I don't now if she specifically had Autism, but she sure sounded like it. Well I have gone on enough of a tangent, so the reality is I don't know enough about this to say one way or another. I just have what I have seen up to1:59:43 and I think his understanding of things because of his Autism is important. I'm not necessarily saying it should excuse anything. However I think that depending on how it effects the way he things it should be taken into consideration. The fact is Autism is an anomaly in how the brain works. Sometimes people are really crippled by it and sometimes there are things that people really just don't have the capacity to understand with it. Again I don't know his story or much about any of this to be honest. I just think when it comes to someone on the spectrum their understanding of life should be an important element when deciding anything about them. It's just about ruined my life at this point having a family that holds me to standards I can't reach because part of the reason is speak on a level higher than my ability to understand. My "thing" is or was speech, grammar, spelling and pronunciation. That has betrayed me in life so much. I get called lazy when I tell people i really don't understand something. They tell me I'm not trying when I have genuine issues when it comes to developing a habit. They just expect me to do things like you do. Like neurotypical people do. Like I said it's all a spectrum and you will not find two of us that are the same. We might have similarities though we will always be vastly different in how Autism effects us. Just food for thought. I don't know what to think at this point. There is a lot of back and forth and if feels like nothing is really being said. It's just feeling like at this point this kid is bringing up a 14 year old thing that happened and youtubers need to stay in their lane and stick to the internet. People have ruined lives over less serious things. People on the internet should not under any circumstances be trusted with this. Okay I tried to ignore this, but I have to address it at this point being at the end. What I have heard is so much talk about Autism being an illness and that's not the case. If you think it is you are ill informed. Autism is a thing that affects how the brain operates. It doesn't make the person ill because it's not an illness. It also doesn't make us a retarded loser. The fact that you know so little about it as you talk about this shows how qualified you are weighing in on this to begin with. You are not qualified. That's the point I need to drive home for the people in the back. KZbinrs need to stick to gaming and non important topics because my honest opinion is that they are too stupid and full of themselves thinking they have all the answers for the most part. Disagree with me all you want I don't care. When I hear these people not knowing the first thing about Autism and saying that it's things that it isn't they lose all credibility. If you talk about something such as Autism in relation to such a heavy topic without having an understanding of it you should not be covering this. Honestly the majority of you are just jerks pretending to be smarter than you actually are. Pushing your points of view trying to convince each other one way or another. Point being represented blastr trying to convince the last guy to see things the way he does and the other guy along with him. This is all a big joke and youtubers really need to stay in their lane. They shouldn't talk about things when it involves something that they are not qualified to talk about. That's how people get hurt!

People were saying you were bringing up valid points and that wasn't good enough for you. It's clear this is an attention grab. The whole thing is about Autism and how it drastically effects someone's ability to understand things. How someone with Autism doesn't follow the same rules a neurotypical person does in understanding something. I state examples of why it's important for professionals to make decisions on this and not youtubers who are not qualified.
