The tragedy is, Geto knows he's in the wrong on some level. It's why he has to "keep telling himself he hates monkeys". But in a helpless and awful situation, he chooses the path that gives him self-affirmation and a sense of purpose/conviction, that there's a "meaning" to his killing. It's also why he tells Gojo that if he tried to kill Geto, that there would be meaning to that too, he understands why Gojo would kill him as part of Gojo's conviction. JJK is all about what you choose to live for, and die for.

i always imagined that the story between gojo and geto was a metaphor for depression and suicide. the depression is quite obvious, geto starts having these malevolent thoughts, clearly showing signs of distress (gojo asking geto if he's been losing weight). geto's last words to gojo were something along the lines of "in a world like this, i couldn't find a way to be happy from the bottom of my heart." i believe that geto knew deep down that his beliefs were wrong, and his goals were impossible. he knew that if he followed his envisioned path, it would surely lead to his death. even still, geto chose this death over having to live in a world where he can no longer find meaning. the story between gojo and geto is one of love, and tragedy; the tragedy of not being able to save a friend.

For his whole life as a sorcerer, the cause didn't justify his means. He needed a bigger picture to keep doing what he has to do and taste every flavor of curses humans bring upon themselves. another side we have to understand here is when all this happened geto was just a teenager. a literal kid. he obviously suffered from major depression and mania but never received the support he needed. he also seem to affected by separation anxiety. he never got the guidance or any help from a responsible adult to stop him falling into a deep into the darkness. there was no "gojo sensei" like the main trio does that can speak up or look after the youth back then. gojo knows this, first hand experience. gojo was a kid himself probably understood it too late. that one sentence from the OP which is gojo's pv on geto says "the asphalt ground was echoing the chorus of cicadas, it prevented me from hearing your silence" I think gojo was thinking everything is fine as long as they were together and that happiness of geto being there, even if he was busy with missions probably not seeing him as much overshadowed geto's drifting self to gojo. Yaga on the other hand definitely guilty and failed as a teacher cause after geto defected (too late old man) having those interviews asking the purpose of being a jujutsu sorcerer from new students became a thing for him. And gojo became a teacher to "protect the youth" "change the system". whenever yuji swallows sukuna's fingers it always remind me how geto had to absorb all those horrible tasting curses at the same age probably since even younger age. geto's fate was doomed from the very beginning.

I like this, this is why Gojo behaves goofy and carefree for his students to enjoy their time and youth. He knows they could die at any time, he knows theyre too young to die. They should be able to enjoy baseball shopping eating out and having fun at an arcade. Even though he fails as a "teacher" hes not strict on them to act like sorcerers. If he reprimanded them constantly reminded them that they are sorcerers and can die any time thats very depressing, they are aware of it dont need to be reminded.

It also doesn’t help that kenjaku already had its sights set on getou when he was still a student. This means that even if, in some alternate universe, getou managed to retain his sanity and become a teacher, he would have probably still become a villain sooner or later by kenjaku.

The motivation behind Geto's action isn't necessarily the defending of the "weak". But by the nature of Geto's personality, he empathizes with the weak and seeks out their well-being, which become his tragic downfall. In creative writing, the use of power systems within a fictional universe is not just for entertainment purposes. The abilities that are given to a particular character are writing techniques utilized to draw out a character's personality traits. For example, Toph in Avatar the Last Airbender has the ability to control earth/rocks. Rocks are hard and heavy, Toph's character is stubborn and hard-headed; her powers reflect her character traits. Geto is a very caring and empathetic person. This is demonstrated in his curse technique "Curse Manipulation". In the first episode of season 2 Geto says that no one else knows what curse spirits taste like (swallowing a rag used to clean up sh*t and vomit). In order for Geto to become stronger and more useful in protecting people, he must consume the negative energy manifested as cursed spirits in order to exorcise more cursed spirits; it is a never-ending cycle of consuming curses for a "blessed/good" goal. This burden Geto has taken upon his own shoulders for the good of non-sorcerers. At the end of the Hidden inventory arc it is not a change of conviction that Geto has, but a realization of circumstance. He saw the the flaws of Jujuitsu society, all its politics, selfishness and ugliness. All the negativity of non-sorcerers towards one another and towards sorcerers manifesting itself in-yes, cursed spirits but also the murder of a young, weak, innocent girl wanting to live out her youth. Geto saw cycle he was trapped within, one he chose to serve, he saw his comrades give their lives for such a trivial cycle. Geto came to the conclusion that the only way for him to "fix" the problem was break free from it and to destroy the entire system. Because if he couldn't destroy it- the system would destroy them.

@@valeriyav2149 Interestingly, to go along with your point Geto was happy that Yuta's classmates were trying to defend them against him and he also happy that Yuta was willing to fight him for his own ideals. The only JJK student he didn't like was Maki but I think thats moreso cause his trauma with Toji (Maki is pretty much another Toji) then actually hating her like he hates non-sorcerers. I think Geto was happy with those circumstances as he kind of realized that another kid like him slipping through the cracks wouldn't happen again. Yuta had the potenial of being another Geto if he had no support system and saw the worst of humanity and talked to the wrong people. He very easily could of gone that way. Geto saw that that wasn't the case for him and was actually happy for that even with all the bloodshed in the process. I am also sure he still trusts Gojo to know Gojo was doing a good job with helping him. Basically I think Geto was happy because the new generation wasn't repeating the cycle his was in. They were supporting eachother and willing to fight together for each other. To be stronger as a whole than alone.

@valeriyav2149 Жыл бұрын
@@WeaverOfStars I agree. he understood what Gojo has been doing to fix the system. even if it doesn't solve the root of the problem, it makes the life of sorcerers better. this generation has adults around them who actually care and protect them with Gojo in the lead. something Geto and others didn't have. obviously, he didn't even try to kill any of the sorcerers, which is exactly what Gojo trusted him to do, but he didn't even finish Maki off despite his supposed hatred. it reminded me of Gege saying Geto had to remind himself every day that he hated non-sorcerers to keep going

Sort of is my answer there. Because yes you run the risk of people's fear creating even stronger horrors, but likewise if any of these places heavily invested in mental health...that would be the answer. Having people understand the power of their fears and thus being able to both manage them and control them...well that would make for way less curses and way weaker curses. Sorcerers might as well be exterminators at that point. You call a sorcerer if you think something funny is going on. But the issue here specifically is that it would take a massive societal overhaul and that is hard and doing nothing is easy.

@TheCrazyCapMaster
@TheCrazyCapMaster Жыл бұрын
I like your idea presented in the latter half of the video. There’s just one thing I’m worried about, one potential issue that could arise: if people begin to learn about cursed spirits and some people fear them enough to start learning jujutsu, but not all, then there’s a chance that a cursed spirit representing that fear of cursed spirits could manifest. That could be REALLY bad, who knows what kind of things it could do? Could it control other cursed spirits? Could it steal the techniques of other cursed spirits? Could it mess with someone else’s cursed energy? This could be something trivial, or more dangerous than Sukuna.
@coltonwilliams4153

I disagree with his idea. Just telling the people about cursed spirits is just going to make things worse. If someone tells you not to think of a certain thing, then what’s the first thing you’re going to think of? What’s that quote from Men In Black? I forget the exact wording, but humans are stupid, panicky creatures that will stampede for nearly any reason. Honestly, the only way to deal with the source of curses without killing everyone is likely to be mass mind control to keep everyone docile without feeling fear or hatred. Which is impossible, and even if it was possible, it’d be just as horrible an idea as genocide.

Because he had such strong moral character, and he had to go through so much. Ingesting the curses which were described as disgusting only for the people. He was trying to protect to mock him when Riko died. Afterwards, hes suffering from PTSD And because he is separated from his best friend Due to circumstance, nobody notices his downward decline. He gets a little glimmer of hope with hibara, but he gets killed the same episode, and then he sees the two girls and finally snaps. He's a much more compelling villain than let's say naraku who was more "waaa the girl didn't like me im going to be a menace".😂

I think the part where they should inform non-sorcerers may bring more harm than good, in a sense that jujutsu knowledge at a global scale could create things like: 1. Government-sanctioned jujutsu sorcery as weaponry (imagine cursed energy harnessed as nuclear-level weapons) 2. As a result of (1), some governments might resort to massive "emotional manipulation" of their own people just to harvest more cursed energy 3. Legislations that could result in discrimination against jujutsu sorcerers, (like that in X-Men) For me, these 3 reasons far outweigh the good, which is people having the awareness and thus control over their fears and emotions. (knowing the current state of our world, if Jujutsu sorcery really exists, it is best to keep it to themselves lmao)

No because if you have read the manga you basically know that the JJK world and the nature of curses was manipulated for centuries in various ways to create this outcome and that was done without the influence of humans but people like Kenjaku, Tengen And Sukuna. Geto basically saw a symptom and was emotionally hurt into accepting said extreme there were other options he just could not forgive the concept of humanity after the pain normal humans gave him. Yuki, Kenjaku, Tengen both think its possible to make everyone into curse users But given everything we know Geto lacked so much info (also he was influenced by the negative energy of the curses he absorbed and slowly was influenced by that as well) In practise/theory its sound but it practically requires you to ignore so much you have to be emotionally driven to accept said outcome. it's alot different than say magneto or Eren where there cause not a by product of the world but a product of peoples direct interaction with them If you are willing to blame the world for your death then you should also blame the world for your birth too

Geto is correct. So is Gojo. So is Yuki. So is Itadori. So is Megumi. So is Sukuna. SPOILERS AHEAD Yes. Even Sukuna is correct in his ideology. They're all correct because they all have the exact same ideology. I went back and read what Sukuna was saying to Itadori, and I thought about it. All of them have the same ideology, but it's at different stages attached to different personalities, and so it yields drastically different results from each of them. Sukuna's ideology can be summarized simply as, "The Strong should rule, the weak don't deserve to be happy." And while that may sound horrible on it's face, it is true. How? Look at Itadori. Sukuna asked him why was he weak. The weak exist at the whims of the strong. Everyone in Shibuya was weaker than Sukuna, so when Sukuna said "Don't run from the meteor or I off you" they had no choice but to obey. Itadori, as strong as he was, he was extremely weak in comparison to others. He had to become stronger to stand against Mahito. Let's look at Gojo. Gojo is strong but he wants others to be strong too. He doesn't want them to be weak because he knows only the strong get to live and only the strong can be saved. As he says, it's not enough that he alone be strong. Let's look at Geto. He wants to get rid of non-sorcerers, and he's willing to go through with it because he's strong enough to even make the attempt, even though he isn't the strongest. Strength & Weakness are the core ideological through line in the series. Should the Strong protect the Weak or do as they please? What does it mean to be strong? What does it mean to be weak? But what's not negotiable is that you have to be Strong to even get to ask those question. I choose who to save and do so unequally (Megumi and Geto). But to make that choice, to save the people I want to save, I must be strong (Itadori). However it's not enough that I be strong, others must be strong as well (Gojo and Sukuna). The same ideology, just different stages applied in different forms by different people.

Sorry but I think this take is wrong… To start imo the main point of the show is about death and life not strength and weakness, but that’s very debatable Then, to relate Geto’s fascist ideals to Itadori’s and Gojo’s philosophy is just weird… An ideology is a system of ideas and ideals. That being said, the only thing all of those characters ideology have in common is the value of strengh, that’s not enough similarity to say they are the same. Gojo have always been the strongest and treated as so, so inherently strenght is important to him. The shift is when he realises he can’t save everyone, so he wants people to be strong to not rely on him so much, this way they have more chance to survive. Itadori wants to help people and save those he could, bc thats his purpose in life and bc he doesn’t want to die alone. To do that he needs to be strong. Sukuna is a hedonist, he lives for his pleasures, and to do that he needs to be strong to escape the consequences. He also takes pleasure in fighting and becoming stronger Geto think of Jujutsu sorceres as perfected humans, and want the “weak” all to die, bc he has no respect for them. I think your last paragraph that sumarizes a single ideology with all their points combined pretty good and makes sense. Except i dont think Sukuna wanting other’s to be strong makes much sense there, and the “unequaly” part of Megumi and Geto are not comparable, Megumi chooses to save assortatively bc he knows he can’t save all, Geto chooses to save ONLY the strong by actively attacking the weak…

For tsunamis by your example, knowing that by YOUR specific fear YOU may influence and hurt more people. It COULD create massive fear, people feeling guilt etc, which only makes the problem worse. This tactic, yes, it could make things better or it could make them worse. Keep up the great videos!

1:35 Nagato ended up being correct though. The "peace" that was achieved during Naruto's reign as Hokage was due to the fact that the other nations are too scared to cause trouble because of how ridiculously powerful Naruto and Sasuke had become. Just like Nagato's idea to have this super powerful Bijuu weapon, which technically Hokage Naruto right now, to force every nation to stay in line. Hence why the main antagonist in Boruto had to come from outer space with crazy ninjutsu negating abilities.

Honestly, if humans fix their societal issues and took care of peoples mental health, and didn’t leave people behind, most of this cursed spirit business wouldn’t even be an issue because no one would be afraid or have negative feelings all the time. Like if people have everything they need and have to opportunities they need to survive and thrive. Like what would there be to be upset about? Also, yes, knowledge is power, and everyone knew about spirits and curses they could all fight against them and eliminate them. The more people that can use the special technique, the better.

I think there should've been stress put on the fact that if all non-sorcerers were wiped out curse spirits would no longer be created. I'm not saying Geto's ideology is correct, genocide is wrong. But I do think that it is important to bring up that part of his goal in getting rid of all non-sorcerers was to rid the world of cursed spirits thus eliminating the death and destruction caused by cursed spirits.

I halfway expect Tengen's long-term plan to be the same as Geto's, just with the added caveat that he's allowing the population of humans rise high enough that there will be enough Sorcerers to continue the species and he pulls the rug out from beneath Humanity's feet. There's really no other way of dealing with the issue of Curses long-term, and the vast majority of humans were already going to die anyways, either it be to old age, sickness, or each other. Better to leave a better world for those who come after them than trying to uselessly claw unto life for themselves...

I am so glad I have finally found a logical thinker on social media. Most people create opinions based on personal circumstances and call them facts, then try to spread their "facts" and force them on other people, just as they do with ideologies, as you explained. Your analysis is on point! Geto's my favourite character and you really did him justice; not just by highlighting his reasons, and why he believed he was right, but also by adding, at the end, that his method was wrong, while keeping the entire situation as beautifully complex as it is. I mean, it is always better to simplify things for people to understand, but we mustn't simplify more than we can, that is, we can't change facts just for stupid people to be able to knock them into their skulls.

Suguru Geto sought transcendence, as Gojo had. As all people do, to alleviate their suffering. Basically, due to his feelings of insecurity, alienation, and loss of purpose, he sought to transcend his human condition. There are two means by which people achieve transcendence: Creation, and Destruction... Destruction is easy, exhilarating, but ultimately ruins whatever chance you may have had of reaching true transcendence. It's why we see the shift in his cognition so quickly after he gives into his impulse for destructiveness and commits his first spree of murders, where he develops a god complex - He had achieved negative transcendence and finally felt as though he had the power; a purpose to live for

When we talk about this subject. Do we consider how fragile human beings are ? How much our world can flip when we see through what is in the rabit hole? Is it not like you announce to the world, & The people would listen. It is more like a Damage to society, Chaos etc. If conveying your message, Agreeing and have a mutual understanding was so easy. Human society would never have hatred or War to begin with. So saying Eren, Geto etc "Oh Did they Try to this or that, Or atleast teach them would've changed the outcome" Is completely wrong. Wrong for 1 reason :- They took the consideration of what it is which I mentioned above and adding to their own experience and what they saw is accumulation of everything which resulted in what they finally come up with. There isn't such thing as Right and Wrong when you discuss about such topics to be honest.

Basically what I'm understanding is that Geto views the bliss and freedom afforded to the physically weak by their own ignorance and immense numbers. The weak as the majority, hold control over society, and thus wield a particular type of power over the physically strong. He sees that type of power as the greater form, and as such he thinks that the societally weak (sorcerers) need protection from the strong (non-sorcerers). I understand that about right?

I think some points in this video aren’t accurate. It’s simple, Geto was a person who believed the strong should help the “weak” which are non sorcerers. After fighting Toji and witnessing the hatred and disguising nature of some humans towards them even though it kills him and his friends everyday to save them, it made him rethink things. And after learning that humans actually make curses in the first place he decides they are the problem so he aims to solve it at the root. Simple

Both Eren and Geto have utilitarian philosophies that choose to protect the many by sacrificing the few, which I gather can come off as confusing when we're talking about two people who want to kill off the majority of the human population in favor of a small group of the human population, but you have to realize what population groups they're actually measuring. Eren's is actually a bit more obvious because he's weighing the Eldian lives within the Walls to the Eldian lives outside of the Walls, and he reasons that, if in order to protect the majority of Eldians who are in the Walls from the dangers of the non-Eldians outside of the Walls, he must kill all of the Eldians outside of the Walls too, then that is a reasonable sacrifice to make. Geto's is a bit less obvious because he's sort of weighing two different camps, and in Camp A you have Jujutsu Sorcerers, and in Camp B you have no Jujutsu Sorcerers (and a couple billion non-Sorcerers), and so he understandably comes to the conclusion that Camp A with the majority Sorcerers should survive. One could argue however that Sorcerers who stand against him wind up in Camp B, hence the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

The the best part about characters like Geto. Objectively he isn’t wrong, morally he also isn’t wrong, if he wants to get rid of Curse’s the fastest way to go about it is to erase the masses of monkeys. There isn’t a doubt in my mind that if Gojo was with Geto when he saved those 2 girls from the villagers he’d be the first one to start the slaughter. He was ready to erase the room of people celebrating the death of Amanai. Imagine if he saw them abusing the other 2.

Come on man 😅, humans have never been able to find a global harmony only based in morals or ethics. You can tell me it’s sad the our people have this pride in individualism and no respect at all for the fact that we are the same in so many aspects. It’s been like that for the previous 11 000 years of human history and it’s going to be like that until the end of us. Only love, hate or fear can make a human being dedicate his life entirely to something and it is emotionally, spiritually and physically impossible for us ALL to love, hate or fear the same. It is mainly because we are different that the hate started and there’s gonna be hate until we are all the same. For that we would have to give away our own interests, dreams and plans and I don’t think me or you or anyone it’s ever going to be ready for that. I respect a lot your opinion and I truly believe that we can be better as a race, but the truth does not respect what we believe ( I love your videos btw, always such an amazing food for thought). We’ve been finding more ways to divide ourselves on a dally basis for over 10 000 years. Wars, religion, politics, classes, rases, sexuality, even nationality. It never stops because it’s in our nature to care for US first and then the rest. I hope nobody ever (EVER) gains the individual power to unify the human rase like we see in JJK or AOT. If it happens the only way to do it based in truth we’ll be to eliminate all the other variables 😢. Sorry for the long comment and dark morals, it’s just objective man truly. Peace man ✌🏻
