elizabeth dying on her birthday would also add to why she was seemingly so desperate to see baby and, as you pointed out, was willing to “bargain” with william to see her. like “just this one time, as a birthday gift?”
@poppunkrock1418 күн бұрын
also the other kids abandoning her. makes sense why she was even there. none of the kids would’ve invited her, and why else would william bring her to the restaurant’s grand opening at all if he wants her to stay away from baby. having all the kids run off without you at your own birthday tho? relatable, rip elizabeth.

The "I kidnapped you" line from Baby being whispered also feels like a child telling you a secret they're proud of sharing with you, like "I did this cool thing but it's a secret shh!!" That excitement and pride that comes through for their accomplishment.

She sounds like she's toying with the player...which i guess is exactly in line with Baby's character. Relishing in the helplessness of our situation while also of course giving us advice and guidance on how to survive at the same time. I actually Quite like that aspect of Baby's Character, how she's sarcastic and takes jabs at the player, toys with them and makes them feel uncomfortable but is then also weirdly playful and comforting in a way at the same time, Despite the situation she has supposedly put you in. I really liked how that aspect of her duplicitous nature showed itself in that scene. Its interesting how even as the player you are inclined to trust her (and of course you do in the true ending), despite her telling you that she 'kidnaped you'. And its so interesting how she's able to gain the trust of the player even while doing so, WHILE you are actively trying to survive trapped in that springlock suit. *Now that i think about it... I actually don't actually remember. What was the reason Baby 'kidnapped you' in that 4th Night? Anyway, I always liked Baby's personality. Its just so fascinating, it's incredible how she can be sinister, and creepy, but also helpful and comforting all at the same time. Makes her...Dare i say, more "Human"...than any of the other characters in this series. And i can clearly see why she would be a favourite for so many purely for that reason alone.

49:55 I feel your analysis of Elizabeth being alone/without friends tracks when you remember that not only was her brother (whom she conspicuously *never brings up even once)* seemingly ostracized by other kids his age and older (so much so that he called his plushies of the Fazbear Gang his friends) but Charlie was also left outside by other kids her age. Both incidents of bullying whether by thier peers or seniors ultimately led to their deaths. Like Elizabeth. Makes you wonder if being the child of a successful restaurant owner paints a target on your back or something.
@BelleAn18511 күн бұрын
My thoughts exactly. At first, I thought that maybe the reason they were both ostracised from their peers was the fact that they're both children of the restaurant owner, and maybe the children were jealous of some perceived benefit in that regard. But during the part of the video that discusses Elizabeth referring to other kids as "children," it seems that the siblings were expected to act more mature than their peers. If William raised them to be overly cautious or respectful of him, either for manner's sake or to make them less of a bother so to speak, it sounds like they might have a harder time connecting with their peers. To other kids, they might seem to have strange mannerisms, due to their sheltered and strict upbringing. Especially with the crying child seeming to always be an anxious mess easily moved to tears, and Elizabeth always having this sad, quiet, doe-eyed longing about her.

I think Baby’s almost apologetic tone at the end of Sister Location is indicative of the fact that that is the point where Elizabeth has finally recognized Michael and broke that realization through to Circus Baby, but Circus Baby knows that it’s too late to stop the plan… and that she doesn’t want to. I feel like you can almost feel Elizabeth begging for the whole thing to stop in the back of Baby’s mind, but it’s manifesting as Baby begging Michael to understand why this is going to happen to him; including even recreating his sister’s angry voice to manipulate him. That also explains why she would reassure him that he won’t die. I don’t think that connects to the disdain & resentment she treats William with, but it does seem like something she would offer to a beloved victim of collateral damage.

TRUE!!!!! SOMEONE GET THIS MAN A TRUE!!!!!!!! I’m so happy you dispelled the Elizabeth “spoiled child” allegations, I’ve never fully understood it. Like, I thought it was funny at times, y’know, but I never fully thought she actually was a spoiled child. Maybe the golden child of the family, the one William cares for most (not that he really cares for the others at all), but not a Spoiled Child. I also am really happy to see someone share the idea that Baby isn’t fully acting when she’s being sympathetic and remembering on Elizabeth and such. I’ve always felt like people make Baby out to be a lot more villainous than she actually is. Yeah, she was built with the purpose to kill, and she embraces that in FNaF 6, but she clearly isn’t entirely happy with it. Elizabeth and Baby are honestly characters that simultaneously are purported as very important to the FNaF lore, but also ones whose characters are often overlooked or incorrectly portrayed. I had honestly been holding off on watching the video since I enjoy your content a lot and wanted to like… process the fact you made this, I guess? I dunno, could just be my ADHD or sumn. I feel like the "Did you know that? I can make ice cream!" is almost a mockery of William's Afton's ego. She is basically going 'You thought you were so great, but really, you were a failure".

What a heartbreaking analysis. The inrerpretation of Elizabeth being a "spoiled brat" never sit right with me, and you explained exactly why I felt like that. She's honestly such an interesting character that often gets overlooked or mischaracterized by the fandom and it deeply saddens me as she's my favorite Afton. Your Circus Baby analysis is also really refreshing! She's mostly remembered by her desire to make William proud, and I've seen many folks make her some sort of William-obsessed imitation killer. That's not her at all, she's a very complex character, and I think she'd probably have very conflicting feelings towards Will since Elizabeth loved him (as any child her age does, idealizing their parents) but Circus Baby herself seemed to resent him to an extent. I always love your voice lines analysis, they're always a breath of fresh air in a fandom that seems to overlook these tiny details that make the characters who they are. Seeing this video was a pleasant surprise, since I was rewatching some of your videos just yesterday haha!

@turtlelongingforchaos905516 күн бұрын
I wonder if Circus Baby's opening day was a sort of publicity stunt by Afton. Assuming he and Henry split their business by this point, it could be his way of proving to the public that he's still got it. It being Elizabeth's birthday is less important then how people aill think highly of him for throwing the opening party for his own daughter. Heck, maybe Elizabeth got the idea that Baby was made for her when she heard it secondhand. William was flaunting in an interview or conversation with anorher adult, trying to make himself look good, and said he made the star animatronic as a gift for Elizabeth when that was never the intention. It also makes Elizabeth being alone much sadder. All the other kids were probably the children of people William invited, not really friends of hers, if she had any. If she did maybe someone would have noticed she was gone.

One other thing I’d like to point out. Elizabeth wasn’t alone with William in the time leading up to her death. Micheal was there too, and he didn’t make an effort to reach out to her. Micheal was burdened by his own trauma, very likely the guilt that came with his mistreatment of Dave, and because of that another member of his family was lost. I feel like a lot of people miss out on this complexity, which is a tragedy since the dynamic it creates between protagonist and antagonist is so incredibly engaging. Keep up the good work, this is some of the best FNAF discussion/theory crafting I’ve seen in fanbase history. Would love to see you tackle Henry some time in the future, dissecting that monologue sounds like it would be a ton of fun!

@csoxx16 күн бұрын
I think that by not being an important figure in Elizabeth's life, Micheal felt he couldn't do any more harm. He felt that instead of trying to have a relationship with her and messing it up, not having a relationship with her at all would remove any risk of hurting another family member altogether. It is possible that they did have a relationship, but I like this idea considering that Liz never mentions him.
@Girlfriekdd13 күн бұрын
I’m not sure if it’s ever implied that Michael was really around Elizabeth after cc’s death,especially on the day that she died.Personally I think that Michael was taken into a mental hospital for at least some time after the bite,considering how you,Michael Afton (the player during the nights),in Fnaf 4 see pills on the bedside.The only way you can get pills is if you are diagnosed and seeing a therapist. Elizabeth never mentions Michael,if he was there or at least present a little bit before her death I think that she would.I also think that he would just go and see circus baby with her because there would be no reason for him to not tbh.This could also be why circus baby doesn’t recognise the player,because Elizabeth hadn’t seen Michael in a long time.
@Poseidon4862.13 күн бұрын
@ Even if so, Micheal was still her brother. He likely harbored some guilt for being absent in her life, especially if the accident he caused was what led to his absence in the first place. As for Baby, I agree that she doesn’t have a solid memory of Micheal in her past life. There’s a reason she confused him with William, after all.

I can imagine it now, Elizabeth wakes up on her birthday hopeing that someone in her family remembered or even noticed. She walked up to her father’s desk and tentatively asks if he got her anything or even remembered her birthday. William is a bad father and a worse human being, so of course he didn’t. However maybe to make himself feel better (I doubt it), or more likely to simply appease Elizabeth says the thing he’s been working on this entire time in her birthday gift, and Elizabeth is thrilled to be remembered and that she got something.

I really enjoyed your videos on Michael and William's voice lines as well--you really do a good job exploring the complexity of these characters, your insights are some of my favorites. While I enjoy other channels' theory videos, it really is delightful to hear someone focus on the characters and the writing, since that's something I really enjoy!

thought of something interesitng, when you where talking about circus baby's "cold hearted killer" persona and longing for being back on the stage. my first thought was that this is similar to mangle in AR (though mangle's persona thing is more about how they long to be back to being toy foxy again and how they though they shouldn't and cant go back) and given that Elizabeth is represented by mangle in fnaf 4 and ucn, and funtime foxy being a "repaired" mangle, i think that could be Scott truing to highlight Elizabeth's longing for affection given that both animatronics she is associated with in the series share that longing

This was a very thorough and heartbreaking dive into what little we get to see of Elizabeth! Admittedly, I have also tended to characterize Lizzie as "spoilt" (though for me it was always with the nuance that it didn't really _come_ from anything, because William didn't give her any more attention than he did his other kids - if anything, I always thought she tried to mimic *his* behavior, and even so, it was mostly in how she interacted with her brothers, and collapsed under any kind of scrutiny) but I find the dead-eyed, overly polite, deeply _yearning_ characterization to make more sense with what we're given in canon. I've never really considered the utter _loneliness_ of her character, which is odd, because she never struck me as the type to have friends - Baby's "standing by herself" line has always stuck with me - but it is so _dismal_ how this little girl went *missing* within one blink and the next and *no one noticed.* For *HOURS.* It has never struck me how she was so content to talk to, basically, a brick wall with a smiley face painted on, but MAN it is hitting me now. One of the things that I've always sort of subconsciously noticed is, like you said, how it feels like she's holding herself back. Like she _wants_ to talk loudly, but is too scared to. That just breaks my heart. How dedicated she is to being Good and Proper, especially when you consider her brothers - Mike's* loud, disruptive and *mean,* CC's visibly terrified and prone to breaking down at every moment. You get the feeling she wants to be "The Good One". Perhaps because she's scared of how William will react, or, more likely imo, she thinks it will earn her the affection she's been denied. Perhaps she may even feel a bit slighted that her brothers *get* to be loud and obnoxious, may even get *some* kind of attention for it (even if it's negative). (Mike, in particular, seems to be something of The Favorite, but it's hard to say.) I have always had a soft spot for Elizabeth, but it is *bleeding* right now. I, so badly, want to braid her hair and give her some ice cream. Give Her To Me I will take her to school and talk about her day and encourage her interest in clowns and read her bedtime stories and I'll even take her brothers too, Give Them To Me (*Assuming Mike is Foxybro, which is what we've all been more or less sticking to this whole time, but we still dooon't have confirmation on that. Perhaps Foxybro is a secret fourth sibling or something, I've seen similar theories floating around.) Also the editing is awesome in these. Watching Elizabeth's little sprite bop around was adorable and heartbreaking, and I found myself giggling at pretty much all of the jokes.

also, the "other children" is i think because william kept comparing her with others like, "you are to be more well manered than other children" and other such phrases to the point thats just how she refers to them
@arcaneafterhours10 күн бұрын
i think also with the introduction of scrap baby, the roles of the two reversed. originally, elizabeth was the helpless, confused one who didn't know what to do after her death. and baby was the complex, calculated one with a plan. i think that with the introduction of scrap baby, baby's original mannerisms and intentions bled out into elizabeth, and (as elizabeth technically would have aged) she began to adapt the same murderous and angered demeanor that she unfortunately learned from baby(thus leaving her to be the primary personality taking the lead with scrap baby), while baby fell into the role of not knowing what to do with herself and being faced with helplessness after her escape plan, while successful, ultimately fell short.

This. This is an spectacular video, from an equally spectacular channel. I feel I can’t understate the sheer incomparable love I have for your analyses, as well as your channel. I find it to be the most entertaining, satisfying, and enjoyable FNaF videos on the internet. No hyperbole. Your videos ooze passion and care for the characters and topics you talk about. You treat these characters with the respect and kindness that many real people don’t have for each other. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. You’re also amazing at video editing (and voice acting! I heard you in UCFT and was amazed!) and your commentary is always solid and entertaining. That being said about you, I always wondered how Elizabeth felt about the fact that she KILLED her older brother. She seemed reluctant to kill William for sure, even knowing of the things he’d done to her and the Funtimes (and, assumedly, the fact that Circus Baby was designed to KILL CHILDREN). So imagine her surprise when she finds out it was her brother! In the Scrap Baby line, “…It feels like my birthday…” you mention that she’s responding to the fact that she knows and understands that this is her brother, yknow, the one she wrongly mistook for her father, and accidentally murdered. However, the line is said AFTER she kills the player. She doesn’t even offer an apology, maybe she thinks that bringing back to life was good enough? Via her reassurance, “You won’t die.” Yet she doesn’t acknowledge his ‘death’ to herself aside from that. Is she trying to convince her self he didn’t suffer through it? Denying what she can’t really know? Does she know he killed her other brother? Is this some form of revenge? Also, you mention her loneliness. If you believe she died before the Crying Child did, then, assumedly, she doesn’t feel like they are her company(?), and instead feels lonely despite their sibling relationship. If you believe that she died after CC did. The same is true, just sadder. Did she not feel she could turn to her brothers ever? I wonder if William drove them apart somehow. Michael seems to care very deeply about her in his own speech, yet she barely mentions him. Even after he ‘freed’ her. Does this indicate possible resentment? That even with him around while she was alive, she still felt alone and unloved? Was Michael as rude as he was to the CC as he was to her? Sorry, my unfiltered FNaF thoughts were a lot longer than I anticipated. Great video and Greetings From Alaska! See you next year when you drop your next annual video ;)

Elizabeth dying on her birthday is a nice parallel to her brother, "Evan's," death (still unsure if that's Crying Child's name). They both died on their birthday (okay technically Evan might have died days later in the hospital, but you get the point) at the hands of an animatronic William produced (likely co-produced when it comes to Fredbear, but eh), going on to haunt said animatronic after the fact. As well, while a bit of a stretch, William and Micheal, two Aftons related by paternity who consistently are confused for each other and are both "Purple Guys", have major roles in the accidental death of each: Micheal wanted to prank Evan, accidentally killing him in the process. William wanted to murder children, with his decision to both A, let Elizabeth anywhere near Baby, and B, lie to Elizabeth regarding Baby's nature, resulting in her death. I 100% subscribe to the theory that Elizabeth died on her birthday. Plus, it serves additional reasoning as to why Willy A. even let his child in the same building as his murder robot; Baby was meant to entertain (and maybe kidnap) the kids at her party, while she was expected to stay away.

*snap snap* you cooked and it was delicious. I love the idea of Baby being a birthday present and also YOU GET IT Elizabeth was not spoiled she was so polite and meek. My personal theory for the switch is that in SL, she had the other Funtimes, she had a plan to escape with them. Whatever the relationship between them, she wouldn’t be wholly alone. But in FnaF6, she didn’t have them anymore. She wasn’t in the basement but she was all alone, and then all the sudden, the person she thought of as her father thanks to Elizabeth; was calling her back and giving her a purpose, a way to not be alone
@amberluppens329210 күн бұрын
This video is the first time I’ve ever heard that people describe Elizabeth as “spoiled”. I’ve never gotten that impression from her, she always sounds so sad. If anything I get the impression she’s been neglected.

Very late into this video unfortunately but I LOVE THIS ANALYSIS OF BABY AND LIZ, I can even go as far as to say that this is the best analysis of liz and baby i've ever seen, It's so well documented, liz and babys sprites are so adorable!!! I love that idea that the incident of elizabeth took place in her bday, And it makes it even sadder to hear that she has no friends, She had her bday to herself 😭😭😭 I love the way you analyzed baby aswell, Like i never thought of her to most of what you've just said, Back when i was at my brainrot peak of SL (2019ish and these past few years too) i always thought of her as a misunderstood character, Never thought of her to have sinister intentions but for a reason, There's so much i love abt this video, Also that 1:02:24 AWWWW IT'S SO ADORABLEEE, YOU REALLY HAD TO HIT ME WITH THAT ENDING 😭💕💞 You can obv tell how traumatized these 2 are, that ending is well deserved 😔

YES. Earned a subscriber, a like, a share, and a rewatch, I LOVE this video, thank you for bringing such an integral & under-appreciated character to light in such an analyzed and caring way! Something I’d like to point out about the personality shift in Scrap Baby’s motivations, it’s also possible this happened because of the chip containing Circus Baby’s personality that was taken out by Micheal on night 5. That chip contained her voice, which we put into hand unit, which allowed her to keep speaking to us. Once the chip was out, she seemed content with letting her body be destroyed, still notably containing Elizabeth Afton’s soul & body, which then became apart of the amalgamation to form Ennard, which then was spit out to form Scrap Baby, which would explain the sudden shift in her motives. Anyways, just another theory inspired by Fuhnaff’s theory on Circus Baby’s chip, I’ll reference it in an edit if I remember on a rewatch. Thanks for pointing me to Rus’s content, you have allowed a fellow Elizabeth/Baby-comfort-character-enthusiast to continue indulging in their hyperfixation through means previously unknown (I don’t use Twitter)

38:00 I don't think its that weird that Elizabeth refers to other children as such. My mom has told me that when I was around 2 years old I would point at children and teenagers in public and say "other baby", exited that I recognized a peer. Even when I was a little older (3-4 years old) I remember calling kids at the kindergarten "other kids" and my friends would do the same. When we just said "the others" that would include adults. I don't think I was neglected or conditioned to be highly aware of my age, I simply was. Maybe its the cultural differences, maybe its an autistic thing or a generational difference and I know anecdotal evidence doesn't really mean much but I just thought I'd share my thoughts on this. Thank you for the wonderful video btw, I enjoyed it a lot :)
@bonkboy438616 күн бұрын
No no, there's definitely merit to your anecdote. I'm no psychologist or anything, but I think it is only natural that children around the age where they're first figuring out how to speak would use observational language like that, that's very typical. Elizabeth sounds just a little older than that age to me, but you do raise a good point, especially about neurodivergence being a potential factor - I hadn't considered that. Thanks for offering your perspective :]
