I think the biggest potential for them is in Firestorm. They get to have assault so can advance and shoot which helps their relatively low movement and will help them get into melta range more often. They go to S10 within 12" which puts them wounding T9 on 3s and T10 on 4s, so makes them more reliable at wounding, plus you can pair the biologis with them for lethal hits and the enhancement that lets you change a hit roll to a 6, which means you can guarantee a lethal hit, so likely with the re-rolls to hit are going to get at least two lethal hits if not 3 out of a 6 man unit, which somewhat bypasses the issue with them wounding on 4s or 5s against tough stuff because you are likely auto-wounding at least twice, with re-rolls to get more wounds. So if you think you average 6.5 hits, you can turn one of those misses into a auto-wound, so in theory should have at least one other auto-wound from the 6.5, so are then doing wound rolls for 5.5 hits, which you can re-roll so you should be wounding at least another 2 (likely 3 against T9 or T10), so you are then on average forcing 4-5 saves on your opponent at AP4. That then is their key factor, yes in vanilla form they are wounding on 5s against T10 or above, but if you do wound, they are AP4, so against non invul stuff you are forcing saves of 6 even against a 2+ save. A lot of marine stuff does not have AP4, most lascannons are AP3, so that together with their built in re-rolls for hits, wound AND damage, is their big strength. So if you can find stuff to boost their wounding (Firestorm +1S, Lethal Hits from Biologis, enhancement in firestorm, thunderstrike speeder giving +1 to wound etc.) then you are looking at forcing quite a few AP4 saves with 'reliable' D6 damage. As DTM mentions of course your opponent could role multiple 4+ invuls, but if you hit two lancer shots they only need to roll two invuls to blank your lancer, against your vindicator demolisher, you hit about an average on 4 shots, again that is only 4 invul saves someone has to make, so Eradicators are likely forcing more saves anyway and have buffs to force even more.

@lawrences1347 eh, I think in Ironstorm those points are better spent on a Redemptor, Reaper, or Redemptor #2 or #3. I think that after the Ironstorm tax you're best off going for the Baal Predator just for that JUICY triple flamer

Nice one John. Yeah I've been really enjoying MSU Eradicators in combination with the Librarian Dread for BA. 95pts for three that the opponent has to pay attention to. They're useful. I personally wouldn't attach any characters, maybe not even if I were taking units of 6. Vindicators are also great IMO.

Submission for the Army List show. Leaders: Phobos Cap with Eliminators 2 Phobos Lts with Incursors Jump Cap with Sang Priest and Van Vets Enhancements let me Vect a strat once per game with phobos captain and give Van Vet unit Infiltrate. The plan is to put them somewhere they will be relatively safe from shooting in case I go second, hopefully on an objective so I can set up the sticky booby trap to cause mortals. Afterwards they can surgically strike enemy units as they move up the field. The 4+ invulns and 5+ FNP should keep them ticking for several turns. The phobos captain lets me redeploy all 3 phobos units if I need to including putting them in reserves to psyche out my opponent. Can pay 1CP every turn to put either the jump unit into reserves or 2 phobos units. The incursor units can be thrown by the Lib Dread, shoot then use the Lt ability to move d6", make an easier charge and trigger the haywire mine in beginning of fight phase. Lethal hits from the Lts will mean some chip damage here and there. Captain with eliminators will use the +1BS and AP strat for free every shooting phase to try and pick off any characters or do some chip damage to vehicles... or just do actions. They get move shoot move as well to keep them alive longer. If any phobos units get charged can make them move 6" for 1CP as well. Generally just trying to score high and disrupt the opponent. The armor in the list is just to soften up targets and protect my deployment zone. DC Dreads start in reserves to ambush vehicles or monsters as needed. Glad you've taken a deep dive look at the Eradicators, I had them in my submission list and I've been using them since, they are really devestating. I've also used rapid ingress before to bring them on from board edge in enemy players turn. Get to move in your turn close enough for the melta 2 to proc. I wonder if the Melta ability added to the strength of the attack, when targeting a monster or vehicle within half range, instead of adding to the damage, if they would be better? This would be more on par with how melta used to work with getting an extra die when rolling for Armour penatration. Melta weapons are not necessary strong weaponry, but they are specialized at piercing through armour.

My collection is a bit limited on anti-tank in general so I've always taken my 3 eradicators, but I love them! They put 10 wounds on a redemptor coming out of reserves in my last game. The dread was finished off in the same turn with S6 heavy intercessors (firestorm detachment). My six aggressors are currently on the painting table at this moment. Gravis for life!

I would also like to say that eradicators in anvil siege will have +1 to wound as they are Heavy weapons. I know it ain't the best strategy to be standing around but +1 to hit and wound if standing holding an objective would be tasty. Like these videos John, keep it up!

Hey Jon, good video. I remember that game at the start of tenth and remembered nothing that you hadn't used either the reroll damage or one of the bolter discipline rules. I forget which. You even noted that too in a follow up video. Youve been harping on eradicators since. Just my two cents. I haven't used them much myself but want to try.

Yeah Ive had a decent amount of success running 6 with a Gravis Biologis + Fire Discipline and teleporting with Librarian Dread. Definitely not a staple for me but i consider it all the time now.

Hey, i am new to the channel, but i will spend some time here as i am playing BAs (ofc). I just restarted into the Hobby and i have some Questions: 1) How long will we have to wait for a BA Codex? (in your opinion) 2) Do you think they will get a total rework? Will we lose the likes of Lib Dread, Sang Guard and the othe firstbornes? 3) Do you think we will be able to play new Jump Primaris as DC? 4) Whats the best loadout for Sang Guard in 10th (I will Dante lead them)? 5) In which unit would you place Mephiston? 6) Do you think we will get a new MOdel for Astorath and will he be able to lead Primaris DC?

Probably late 2024 before a BA codex hits shelves and it's very hard to say what all will be changing. I think the best loadout for SG includes being led by a Captain for the free stratagem use!

I like the concept of the Eradicators however not being able to get them within Melta range is very unfortunate. All that being said, the moment they start taking casualties their punch fades away unlike any tank shooting from way farther. I wonder where Eradicators stand point per point against Aggressors, particularly against Aggressors with Biologis and the Bolter Discipline combo.

0:50 you are sir, dead wrong You can rapid Ingress storm raven gunship within 10 of enemy, enemy starts shoots in it, you disembark eradicators with 3 of the aircraft shoot at that little enemy and at the end of fight phase embark back and fly away!

I have been playing a squad of 6 in my list since 10th started. Sending 6 of those boys to wreak havoc with a librarian dread can be absolutely brutal.

@ba_commander ive been using them as a target on elite high health infantry or transports/tanks. It supplies a fairly beefy threat that my opponent has to dedicate resources to deal with. All the while being under fire or not dedicating resources effectively to stop me from scoring. I run them with the biologis and have blown up transports on turn one causeing them to lose utility. Its effective. Especially when you consider they are 18 wounds of models on t6 bodies. Surprising how much punishement they can actually take
Theyre really quite good. You can also just use a Librarian Dread to get em in position

I agree with you AND d.t.m. in this case. I think eradicators have some real play, but I think I'd still take a vindicator for the same points cost in most cases. That being said, i have 6 eradicators and no vindicators. I'm too afraid to buy vindicators because i fear they will be in the next wave of firstborn models going to legends.

I take 1 max squad of eradicators, bring them in on board edge and delete a vehicle/monster threat every game and Firestorm makes them S10

They aren’t bad, but they aren’t great. Took them to a tournament. Took a few things down.But against voting they did squat. Against demons I was able to over watch Bel kor and wipe him. Then they died lol to the blood letters. I was running vanguard spear head. Probably a lot better with fire storm.

I ran them with the vanguard spearhead. I brought 6 with 2 multi meltas Captain with the infiltrate enhancement. Biologos. All three games I went second. I infiltrated them just outside my deployment around the middle behind buildings(using layout 4 terrain). Drukkri i managed to pop two of the little boats split firing. The strike from the shadows worked for one of the boats. Other was to close. They got wasted by another boat and then got charged by some small unit and a character. Biologos and captain managed to kill those. Game 2 I fought votann. Did the same thing infiltrated missile behind cover. Teleported them into opponents corner. They missed all but two wound rolls on a land fortress. Then they died to next turn fire. Round three. I did another middle behind cover infiltrate. Belkor moved and charged. I over watched and rolled 4 6s which got me lethal hits. Belkor failed 3 and he got zapped. Then blood letters came in and they died. My biggest issue was wounding. I didn’t take a thunder strike and I regretted it. They really need that. And it wouldn’t hurt to maybe have incurors to give +1 hit. There are to many things that pass around -1 to hit. Hitting on 4-5s is like saying a 7in charge is easy. Like I said they seem to be ok. But they need more support to really be effective.
