As of last friday, the game is out. I've been having the time of my life with it. To me, Wonder feels like a proper sequel to Super Mario World; a true Super Mario Bros. 5. I've been playing the game blind with my cousin over the online mode, and I couldn't be happier. The levels are compact and masterfully crafted, the power ups are incredibly fun, and the wonder flower effects have been surprising us left and right. This is downright one of if not Mario's greatest game to date (Only rivaled by Galaxy 1). If you like Mario to any degree, you owe it to yourself to play Wonder.

I think the most "new" or "wonder" its the gimmicks in every level, it looks like a "New super mario" game but I appreciate the few changes, what I say, the gameplay 👌 but visually or musically lets see.

While I am excited to play this game, I'm certainly not concerned with anybody who doesn't like it because we're all allowed to like what we like and we're all allowed to dislike what we don't like. We play this game like we hate our friends and just try to kill each other which is always a blast. I'll pick it up at some point. It's not going to be a day one purchase.

The new super Mario bros series is not it’s own series, it’s a sub series of a sub series of mario. Saying that the levels feel like they could fit in a new super Mario bros game is be they’re both 2d Mario games. Mario games didn’t go through millennia of evolution. The games will play similarly, but also play differently. like this game could have been new super Mario Bros switch, but it still wouldn’t of felt like the other for new super Mario bros games because of how much more they’ve changed from Wii U to switch then DS to Wii, Wii to 3ds, and 3ds to Wii U

I loved al the 2d mario games all ery much, as it is never got b ored of it. Yet this new one looke like it may be this time truly more innovative and fresh than thte last buinch of them

Yes, I think this does switch up the New Super Mario Bros formula, established on the DS and more so Wii. I think it keeps it fresh enough, though like a lot of these Mario games, I feel like there are gimmicks rather than truly revolutionizing the formula. They look fun, but don't really continue onto new games. The yoshis riding yoshis should stay. The trailer didn't state it, but imagine a stack of four yoshis :)

Hey Chris. I don't love it. I played it a couple times during the first few days after launch and, without beating it, I've already shelved it - I haven't played it in weeks and I have no desire to play it again. I'm happy to hear that it exceeded your expectations, though.

@@RonManGaming I am curious what kind of new 2d Mario game would you like? I'd like Wario and Waluigi to be playable characters or at least be enemies in the game. And bring back the Koopa Kids and not just have Bowser Jr every boss level. Or I don't know...maybe something actually new. But as far as being creative and doing new things while also staying true to the original games, I think they did a great job. It's at the very least a good step in the right direction in my opinion. They could've done more with the wonder flowers. While they all did different things, they were all basically the same thing. Fun but repetitive. Also yeah the flag poles could've been like portals or something cooler.

People expect what Mario should be. Looking back at Mario 2, was it that different? No, but people were thrown by it when it was released. If Nintendo said Sonic was the new Mario (making a game that focuses on using speed to access different paths through a level), people would freak.

I never watch these trailers because the voice over talks to us like we're stupid. I get that its for younger kids, but come on, how much of the audience is really THAT young. Anyway, looking at this game, I do agree that it has a lot of New Super Mario vibes. I feel like its the 3D that causes that along side a bigger emphasis on gimmicks. Personally though, I really enjoyed co-op New Super Mario Bros Wii since playing it 2 player coop wasn't really that hectic and we were both high level Mario players so we worked well together. Which makes me sad that I too am an old man now and would have really appreciated the online mode to have been online coop like the local coop. Like why not have that? Otherwise, game looks fun, but I might not get it right away.

I tend not to watch trailers, especially all the way through. I glance at your vid every now and then in the corner. This game has some fun features. The one thing about TV console New Super Mario Bros games is that they build levels to support four players. I'm sure there's a balance to creating a satisfying single player experience, but it definitely can take away from the single player experience, even if computer controlled friends are offered as a solution. Sonic 2 and Kirby Superstar did this with two players, but the second player was ancillary and had no affect on level design, pretty much making the computer character useless (maybe that is why so may older kids prefer Sonic over Tails :(

People want more Mario. That's it. There are Mario games in other genres (RPG, strategy, etc.), if you want a different Mario-themed experience.

@@geekgo4 Sure, character is a part of the presentation, but there is an experience of 2D Mario and 3D Mario games that people like and of which want more. Nintendo has good polish, compared to smaller devs so their games do more than run and jump and are more satisfying since they pump them full of content and presentation. If Nintendo made a shallow game, people would notice.

Yep.. I think it looks just okay. Not on par with how cool Mario Odyssey was. It just makes me think of a Super Mario Deluxe and stuff. I understand the whole not understanding why getting hate for your opinions. I had people calling me stupid for deciding to sell a bunch of my collection. 3D Mario is trying to accomplish something different than 2D Mario. They are fundamentally different experiences. Remember how many characters failed the transition from 2D to 3D. It's because it's an entirely new form of gaming. Similarly, if Mario had a VR game, it would be a different experience that would rebuild what it means to be Mario in that space.
