I just wanted to point out that you were wrong at 14:56, in forge you CAN have classic spawns in forge, you can place them on the ground and have a respawn timer for it

18:29 I've actually been having the opposite experience recently. I feel like I can't be somewhat critical of the game without getting told off. The other day I was having issues with consistently really bad desync and bugged xp boosts, and a lot of people told me "You should be greatful with what you got" or "Stop blindly hating 343. They're doing their best and game development takes time"

I think Season 3 will be when the game is finally more good than bad; right now imo it's pretty even. I have fun but not for too long; I can earn some nice loot but not too much. Forge is great but overwhelming (not a bad thing like the other points). It's getting better but it can still get better than this too

Honestly I think it's pretty simple: it's a positive set if changes, they were much needed, but I don't think 343 deserves praise for introducing them, and they're still not enough to make me log in.

16:03 the grenade and equipment swapping feels weird on the controller as well. It kinda feels like a mortal combat combo list when I'm using my grenades or equipment on the campaign I miss when you just click the right or left keys on the d-pad and I'm glad I'm not the only one who is bothered with halo infinite equipment and grenade swapping

I see it as a trade off. KBM gets inferior aiming in comparison to the laser auto-aim of controller, but easier equipment swapping in comparison to controller. … though, I still have no idea which key swaps grenades.

Me too man, I’m having fun again with this game, especially because after playing mw2 this has been a nice change of pace to where I’m not sweating constantly each match, hell whenever I want I can play with bots in boot camp which i forgot is pretty good when I just wanna chill and do challenges.

i hope they continue to add polish to the campaign, even expanding it to the point where they wanted to take it with cut content. I'd like to see Hunters reworked and featured more heavily like they should be, but that is a pipe dream of course.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind a couple few more encounters in the campaign, especially more high value targets and other smaller stuff to do. Maybe even thrown in a couple more rewards too, like more weapon variants, that isn't hard to do at all, they just have to tweak an existing weapon (adding more damage/fire rate/magazine size...) and add a new color or skin to it.

Nothing changed for me with the update. I don’t feel like organizing discords and stuff to play custom games and the new maps I never came across once or never even had a playlist to play them. So ya basically feels like same beta I got bored of months ago and went back to other games after couple hours.

"It is what it is" regarding split-screen campaign is an absolute understatement. I appreciate you bringing it up, but its removal, like it was for Halo 5, isn't something the community should ever let go of. Even if the promise to maintain split-screen and including it on the roadmap before its cancelation wasn't a thing, its removal is still a huge frustration. It restricts people who aren't (or aren't able to be) active in online communities, prevents people from being introduced to the franchise, harms its longevity, and defies Halo's core as an inclusive party game. I want to play Halo with those who I'm nearest and closest with. It's how my dad and I bonded. That core identity should not be thrown out.

I think the thing that will change things forever will be the “Campaign Ai” that 343 said they would add to infinite’s forge.

While I'm sure most of us players would agree with that sentiment, unfortunately 343/MS higher ups likely do not. They want their money after all and usually don't care about actually improving the game where it matters.

Agree re: weapon pads/spawners - I've disliked these things since the first time I saw them, they dumb down exploration and the design of environments and rooms because you no longer have to actively search a room for a weapon, you just walk in and see it immediately glowing and sticking out to be picked up. The room goes from being an environment to being a cube with a weapon in it

The fact they are rotating gamemodes and Playlists every week now is a great change. The recommended forge maps list is also update every week which is a good thing as well. I hope that’s dedicated forge maps playlist is put up soon as well.

Removing playlists is not a good thing for the game. People have preferences in the gametypes/playlists they want to play, and if you remove their preferred playlist they don't filter into a different one, they just stop playing completely. You CAN NOT remove team snipers, ffa, doubles, etc and expect a positive outcome for the game. Rotational playlists are literally shooting this game in the foot.

Thanks for mentioning the HUD. A year later and I still don’t see why they changed the layout. Give us an option to use the classic layout please. It was one of the few things in Halo 4 and 5 that nobody complained about.

Your analogy about stopping the bleeding is spot on! I hadn't touched the game since around February or March, just before whenever LSS dropped and the winter update has gotten me back in! Better ping, less desync, better challanges and actuall fun playlists have had me playing a nice 40 minutes or so in the evenings! And I haven't even touched forge or campaign yet. It makes me hopeful that the game will at least get to a servicable standard some day but for now I'm happy that I can at bare minimum have a little fun in swat and rumble pit for my Caboose helmet

I think an area of campaign they need to improve is the save files. Maybe I just didnt understand it, but I accidentally overwrote my old save making a co-op save with my buddy. All the checkpoint overwrote my old saves. I didnt mind it too much, but it is bad and I know people who would not like it.

i'm glad that there is what feels like a full game playlist now. I can switch to a variety of games that are all different. Hoping with all the emphasis on forge we get playlist that features normal death match but also some of the creative modes created by the community.

@16:06 Another issue wit Equipment & Weapons "In Multiplayer" (It's annoying picking up equipment & weapons in game) There should be the option "Hold" to pick up equipment & "Press" to pick up weapon. I find myself juggling weapons & equipment on the floor trying to pick up the right damn thing. there is just to many pick ups littering the floor at one time to get exactly what you want consistently.

What needs to be addressed with Forge that I see no one at all talking about is the removal of all "casual forge" from the mode. So many people have so many memories of forge where they'd just have fun by dropping objects of their friend's heads or chasing them around with kill balls, or flinging them across the map with grids. This is all now completely impossible with Infinite forge. An entire method of play just gone. People always respond with "oh but forge has so many more options now!" but why does that have to come at the cost of this? Those new forge features are fantastic for people who are deep into forge and I'm happy for them but why does their way of play have to come at a cost of the casual, fun forgers way? Do people who used to enjoy this way of forging fun suddenly not matter anymore? I mean hell, Halo 3 had an achievement for dropping a tank on a players head, Reach had that iconic forge artwork showing this exact type of fun chaos. This is all gone now and for those people who enjoyed that this forge does nothing for them.

campaign coop bug ive notices is. during the cutscene that plays into "Pelican down" where you crash. the Host's custscene works perfectly fine. but the clients cutscene seems to get out of sync with audio, video and subtitles. weirdly it only happens on that one mission cutscene.

The 2013 Xbox One is how I've been playing this whole time, and I was playing on the Forge map Hoodlum, which takes up the entire Forge budget and looks BEAUTIFUL. No issues whatsoever. Really all I think happened is that they didn't take enough time to art them and make them look less Forge like

Playing campaign on PC I always felt like combat would be a bit more fun if I could use equipment by just pressing a button rather than pressing a button to select then execute said equipment. I also think thrusters should have been given earlier as they are a joy to use in fights, unlike halo 4 thrusters.

Your visor color should change your in-game UI. For example if I choose a red visor .. Then my shields radar grenades gun type ammo ping and objective notifications should all be that shade of red. If this happend it would make switching your visor actually make a difference in the game. It seems like a pretty easy no-brainer.

I have unfortunately been unable to touch Forge just yet, but from what I've seen it looks fantastic. One piece of feedback that I would give is, why can't I switch Battle Passes? I didn't finish Season 2 and after the Winter Update, it just locked me out of my progression and I couldn't switch back to finish the Pass. If anyone else is having this issue, please let me know, because I don't think I'm the only person. Anyway, (I can't believe I'm saying this but) the devs did a good job. Let's just hope that they can keep sticking the landing from hereon out.

Just to give some info 343 are planning to add banished and even flood objects to forge. May take a bit but it is in the works. As far as pre made structures I think that would be a good addition for quick ideas or for anyone getting into forge for the first time and don't want to build absolutely everything from scratch. I also wish they would add their own forge world type of map or a few different types. Such as one with some snow or one with a jungle/forest type of map. The same reason as the structures is so you can get inspiration from the surroundings and won't have to make it all yourself.

The way you describe the dev made maps is perfect. They definitely feel sterile, and I think that's because of their mentality that "Halo is competitive" so they never do anything creative with levels because of "balancing" for competitive play which is so lame and boring. The forge maps people have made show how much fun Halo is when you get creative with play spaces and not worry so much about how "pro players" will play the level.

This also shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes Halo "competitive". The most competitive maps in the entire franchise are maps like Damnation, Lockout, Prisoner, but all 343 seems capable of making is shitty 3 lanes copied from moba design.

I've not been too critical of 343's new forge maps. Despite not using forge very much yet, I've run into more than a handful of bugs and things not working right across the 10 or 15 hours of forging so far, and I need to remind myself that this is the stable version. They were gonna release forge back in like August but it got pushed back. I'm sure whichever version of forge they had mid-development to create these maps on was even less stable. I think we kinda take it for granted that the devs can release these tools and the fans can do so much, but these maps had to be released ALONGSIDE the tools. The maps had to be created on a version of forge that was months behind what we got. I do hope that 343 will use the public release of forge to improve the maps though, adding lighting and decals and generally prettying things up post-launch!

If it weren't for the fans making forge maps this update wouldn't have been nearly as well received. As someone who's friends no longer play Halo, the forge update means nothing to me. I'm still waiting for a complete MATCHMAKING experience. This is a great update for people who stuck around, but I don't see it bringing anyone back.

Nah, this is absolutely for people who play halo for the social experience, as opposed to competitive or grinding out levels for no reason You don't need friends to play any of the forge maps, and the huge communities of people who came back and are now those giant collectives of players forging and playing customs together speaks volumes about how social this update is. You can meet so many new halo fans again, far better than you ever could in infinites neutered matchmaking experience thatcis missing 70% of actual matchmaking features and does actually nothing but let you... Play? Like, matchmaking used to be this giant collaboration of features that made it an experience with players, now all it does is load you into a game with strangers so you can play for 10 minutes and then disconnect again. Honestly until they fix their online experience, custom games is where its at right now. Aside from literally just fucking around with the sandbox, there is no point to actual matchmaking right now. Wins and losses are pre determined Noone speaks with each other Your performance is pre determined You cant group up You cant make friends You cant really interact with anyone Might as well be bot matches all alone while your internet is disconnected

@@MrMegaMetroid I feel like you just overexplained the point I made. I agree for the dedicated social fans this is good. But for casual fans or fans who don't have time or the desire to seek out these communities it's an irrelevant update. I much prefer being able to go into matchmaking and play the game modes Halos famous for. Organically meeting new people or joining parties in the post game lobby for a custom match or two. I don't want to have Discord or Reddit open and schedule around or ask others to hop online just so I can play a game or two and then bail.

Very positive. The game feels much better now. Things I want now are: Custom Game Browser, Permanent Ranked 2v2 and Ranked 6 Player FFA playlists (keep the rotating ranked playlist too), Career Progression + In Game Service Records, More Desync and Network improvements, Further Cross Core implementation.

Still feeling good but being on xbox does make me wish for the customs browser though. That said I've gotten to get back into forge and the custom maps and new modes have been enough to get my own small circle back into doing games nights with. The new playlists are also nice, all of us dropped off a week into season 2 so we're backed logged on all that content too.

Doing forge and customs has been the absolute highlight of the game (even if customs are still buggy and feel hacked together). Every time I venture back into matchmaking to make progress on that winter battle pass though it feels like the same old "do Live Fire for 17 games in a row until you hate your life" grind again. I do hope we start seeing a lot more forge maps rotating into matchmaking, because damn the base maps are so stale.

Equipment and grenade swap is silly in its current state. There are 4 items to switch to. The most button presses you’d need to switch would be 3 then 2 then 1. On average it’s 2 button presses. If you’re out of 1 type of grenade or haven’t unlocked all the equipment it drops to 1.5 presses.

While this update is a massive step in the right direction, in the end, it's still just one update, and people need to stop saying that it saved the game. It helped, but it isn't saved yet. There is still a lack of features that needs to be added before the game can be considered as "saved." Custom Game browser, Infection, Forge to exit Beta, more maps, weapons, vehicles, and a fully working Machinima Mode(you can enable it in custom game settings, but the features are bugged and you can't lower weapons yet). You should also be allowed to set custom game modes to start with no weapons now that you can use melee without holding one.

Yes, Forge needs basic building block structures. Build a base with simple blocks. So much faster. Lego base pieces and walkways etc.

Dsync is still a really big issue in this game and the lack of social playlist. If they had launched custom browser with forge that would of been very amazing and most likely infinite would of been back on the map. However because of Dsync this game still cannot be played competitively, also the radar needs to be expanded more. There are many times where someone is next to me or directly behind me and they just don't show up on the radar. Many aspects of this game still makes me very angry to even play casually, while forge is a grate addition if the core of the game is still messed up forge isn't going to fix anything.

if you're familiar with AutoHotKey on PC, there's a script for it you can download where you can essentially have all of the abilities in campaign tied to whatever keys you want. it's a workaround for sure but made my campaign play through insanely more fun

I’ve had a lot of fun since the winter update I just have bad servers still, I live in Canada and a good server latency for me is like 60 but I keep finding servers with like 110-150 latency and it really takes a toll on my gameplay because my rank is diamond and I get sweaty lobbies and it’s frustrating when I get shot around walls lol. But 343 is doing a bit better and we are definitely a step in the right direction.

I'm honestly happy that you guys have this winter update, really I am. I'm even impressed with how incredible this forge is never has forge been this great. With that said i'm still not going to support a company that should have had all this in the beginning. They get credit for improving forge sure, but this is going to be a multi year journey until this game has the bare minimum it should've had from the start then i'll consider giving it another shot.

Haven't even played it personally. Buddies and I made plans to do coop but for many reasons haven't yet. So until then I'll just enjoy MW2 and Miles Morales. Haven't touched Infinite since September.

There’s also a few very problematic bugs in Forge (at least on Halo Infinites Steam version) wherein if you try to change from the Monitors to a Spartan, your game will just straight up crash. As well as the mouse icon staying stuck in the screen sometimes and not allowing you to move your monitor mode camera around with a console controller, it’s very strange.

I've been having a network issue that I can't seem to solve. It takes almost 3 times longer to boot up Infinite, same amount of time to actually load the menus, but it takes me almost 2 minutes to get from the end of the match to the post-match score and it says I lost connection to the server. I agree with you on 90% of everything, except the gun placement you spoke about, which is a lot. Personally I think this was a big win and it saved Infinite as well. I actually look forward to content and the weekly rewards.

I may well be misunderstanding what you are meaning but I do believe MCC for PC at the least has open lobbies for friends. If using an Xbox controller you can hit x when at the main screen to pull up a sidebar on the right hand side with your friends that are online and their current activity and if you select one you can choose to invite them view their career and join their lobby.

Another big point is that "Pre-Fab" structures that are made BY the Devs is that they SAVE on SO MUCH Forge Resource usage it isn't funny. 1 "Pre-Fab" structure compared to 10 to 15 items to MAKE a structure gives you so much more room to make it come alive with set pieces and artistic flare.

Halo infinite has felt like it’s been in beta for a whole year and it still does for the most part, the biggest problem is the continuity between the whole game. The forge is great and the gameplay is decent enough but there’s nothing to play for, I just dislike the armour unlock system so much that it taints how I view the whole game. I have redownloaded the game to try but I hope they do something, maybe go all in with the never expire battle pass model and make the mini battle passes the same so there’s always something to unlock + it would give the people like me who just gave up on the game for a year a chance to get some of the things we missed.

With forge it's awesome but super overwhelming for someone like me who hasn't used the mode since Halo 4. Would be nice if they'd included all the pieces from the Reach/Halo 4 era (believe 5 had them too but I skipped that game so idk) so folks like me who've had a hiatus can hop back in, quickly block out our older maps, and play around with the other tools while we wrap our heads around the full feature set. Learn bit by bit rather than what's expected which is being a level designer and level artist at the same time.

Something I've noticed as well, running at higher frame-rates, in multiplayer when I crouch or ADS, the transition animations are still locked at lower framerates, if I'm paying attention to it, it really throws me off sometimes, it's pretty annoying.

This Infinite UI has to change. I feel MCC has the perfect starting point for choosing what you want to play in matchmaking. Give me a check box of all the modes I’m interested in playing and don’t force me to play just fiesta or just rumble pit.

343 likes the pads because they inform new players where weapons are going to respawn at, maybe the Hologram of the weapon respawning can be separated so we can put them anywhere

Overall, I think its a pretty great update. I'm hoping in future, 'New' content goes beyond just maps and cosmetics and starts heading towards new tools for the sandbox, be it weapons, gadgets or vehicles (Falcon pls 343).

Season 3 needs to bring the game to what it should have been at launch, at the very least. I know it's too early to tell, but I believe that this Season 2.5 has improved the game more than hindered it; it can't be just pure dumb luck that this launch also coincides with Bonnie Ross leaving the head of 343.

Player outlines ruin some forge maps. I played an infection map with that kinda glitched infection game mode in the file share and the outlines ruin foggy maps.

You don't need weapon pads/spawners... you can spawn without pads (traditional halo-style).

To me: Halo Infinite is an early access game, and still is. Give it another year, MAYBE it'll be on the same level as the other halo games when they released.

Infinite is slowly getting to the point it should have been at when it launched. In time it may even get better. I'll be eager to see how 343 builds upon this rare W they got. Time will tell if they deserve it.
