@MrZen089 ай бұрын
Not only that, but PRO do their own videos as well, they just get less hits than these do. They'll also call out calls they disagree with, and additionally you get to hear the actual conversations between the booth and the ref, while viewing the angles they're looking at. They've been doing it since the VAR days, and they're continuing still, even with the replacement refs. Search it-
@CLBCrew969 ай бұрын
Idk how you have VAR and not even check that PK call on Yeboah in the Crew game. It was obvious. The ref didn’t even hold up play after the ball went out to discuss it. There was also a handball in the box on Minnesota near the end of the game. Wasn’t checked either. That costed the crew 2 pts.
@MrCho149 ай бұрын
The ref would never hold up play to review unless VAR told them to.
@CLBCrew969 ай бұрын
@@MrCho14 VAR should have told him to hold up the play. But the ref can hold up the play if he believes he may not have made the right decision. If the other team tries to put the ball back into play quickly, the official can hold up the play to double-check. VAR can't make a decision within 2 seconds most of the time. So the official can stop play for a second to check with Var. Either way, they made the wrong decision.
@MrCho149 ай бұрын
@@CLBCrew96 Sorry, but that's a complete misunderstanding of how the process works. The referee doesn't ever ask VAR to look at something. VAR looks at every play live and does their own review while play is going on. This is part of the reason there are multiple people in the booth so that they can have eyes on the live play while also reviewing a recent incident.

6:30 looks violent, but if you get tackled from behind and are knocked down, then realize another person is falling on you and/or about to step on you, putting your hands and legs up to protect yourself is just a gut reaction. I think the falling player definitely put a little extra in his feet, but he should be able to protect himself as an attacker that just laid a dangerous tackle is now falling on top of him. The "kick out" in this case could be seen as him simply creating a barrier between him and the dangerous falling player.

I certainly see your point, and I don't totally disagree, but it is still seriously dangerous, ESPECIALLY with cleats. It's a similar case to the Yappi call right after in the vid: "just because your intent is good, doesn't mean that your actions are."
@lukeharper89269 ай бұрын
For me, it looks like he's doing a bit more than just protecting himself though. It looks like his leg is moving upward toward the opposing player rather than just shielding himself. I don't feel strongly about it - if I was the VAR, I don't know that I would have recommended a review... but that's how I see it.

RE: Philly throw-in: First, throw-ins/goal kicks/corners are incorrectly given/not given all the time (one study showed around 30% of the time). And because play was stopped and restarted again, of course it's not reviewable. Also, I can't believe that you didn't discuss the handball called against Diego Chara as he tried to do the AR's job. Not because controversial - because stupid.
@MrCho149 ай бұрын
The non-reviewable really isn't about stop and start of play. It's simply not an allowable incident per VAR regulations. I'll also say on the throw-in that I'm quite surprised the SKC players stood there looking around when the ball went out instead of either going to pick it up or at least raising their hands like happens on 75% of all balls that go into touch.

I have to say, even though I may be a Dallas fan, I heavily disagree with your analysis of the Musa goal. The camera angle shown is very good and shows him arguably onside from this angle alone, but it can easily be understood that if the camera was slightly moved to actually be a straight on view with the back of the defender, that would move Kamungo even more onside based on the more direct angle. It's really just simple geometry/common sense and I am happy to see a replay official that decides to use a little common sense rather than fall back to an excuse of "not having a straight enough angle." Until MLS get's offside & goal line technology (at a minimum), I think officials should default to awarding goals in tight offside situations.

Disagree on the NE-Toronto call, Wiebe. We can't let attackers be completely untouchable in the box. The guy won the ball, he got there first, and then stepped on the attacker in some incidental contact as part of winning the ball. Therefore, he has a right to that space. No penalty. We already give pens for wayyyy too cheap of fouls these days, and it's even worse when it had nothing to do with a scoring opportunity (see Chicago - Cincy, which was the right call but a total gift that Chicago gets a free goal for that).

As he pointed out Esmir tapped the ball back to cut around then the defender stomped on his foot. Defender didn't win the ball and you can't stomp on players feet when they're trying to dribble. It's simple as that.
