Čiurlionis (1875 -1911) is an incredible artist, Kandinsky (1866-1944) and Hilma af Klint (1862-1944) too. But the truth is there is much more earlier abstract painter - Georgiana Houghton (1814-1884) that created totally abstract works about 50 years before anyone from the above.

Very interesting video of an artist unknown for me. As a swede I still consider Hilma af Klint as the first abstract artist from a strict point of view.
