I graduated in December 2019 with my post-master’s FNP degree. I didn’t take boards until June 2020 because of the pandemic. Most of the job offers were trash. These companies want to over work you for very little pay. I finally accepted a NP position in January 2021 doing COVID testing for a retail pharmacy. They were paying $46/hr, but I decided not to renew my contract after working there 8 months. They wanted to convert my job position to RN and lower the pay since they were phasing out the NP role for COVID testing. I am in the process of opening a body contouring studio and I will be doing real estate also. Being an employee is a scam. Don’t waste your talent and potential working for a company when you can build your own company.

I’m a FNP working as a Pediatric Nephrology NP. I work for the university system but I am 100% clinical practice . I am paid a little over 6 figures as a new grad but I think it’s truly a blessing in disguise because sadly lots of new NP’s aren’t making enough. 😩 I love my job and I would do it all over again even if my student loans were doubled !!

That bad side of going to college that noone tells us at all. The some job need to go to school to get the main idea and sub idea of the job. BUT THE STUDENT LOAN IS KILLS THE STUDENTS NOW. Even they have a good job with 6 to 9 figures, they have to pay x number of years to pay it off.

I HATE how NP programs are set up. it's an absolute scam that NPs have to find their own clinicals while PAs and MDs have theirs selected for them, thus ensuring good quality education for them. I'm in NP school now and feel lucky with my first rotation in family medicine. also just a tip for FNPs to be, there are universities that cost less. I go to one in the Houston medical center and am getting my master's for 15K. do your research before you commit!

Hi, Ms. Fatima. I usually don't comment on the videos that are geared more towards the nurses because I'm not in that field and don't have any professional interest in it, but I watch you because I think that you're an awesome entrepreneur who has incorporated your skills and natural abilities into businesses which work for you and you have done so flawlessly. So whether or not a person is in the medical field, your inspiration has surpassed only those who want a career in nursing. You've managed to inspire people of ANY field to have the courage to do what they love.💕

As a NP, the higher the pay, the more bulls*** they want you to put up with. One job was paying pretty good, but they wanted an unqualified person to be my supervisor. Basically a MA. And just a heads up-avoid working where a "couple" runs the practice, i.e. wife is the MD and husband is office manager or vice versa. Just my experience

I really can’t see myself in a hospital or clinical setting either. I love skin analysis and how the body can absorb so much. The human body is an amazing thing. I like that I have options in the medical field. I want to further my career, I don’t want to be just an esthetician I want to further my career as an DNP and get into the depth of it from the medical side of it.

Fatima thanks for sharing ! 💕 OG here 💗 you were one of the few that inspired me to get into nursing in the first place. I have a couple of friends that are NPs and feel overworked and underpaid but are telling me I should go back to school. Currently working in Derm & though I haven’t felt any pressure ( yet) as an Lpn , I know I want WAY more for myself even though I’m getting by pretty fine as a clinical lead. NP would definitely be my end goal. & I had to LOL at the insurance company run around I deal with that on the daily and it’s ridiculous from the hold times to literally having patients waiting for a pre auth approval just to get denied ; or having to schedule peer to peers for a biologic we know tried and true it works but because the insurance companies don’t want to pay or rather use their “ specialty drug” that dsnt work - they would rather have the patient suffer. It’s unbelievable lol🤦🏻‍♀️. But thanks again for sharing girl. I love your journey💗💗💗

Great video! As an PMHNP in private practice I love my role. I always break it down to how much I need to make in an hour to meet my financial goals. This helps one determine whether they need to set a goal of seeing 6 patients a day vs the 20 other NPs are seeing working for someone else. I can relate to your statement about the insurance company dictating care, but in the in for me working on the frontlines of mental health is worth it. Thanks for making your videos. It will continue to help other nurses have a better idea of what they are really getting themselves into. In my opinion, being a nurse entrepreneur is the ONLY way to go.

I obtained my BSN to DNP with family practice focus from a state University. The hospital I worked as a nurse actually paid all my tuition fees. And the same hospital hired me as a nurse practitioner in advanced heart failure. We also cover heart transplant and VAD patients. We are scheduled to see patients inpatient and outpatient settings. We also supervise stress testings. We also participate in research studies. It’s a great job with great salary. Unfortunately, I don’t see any more opportunities for further growth in this position. I am also very passionate about to be a nurse entrepreneur and learning about it further at this time.

Hi Fatima! I'm one of those OGs! Congrats on your new business! Yes, I feel the same. I started at Simmons too and moved on to another university but i too felt I was not knowledgable or confident enough when I graduated. Moving away from the bedside as an RN, however, has been so liberating. Being an NP does open many more doors for nurse entrepreneurs, even if it's not in the health care field. I was even thinking of starting a hot shot business with my husband, lol. It's good to see how you've grown into yourself and your career. I know a lot of medical professionals who work a few years in the healthcare industry, get burnt out and go into business. You don't owe anyone anything for choosing your path, you sound happy and successful in what you are doing, and that's enough. I hope I will find the same once we come back to the U.S.

Also, side note, I ended up going to your Alma matter for NP school (knew co-workers who went there & recommended it), and I had the opposite experience thankfully. I also found my clinical sites and that is where all the learning happens, so it was a blessing in disguise. I don't think anyone feels ready when they graduate, but thankfully I felt competent enough. I hope in the future, NP schools will be better about helping students find quality clinical sites.
@ingert1441
@ingert1441 3 жыл бұрын
So true, a good clinical site makes a difference. That is the biggest challenge. I attended an FNP program at a state university, and I remember telling my school that I was not getting sufficient hands-on at my clinical site {an internal medicine office} but their response was that they try very hard to get these sites. In other words "suck it up!" I really felt short-changed. It has been one year since I graduated and got my board certification and much of my apprehension is due to that. I am still in the market for a job and I wonder if that is why I am not as aggressive in getting a job.

I work in the spa field already but trying to find the best avenue to go about in order to open my business is hard. Some states don't allow you to hire healthcare providers if your not one yourself 😔 so thats my dilemma. But I think I need to just bite the bullet and go back to school so I can have more ownership over the spa.
