On point.I agree with question that some clinical instructors may try to fail you. I had an experience, tried to fight but no one was listening, It’s very hard to fight them. So avoid it at all cost, it’s an uphill battle. If you find yourself in that triangle , be the first to report them always, and you have to be on your A game always.

Another great video Lauri, I had to lol several times, I would add passive aggressive to the list. Before any form of nursing training: find a favorite form of alcohol! Definitely look at the job market to ensure you can get a job once finished. It is a huge challenge! I would consider internships also (especially with Mrs. Lauri) About independent practice: I am foreseeing your move here and hiring me! I enjoy learning from you. Do you have a notebook for wound care?
@fromcnatonp3 жыл бұрын
Hahahaha! you see me in independent practice? well that is why I said never say never, but not now. Internship yes and alcohol is a MUST! after every exam in NP program a group of us would go out for drinks, we had to. Thanks for watching

I wouldn't advise anyone with a family and responsibility to do an accelerated program. I've seen people have nervous or mental breakdowns in np/dnp school. Even seen some have stroke/mi from the stresses of life coupled with an accelerated program. If u r single, unmarried, childless and have the time to commit; then go for it. But those programs are not a walk in the park
@fromcnatonp3 жыл бұрын
Yes, those program are very fast paste and a lot of work! But stroke/mi wow! that is crazy. I have two friends who did this type of program and yes they were free, single and no children. Personally I don't think I could do it, I went to NP school with a child was 2 at the time and if my husband was not hands on and very supportive I would not have made it.

Not true at all my best friend has a family and was able to get through the accelerated program. You just have to be disciplined.

How many hours would you suggest working? Have been offered a grad assistance job and just calculating if I would still keep my current job at reduced hours?

Great discussion on the job hunt! Hiring NPs is one of my roles and it takes time. Once you find someone the credentialing process can be agony. Thanks for all you do! #SimTribe

I'm changing my career and am interested in FNP. I love all of your videos!!! I found them inspiring and very very helpful. Does FNP ever have a 12-hr or 24-hr shift, night shift, or on-call? Are you able to choose to work traditional hours, like 9-5?
@deniseharris83813 жыл бұрын
It really depends on where you work. Most FNPs are in the community setting like a clinic working 8 or 10 hours shifts. The 12 hours shift are often in the acute care hospital setting.

How do you feel about not getting accepted in nursing school ? What should you do if you don’t? I’m scared wondering if I don’t make the cut? I’m still taking my prerequisites 😩
@fromcnatonp3 жыл бұрын
I actually was not accepted the second time I applied I got in the first but then couldn't start, If you don't get accepted try again if this is what you really want. Try applying to more than one program if you can. Continue to do your best in your pre req. All the best to you!

Is msn fizzling out I heard in a couple of years I will need to get my dnp to become a nurse practitioner and I’m starting nursing school in August and after I graduate and gain a couple of years of experience and go for my msn
@fromcnatonp3 жыл бұрын
I have been told that since 2014, so it might be in the future. I do think I was told if we already have a MSN we are grandfathered in and don't necessarily have to obtain a DNP but maybe if you are worried I would research further and make best decision moving forward. Good luck.

Can someone with a biology degree become a NP without going to nursing school first?
@fromcnatonp3 жыл бұрын
No! you have to be a nurse first and then go to NP school. You can apply for PA school since you already have a bachelors degree, you would just need to look up what the exact requirements are like how many patient care hours you need etc.

A DNP is a Doctor of Nursing Practice, not a Nurse Practitioner. DNP is a degree. NP is a role. One can be an NP and have a DNP, but having a DNP does not make one a NP. Thank you for the great information, otherwise. 🙂
