Definitely worth celebrating when a new core range gets BETTER! Glenmorangie is on a roll right now, as far as I'm concerned.

Great review! It’s funny you mention the oak in this one. I found the 14 Port is the same. But in that case I wasn’t even decent. My theory is that their casks aren’t delivering what they used to in the shorter maturation so they leave it longer, which obviously turns up the wood notes. Just my opinion. Cheers!

I had the older bottle once. It didn’t gave me a headache like this video did but I did enjoy this video more than the whisky.

Looks interesting! Will see if I can find a dram of this while I'm traveling. The flavors all seem great, but too much oak might indeed be a turn-off. Great review!

Great Review Geoff. Glenmo got me started on my whisky journey so I'll definitely be looking to add all of the new core range to my collection, including this one. I am definitely not a fan of the new bottle design, I find it somewhat awkward and prefer the older styling, but, it's all about the juice in the bottle! Thanks again. Slainte!

Thanks for a great review once again! I totally agree that this whisky changes very much over time, but I personally have started to like it more than I did initially. For me it has turned from good to great, so I must be one of those who like oakiness. BTW, is that a pop filter on the lower right corner of the screen😂

I found the new Nectar d’Or 16yo a bit weird (possibly the fermented aspect that you mention) until I got it down to shoulder level and then I let it oxidize for a few weeks. At that point I really started liking it.

They should change colour for this one. 18 looks quite similar? Good price for a 16 year old one 😊 thanks for the review

Had my eyes on this one! Glad you reviewed it, it sounds great (I’ll keep the oakiness in mind) - I liked the nectar d’or but wasn’t blown away too but this is only a bit more expensive than the NAS so it sounds very good to me so far, cheers!

Great review! I found the older Nector D'or too sweet. I hadn't given this one too much thought based on that older bottle but I really do enjoy Glenmorangie. This sounds different especially with that oaky quality which was not there at all in the previous versions. It's around $100 usd in my area which is the same price the old one was. The new 12 year original is $48 up from $40 where the 10 year was so it's in line their other pricing.

Hello Geoff, The Last Time i tried this one was a few Years ago when it had a 12yo AgeStatement on. I felt in love with it right away but they made it a NAS and my Love was gone 😅. I'm pretty curious about trying it again with that 16yo on it. Thanks for your Thoughts and Opinion about this Bottling. Greets from Germany 😎🤘

I'll keep an eye out for this one. I recently noticed the D'OR price has dropped significantly in price and currently represents excellent value ( in Aus) , it's a nice drop.

I was fortunate to win a wine raffle with a nearly 40-yr old Monbazillac. It was probably past its best, but a really great experience for a non-wine guy! I can see how it would augment this whisky for sure.

Nice review. I'm quite fond of Glenmorangie in general, I've tried quite a few over the last 20 years, so I'm looking forward to try this one, but I have no idea when it will be released here in Sweden or what the price will be. The Nectar d'Or is sek809 (€69, $75) in todays currency, so I expect it will be a bit more expensive.
@paulm7492 ай бұрын
This sounds nice. I very much liked the 12yo Nectar d'Or, but the NAS version was a big step down in flavor and quality, IMHO. A suggestion to anyone who finds this too oaky or intense: try adding a bit of the standard 10yo (now 12yo) to a pour. I have found that the different Glenmorangie expressions play well together like that. Conversely, if you find the standard too bland, add just 4 or 5 drops of your favorite peated Islay whisky to a pour and you might be surprised how much it wakes up.
@jackhammer84392 ай бұрын
Huh well perhaps I might give it a try. Wasn’t a fan of the old version, but open to the revamp!
@ffll84272 ай бұрын
It's crazy that they actually did that. What a bunch of madlads. I had both versions of the Nectar, 12yo and NAS. The 12yo wasn't to my personal taste, but it was a well made whisky. The NAS really was lackluster, very disappointhing whisky, so I considered them being just as bad as all the other distilleries making their core range worse. This is a welcome surprise for sure.

Did you mean fermented or “stewed” fruits? If the taste is denser chances are that’s what it is. Fermented carries a more sour, tangy taste

I think the old Nectar d’Or was a bit too sweet. I never Sauternes wine tough, so I don’t know how much influence was there because Glenmorangie destillate tends to be sweet but a kind of sweetness I’m not much of a fan tough.

This one hasn't arrived down here yet. I had the 10-year-old back near the start of my whisky journey and it was good at the time, but I wouldn't repurchase it. I currently have the Quinta Ruban 14 which is quite good, but I wouldn't repurchase this one either. I paid $100NZD for the Quinta Ruban and there are better whiskies out there around the same price. Cheers!

Had their 12 year old version and was not impressed. Like the Quinta Rubin but just couldn’t connect with this one. The flavor profile just wasn’t for me I guess.

Not much of an oak guy either. Bold and spicy is my go too. Many scotches fall short on those flavors. Pear and sweet apple flavors aren’t bad but I’d rather have higher proof and bold flavors. Hence why I’m more of a bourbon drinker. Enjoy!!
