Percy was not kind hearted. He was an ambitious young man who placed the desire for fame/money over being a decent human being. Percy knew that his family had a bad reputation because they didn’t care about wizarding pure blood nonsense. He wanted to become more powerful so he did everything that he could to show that he was nothing like his family because he thought that that would bring him what he wanted. He had no real love for anyone around him, he just used people to get ahead or what he needed/wanted. He was a lot like Dumbledore just without the “redeeming qualities” ascribed to Dumbledore.

Interesting theory but my understanding is that the whole point of Percy's character arc is to show a rather good person who willingly made the wrong choices for bad reasons (choosing easy over right as I think Dumbledore states at the end of GoF). Based on this, I don't think that Percy was under the imperius curse.

I don't think Ron entirely trusts Percy. Ron is all about loyalty. He feels that Percy would chuck any one of his siblings under the bus for the change in their pockets. In this case, the change in their pockets is kudos from the MoM. Ron sees him as a power-hungry bean-counter and more about money than people. Making him clean the whole hotel room because he lost his badge would have left a dent, I think that would be hard to smooth over. It's an overreach, an authority grab.

I'd certainly suspected it was the case... or that perhaps jkr knew my 'bean counter' (parent's sibling) family member that would easily chuck someone under the bus for the change in their pockets and not give it another thought... has short arms and deep pockets when it comes to helping others in need... I do swing between the 2 percys. But mostly, he reminds me of my friends and I with his particular 'nerd personality' black and white thinking, (we follow rules or people die philosophy in life) and comes off as slightly autistic... didn’t he get 12 OWLs? Scanbers was his rat before it was Ron's, so worktable knew exactly what buttons to press when he buggered off to rent a flat in London. You're right he does seem to care about his family until mid book 4. Making ginny take pepper-up potion in CoS as he thinks she's got a cold. He's the overlooked older middle kid. 2 big brothers did not have long being the baby till twins came along, does not really fit anywhere among his siblings. I think he feels tit more than Ron, who also had a lot of middle kid issues too.

I would think they wouldn't try and have Percy break up with his family because he be a mole for them to get information if he was working for Voldemort. Either it was a point where Percy had a moment of high emotions commented with the commands made him do it or it was deliberate. Because I doubt they would try in break off a family that was notably under dumbledore's command.

What is this Ron in a cave thing in goblet of fire? I just listened to it and do not remember that part.

Percy was not under the imperious curse. Before the Battle Of Hogwarts he told his family he was wrong and he apologized to his family.

You know it's funny I just brought this same thing up with another you tuber that I thought it seemed like Percy to could be under an imperious curse since there was so much ambiguity in respect to Harry and Dumbledore within the ministry! And here you or talking about it the next day! I however thought it was from fudge to get his support on the appointment of umbridge! Because he thought she was such a good person! Thank you for furthering my belief he couldn't have been under an imperious curse. I don't usually dive that deep into a movie but after hearing someone talking about how Percy was swayed by umbridge I began to think of the way things where going in the ministry and it made sense to me thank you for confirming that I was. On the right track but focused on the wrong individual?

Percy would not have listened to. He chose not to believe his family. Many people did not need to be put under the Imperius curse. Percy was one of those.

From listening to this video it doesn’t sound like the narrator supports the theory of Percy being under the Imperious Curse

Sorry man, but I have to disagree. Percy wrote a letter to Ron advising him to keep his distance from Harry, because Percy believes the Ministry's smear campaign against Dumbledore & by extension Harry, too.

Also, Percy was ambitious and wanted to progress in his job at the Ministry and believes the Ministry opinions on Harry and Dumbledore are likely to aid his advancement!!

Percy is your average pompous government bootlicker. he acted the way he did, because he believed that one must always unquestioningly follow the highest authority figure. (basic british stuff) he was the Wormtail of the Weasley family (sticks to authority figures to get by, always looking for a shoe to kiss, and a boot for his neck) Fred and george were the james and sirius (good natured troublemakers) Bill seems to be the remus of the family (calm, levelheaded, and a werewolf)
