The Romanov Royal Martyrs

Күн бұрын

The mysterious story of the best-known impostor who claimed to be Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov. In 1920, Anderson was institutionalized in a mental hospital after a suicide attempt in Berlin. At first, she went by the name “Miss Unknown”, as she refused to reveal her identity. Later, she used the name Tschaikovsky and then Anderson. In March 1922, claims that Anderson was a Russian grand duchess first received public attention.

They proved she was not Anastasia. Truth comes out that Anastasia was not even the one who was missing with Alexei. It was Maria. Maria and Alexei were buried separately. I don't understand that, but I don't understand why the women had to be killed at all. History is sometimes just unexplained.

@@fariborzemohammadpoor5789 When I refer to they, I am, I think, talking about some part of the Russian government who finally decided to do dna tests on the bones of the bodies found in the grave pit. I do not have proof, but I think the government, over there, wanted to finally silence the hopeful musings of the world. Knowing that all of them died in 1918, sort of, effectively squashes hopeful ideas in the people.

The logic was the royal family had to be murdered to allow no legitimacy for the anti-communists in Soviet Russia any means of propping up any "true" leadership of the nation. Mind you, the Tsar and his family had ruled Russia for hundreds of years up to the Bolshevik Revolution. Even their brutal murder was due to a mistaken idea that a Czech liberation army apporaching the property they were imprisoned in Siberia was looking to liberate them when they were actually nearby to protect the Trans-Siberian Railway. It was a disgusting and brutal murder of an innocent family and their loyal servants in a basement room, but there was no surviving family member who magically escaped their fate and managed to make it all the way to Germany.

By the way... how come this is a discussion at all. It was just a couple of years from she was suppose to have been killed and when she showed up. How can they not recognize her? Like if i was gone for two, three years and then people who knew me or anyone actually would not see its me? How is this possible? Of course it was her, I think it was made a deal after all, to spare the children, but they was to live anonymous, new identities, no one was to know. It was political, a deal made. Lots of deals have been done and we the people are the last to get to know about it, most often never. So nothing new under the sun. This tsar story is on shaky ground.

I don't think he took advantage of her. More like she was lucky he rescued her and took her to the US. He was a historian and probably found her fascinating and believed her. As we now know she was a fraud and as we see on some the footage above she was a rude, unclassy woman with no manners. She probably gave him a hard time all the time so he seemed like he lost his temper with her. I don't know if there was age gap between them but she seemed a lot older than him too, maybe that's why he seemed to tell her what to do as people sometimes do with elderly as they become more and more like children. Sure, it didn't look very right to do it in front of cameras but I think she didn't have nice personality anyway.

It's amazing that an imposter knew details about the Romanov's lives that were not public knowledge. For example, the family had a palace guard who have been with them for so long that he felt comfortable being casual around them, and would often stand with his hands in his pockets. When Anderson was asked if she remembered a guard who was "laid back", she replied, "The man with the pockets!" Even some who knew her as a child swore that Anderson was Anastasia, but DNA testing proved that to be incorrect.

There was a German-language film released in 1956, "Anastasia, the czar's last daughter." Starring Lili Palmer, it is an excellent study of the story of Anna Anderson. Sad to say, this film was almost totally ignored internationally, as the American-financed film "Anastasia," with Ingrid Bergman, was released the same year. The German film may still be available for viewing, and it is well-worth the effort to scout it out.

My mother told me that the story was real, so I investigated, my 12 yo got destroyed after knowing the truth behind Anastasia, and I hoped at that time that Anna was her, but knew very well she was not Anastasia, they were not alike, their faces's features were so different. And I laugh so hard everytime I see the video where 4 women proclaim to be the grand duchesses and, I mean, their faces, hahaha. Anyway, they had an horrible ending, if we like or not.

@@arthurcals1084 Crowned on May 26, 1894, Nicholas was neither trained nor inclined to rule, which did not help the autocracy he sought to preserve in an era desperate for change. The disastrous outcome of the Russo-Japanese War led to the Russian Revolution of 1905, which the czar diffused only after signing a manifesto promising representative government and basic civil liberties in Russia. However, Nicholas soon retracted most of these concessions, and the Bolsheviks and other revolutionary groups won wide support. In 1914, Nicholas led his country into another costly war, and discontent in Russia grew as food became scarce, soldiers became war-weary, and devastating defeats on the eastern front demonstrated the czar’s ineffectual leadership. In March 1917, the army garrison at Petrograd joined striking workers in demanding socialist reforms, and Czar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate. Nicholas and his family were first held at the Czarskoye Selo palace, then in the Yekaterinburg palace near Tobolsk. In July 1918, the advance of counterrevolutionary forces caused the Yekaterinburg Soviet forces to fear that Nicholas might be rescued. After a secret meeting, a death sentence was passed on the imperial family, and Nicholas, his wife, his children, and several of their servants were gunned down on the night of July 16. They were victim's of political suppression. Russia put Stalin in charge after that who was a mass murderer, his murderous campaigns ensured the death's of million's of Russian's. You can also see it in the way she's spoken, there's no softness in it...there's no elegance, class and grace in her movements...and I believe if she's the real Anastasia, she would never had forgotten her manners from long time ago...and why didn't she take the family picture from her husband so that she herself could tell who were in the picture...oh well🙄

The true Anastasia rests now with her Papa, Mama and dear brother and sisters at Peter and Paul in Sankt Peterburg. Anna Anderson was NOT Anastasia! This has been confirmed numerous times by the people who really knew Anastasia, DNA tests, and by people involved at Yekaterinburg. People who did NOT accept Anna as Anastasia; -Her uncle, Grand Duke Ernest Louis of Hesse, who really knew his niece, the father of OTMA’s ‘favourite’ cousin, Princess Elisabeth (he confirmed her true identity as Franziska) -Her grandmother, Empress Maria Feodorovna, whom Anastasia grew up seeing a lot of, and was close to, like the rest of her siblings -Pierre Gilliard, her French teacher, who accompanied the Romanovs on their holidays to Crimea, and eventually to exile in Tobolsk. His wife Alexandra, who was OTMA’s nursemaid, did not accept Anna as Anastasia, but grew quite fond of Anna. -Her aunt, Princess Irene of Hesse, who Anastasia saw often in her early childhood when Alix would reunite with her siblings on holidays -Anna Vyrubova, her mother’s close friend and lady-in-waiting, who never met Anna because of her relationship with Rasputin, but declared she could not be Anastasia -Louis Mountbatten, Anastasia’s cousin who was in love with Maria, and saw Anastasia on family holidays, and when the Romanovs visited England in 1909 Anastasia’s death was accounted for in Yurovsky’s events on what happened on the 17th of July, 1918, and he insisted that not one of the Romanovs survived. He gave the horrific details of what Anastasia suffered. He buried her with her parents, her sisters Olga and Tatiana, and their servants. Alexei and Maria were buried elsewhere. Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh, gave a sample of his DNA to be used to identify the Romanovs upon the discovery of their bodies in Siberia. He was the son of Anastasia’s first cousin, Princess Alice of Battenberg. This DNA confirms Anastasia died with her family in the early hours of July 17th 1918. Furthermore, Anna’s story would not match up to the possibility of Anastasia’s survival. Had she survived, Anastasia would’ve been badly injured, and not in good condition. A girl with stab wounds and potential gunshot wounds would have raised some eyebrows in early Soviet Russia. She probably would not have gotten sufficient medical attention near Yekaterinburg, and certainly would not have travelled across Europe into Germany safely.

This antidote concerning Baroness Sophie de Buxhoeveden is interesting. She of course was almost constantly in the girl's company from 1913 until the family left for Siberia in August of '18. (She was too ill to go with them at that time , but eventually caught up with them later) She was asked to see AA and give an opinion on the matter. I forget which book this is from but here is a part of the story and "Isa's" reaction . You can see she wished it was somehow so....who would not? And too the hopeless hope tormented her as well . "However skeptical, the baroness, who was in Brussels, came to us in Paris so the interview took place in our home at the date given. As the moment drew near for this person to appear the baroness became greatly agitated. Was it possible? Could such a thing be possible? Her emotion was pitiful. At last a taxi stopped before our door. A small foot in a high-heeled slipper descended. The baroness sighed. “That is not my Grand-Duchess,’’ she murmured sadly. It seems that Anastasia had rather large feet and could never have worn small shoes with high heels." Indeed

The IF was suspicious of her because they thought she might have told the bolshevics where they his their jewels. Also, there was evidence that she did do that because she wasn't shot like two of the other ladies-in-waiting. Anastasia and AA both had the same foot condition, which makes it suspicious that AN would have had tiny feet. Also, as AA had a child and was several years older than when seen by her, I would think her feet would have gotten bigger. I didn't wear the same in high school by time I was in my 20's

@@sport1girl The Baroness wasn't shot because she did not go with the family to the Urals as did the other ladies in waiting. Indeed she was only allowed to wave to them from across the street in Siberia. It was those who traveled with the family to Yekaterinburg that were shot. Alix 's sister, Victoria saw to it the Baroness got a Grace and Favor apt in later life. I believe that shows a sense of appreciation rather than a lack of trust. AN feet were huge and the size or so we gain as we age can't make of the difference between AN and AA. Also ; DNA. Everyone would like it to be true.

The doctor's in one of the asylum's claimed she had given birth at some point, although I'm not sure how anyone could be 100% sure . Stretch marks? Franzizka's family denied she'd ever had a child, but I'm not sure their word was reliable. In those times, childbirth outside marriage was a huge stigma - regardless of how the child was conceived. Ironically, this was one of many reasons AA's claim to being the Grand Duchess appeared legitimate to some - it was a highly unlikely lie. Notice the man who says she never cooperated with her own lawyers or supporters. There's a lot of evidence to suggest she really hated pretending to be Anastasia. Most of the people around her wanted her to be the Grand Duchess, and at a certain point, it became her meal ticket.

There are many things to doubt her. Here are few warning signs that actually contradict her claims: 1: She can speak German, but no Russian and a little bit of English. I don’t know if Anna Anderson spoke French. The real Anastasia could speak English, French, Russian and a little bit of German (but not good). 2: can’t tell which sister is which from the 1906 portrait. And her husband/minion could tell that the calendar was from 1913, but not when the formal photo shoot was taken. Also he mixed her sisters up. Has the height completely wrong from the calendar that has the 1906 formal portraits. Tatiana was taller than Olga between 1911 and 1912 and Maria was taller than Olga around 1916. 3. Facial features. Anna has a bigger nose, shape of eyes and lips and a different shape of face. 4. Her demeanor and personality. The real Anastasia was kind however mischievous which can come over as wild and rough but that she was as a child and she grew up with royal etiquette. She wouldn’t be this terribly rude and mean. 5. She could easily convince people. Loved ones couldn’t think straight of the one they loved thought to be lost is suddenly there. Or haven’t seen Anastasia since when they were both children or it’s been a while when they last seen them, like her cousins and friends. Nina Georgievna didn’t believe Anna Anderson but her sister Xenia did (they saw her last when Anastasia and Nina were 12 and Xenia was 10). If you want to know how she did it, it’s something like this: “ remember this (or when this) secret I told you” or “remember this or that” or “this is what you or I did”. It’s trying to convince people and playing on their emotions. If there is one or multiple similarities with that other person have in common, whenever it’s physical or a personality trait. People will be more willing to believe you even if it’s not true. Some people actually believe that actors/actresses are actually like the characters that they play. Franziska Schanzkowska was a mentally ill woman. She already lost herself when a grenade shell landed on her head in WWI. She eventually believed in her own lies and benefits from it. She was Anastasia Romanov in her own mind and convinced others by her entitled, passive aggressive “no one can proof who they are” and “if you/they don’t believe me, I’ll spit on you/them” behavior.

Grand Duke Andrei Vladimirovich, the Tsar's first cousin, was charged with investigating the identity claims of Anna Anderson on behalf of the Romanov family. In 1928, the Grand Duke stated in a recovered letter to Grand Duchess Olga (the Tsar's sister)..."I spent two days with her in Paris. I observed her closely and attentively, and to the best of my conscience I must acknowledge that Anna Anderson is None Other Than my niece Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna. I recognized her at once and further observations only confirmed my first impression. I am in No Doubt that she IS Anastasia!"

I didn't believe for a second that Mrs Anderson is Anastasia from the beginning. Her lips are treading her that she is not Anastasia. And the fact that she hardly looked at her family's portrait when her husband showed it to her ,says a lot.

For me, it is sure that she was not Anastasia. 1: the Romanov family was murdered in 1918. Anna Anderson try to end her life in 1920. Anastasia features couldn't have changed that much. Her facial structures, her nose and her mouth are nothing alike Anna's. It is easy to see the differences thanks to the photographs of 1918. 2: when she was at the hospital, Anna's roommate identified her first as Tatiana. And she ended saying that she was Tatiana. Later she changed saying that she was Anastasia. 3: Anastasia knew russian, english, french and german langages. Like a lot of royals, she had a french tutor, so she was fluent in french. She spoke russian because it was linked to her country. And english, thanks to both her parents. Nicolas and Alexandra were both linked to the british royalty. Nicolas and Georges V were cousins because there mothers were both Danish princesses. On the other hand, Alexandra's Mother, Alice was Queen Victoria's daughter. So she and Georges were also cousins. Alexandra's mother died when she was young, so she was raised by Queen Victoria in England. At Russia, Alexandra used to speak english with her daughters who were reluctant to learn german. Anna spoke perfectly german, so it doesn't match. 4: she was not recognize by all the royals that came to visit her. 5: royals took care of her (those who belived she was Anastasia). She managed to learn some insightfull knowledge of the family. The Romanov family was one of the most photographed family in Europe, so she learn things to thanks to photos. 6: it is not linked to her, but a lot of pretenders. A lot of people, more than 20, tried to convince the world that they were Olga or Tatiana or Maria or Anastasia or Alexis. Even some tried to convince that they were their descendants. It does not help to believe someone when other pretenders are telling differents stories. I think that she was a woman who had nothing to do with it. She could be easily manipulated and at the end I think she believed she truly was Anastasia. Also, the ones who recognized her as Anastasia, and it is my theory, were maybe so sad, that they blinded themselves trying to find hope that maybe, someone survived the massacre.

I see people are focusing on her rude behavior, but if you think about it, impostor or not whether she was really Franziska or Grand Duchess Anastasia, it's obvious she was sick. She had struggles with her mental health. The filthy condition of her house could be because she was suffering from extreme depression and did not have the energy to do anything. I know for a fact that when depression strikes it's torture to get up to even brush your teeth, let alone clean up a whole house. The many animals she kept with her are signs that she was lonely and again, terribly depressed. So, impostor or not, we have to acknowledge that she was sick and probably very confused.

She looks nothing like Anastasia what so ever and if she was who she said she was her husband wouldn’t have spoken to her in such a fashion a specially on film And to tell the truth knowing who she was that marriage would have never taken place no matter what she either had to have been there right up till they were separated or she worked in the palace strange that she would have been paid if she worked there it’s disgusting that she pretended to be Anastasia it brakes my heart ❤️

I remember first watching this In Search Of episode, which was first aired in the 1970s, a few years back. I was amused how Leonard Nimoy thought there would be know way to know the true identity of Anna Anderson. This was well before DNA testing. That said, I am still surprised the Tsar's physician's granddaughter still is convince Anna Anderson was Anastasia.

@@manonyme7242 Marina Botkina Schweitzer is the granddaughter of the physician who was executed along with the Romanovs, you just don't hear about him so much, and even less about the maid and footman executed too.
