The way I see it, Solidus was more of an anti-villain. Some people might confuse him as an anti-hero, but an anti-hero is usually selfish, like, he might do the right thing, but only for his own personal gain or interest. Like Kratos in the first 3 God Of War games. He does the right thing, but only out of vengeance, and he sacrifices innocent lives along the way without a care. An anti-villain is more like a bad guy with good intentions. His ultimate goal is a noble one, but his methods of achieving it are questionable, like sacrificing innocent lives for the greater good and whatnot. Solidus is by no means selfish, he wants to free everybody from the patriot's control, but his methods are indeed questionable.

Not for me because Armstrong have a very extreme version of Liberty where the strongest (with raw power, money...) will shape the world and won't be stopped by laws or social convention for their will be created by them. If you want the law to be on your sides be stronger than them (that how i see it) While Solidus was mostly freedom for all (and armstrong system doesn't guarantee freedom if you don't have the strengh or money to secure it). So both probably won't agree. And fight on the top a Metal Gear.

Killing Raiden's parents sounds villainous. But, it's unclear if they were enemy combatants. He did spare Raiden, after all, which implies he wouldn't kill children. Then there's the killing of Olga. But in that case she was a traitor siding with the Patriots. Yes, I know. She had no choice, because they took her child. But that wasn't really Solidus's problem. I think George was a true patriot and hardened by war and his own traumatic origin. Not a nice guy, but people shaped by war rarely are. Knowing the Patriots were the actual villains, it's hard to think him as a complete villain.
@bigboss93372 жыл бұрын
I believe he wouldn't kill children because he wanted to pass his memes on to them, whereas its much harder to do that with an adult since they have already formed their beliefs and morals. If anything, Solidus is just like Armstrong: To fight for your own freedom, no matter what it takes. You can't necessarily blame the antagonists of MGS for the mess throughout the games since, they are being controlled by the patriots.

Solidus is as much a bad guy as the Boss was, or Big boss, hell even Solid Snake. I think Eli managed to be the closest to an actual bad guy, and we all know that Liquid had his own motivations that cast his actions in a different light.

That picture in the very beginning is not solidus, it's Jim Houseman. He's the minister of the department of the defense.

soldius was a pretty cool character with a very good voice actor. too bad the later games pretty much never mention him or give him any other backstory (although rising does but in a sort of weird way)

I guess its to symbolize the victory of patriots over him, he wanted to be remembered, but the patriots took away that chance from him

Solidus is the most under-rated character in the franchise. It would have been really cool to get a prequel game with him.

Mostly. The main villains are usually given enough backstory to understand and sympathize with why they're doing what they're doing. Sub-villains unfortunately don't always get the same treatment outside of maybe MGS2, and Skullface doesn't stack up to the rest but I'm willing to excuse that on the grounds of the production of MGSV being a fucking mess. But yeah on the whole you're generally right

I'm very curious if you ever got into Zone of the Enders since you really adore Kojima's and Araki's mind.
@huzai70837 жыл бұрын
oh yeah, im considering playing zone of the enders but i wanna know do i have to play both of the games to get the full story context or is it enough from the second game. i heard the first game was pretty subpar
@zadoulo27507 жыл бұрын
If you're going to play the port version, I would suggest getting the PS3 HD copy and download the new update for it. The first game is pretty subpar but the game is relatively really short so I recommend you play that first. You don't really have to play the first game but it's very useful to grasp what world ZOE really is and some information that occurred in the first game really build up the moment in the second game. But you don't have to.
@fissionmailedsuccessfully6 жыл бұрын
I have a soft spot for ZoE but it isn't nearly on the same level as Metal Gear. Kojima is great at what he does and he's my favorite video game man but ZoE's only good if you're into the gameplay - the story is style over substance and I feel like the series died before it really had the chance to blossom like Metal Gear did. (this is coming from a big fan of both games btw)

So basically you work for the Patriots when you're not playing as Big Boss. Wouldn't that technically mean you were the bad guy when you thought you were the good guy and vice versa?

Solid Snake is responsible for the destruction of the patriots. He's the only one who actually breaks free. That's essentially what he does in Mgs4. Mind you, mgs4 was not supposed to happen, but it did.
