Was Sridhara Acharya of the quadratic equation from Bengal?
The answer is - probably not. In the ancient times, there were two Sridhara. One lived in the 8th century and was a mathematician. He composed the formula for solving quadratic equations among other things. The second one was a philosopher who lived in the 10th century. He wrote 'Nyayakandali' - which is a commentary on another book called Padartha-Dharma-Sangraha. The philosopher Sridhara was born in Bengal, probably in the modern-day Hooghly-Howrah district.
This video chronicles my journey to find out about Sridhara with video/audio clips of the places I visited and the people I talked with. This is just not the end of the journey. This is just the beginning! I got a lot of help and encouragement from many people on this journey. Thanks to all of them.
