Was the Devil involved? | Serge-Thomas Bonino, OP

This paper presents the traditional teaching about the role of the devil in the original sin of our first parents (1). Then, based on Saint Thomas, it considers the proto-original sin, namely Satan's fall, and especially focuses on the influence of Satan’s sin on the sin of the other demons, which it's interesting to compare with Satan's causality on the sin of the first parents (2). It presents Satan's role in Adam’s original sin (3). Finally, in a fourth and final section, it offers some thoughts on the consequences of original sin as they relate to the devil (4).
