Hey David, I read your bible commentaries to learn. The depth helps fill the background for me. I don't like denominations but if you had to, you could call me a seventh day adventist. I love God, thats all. Everything but one thing you say, i believe. I see people being blinded by Sunday which was made by man SUN DAY. God never asked us to break any of the commandments, so why break the Sabbath? The ritual sacrifices are gone but why not keep the Sabbath day? Break one, break all right? This comment usually stuns people. What commandment did Jesus nail to the cross? We all have our own journeys and I wouldn't force anyone to keep it. God opens the eyes of some more than others and not because we are better. The removal of the 4th commandment for Sunday has brainwashed everyone not to keep his holy commandment for nearly 2000 years. Don't kill?? Don't steal, ok??It also says to keep the Sabbath holy. This is my view is the biggest trick and attack the devil has pulled. I will continue your comentaries bible studies and your videos, ty

Thanks for your kind words about the commentary being a blessing to you. That's fantastic. Here is a link to Colossians chapter 2. May I invite you to read through it, and take note about what Paul teaches the church regarding observing the sabbath. I hope that it helps. Please feel free to respond on this thread if the you have any further questions. Blessings in Jesus! enduringword.com/bible-commentary/colossians-2/

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Hey David. I'm David as well. I took you up on the offer to read Colossians 2. So I believe in celebrating the Sabbath, so lets break this down. Your commentaries are great as far as depth in investigation and I appreciate them as long as they are, lol. This is what I think about what Paul said about not judging about food and drink and any holy day and Sabbath days. This is where people get confused and sometimes I wish Paul never wrote that, lol because it's made many go astray in different ways. Context is important to read before and after that verse to better understand. That goes with any chapters. Nowhere in that verse does it say not to celebrate the Sabbath. If Paul or Peter or John didn't want us to celebrate that day, don't you think they would have made a bigger deal of it? It says not to judge but it doesn't say don't do it or its a choice. You must ask yourself this: Why is Paul needing to come back to debate on the next Sabbath days? He says, I debated with them 3 Sabbath days. That points to the importance of that day. We aren't supposed to break the TEN COMMANDMENTS right? I live by them but of course I break them with lust of the eyes and so forth. You know not to murder or steal which is following Jesus commandments. If we follow those, why wouldn't we naturally follow the only day of rest which is the 4th commandment? You can thank Rome Vatican for doing that in switching the Sabbath day from Saturday to Sunday in the year 321. Personally David, I try not to judge others by not doing so. Satan attacked successfully Gods only holy day of rest. Break one break all. The Sabbath day was never made void. What Paul means is the other stuff like animal sacrifices because Jesus was the sacrifice, God bless him. We no longer need to do animal sacrifices. God's eyes search the earth unceasingly. No individual is better than another, I understand. I know Jesus paid the price already. In my own view, its a sign of loyalty to him to celebrate it. If you can show me specifically where it says not to celebrate the Sabbath day and to break a commandment, please indicate.

1) Nowhere in Scripture is there any hint that Sabbath-keeping was commanded from Adam to Moses-for thousands of years. 2) Sabbath observance was a special sign between God and Israel: “The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested” (Exodus 31:16-17). In Deuteronomy 5, Moses restates the Ten Commandments to the next generation of Israelites. Here, after commanding Sabbath observance in verses 12-14, Moses gives the reason the Sabbath was given to the nation Israel: “Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day” (Deuteronomy 5:15). God's intent for giving the Sabbath to Israel was not that they would remember creation, but that they would remember their Egyptian slavery and the Lord's deliverance. 3) Whenever Christ appears in His resurrected form and the day is mentioned, it is always the first day of the week (Matthew 28:1, 9, 10; Mark 16:9; Luke 24:1, 13, 15; John 20:19, 26). 4) The only times the Sabbath is mentioned in Acts, the occasion is Jewish evangelism (Acts chapters 13-18). Paul wrote, “To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews” (1 Corinthians 9:20). Paul did not go to the synagogue to fellowship with and edify the saints, but to convict and save the lost. After Paul states, “From now on I will go to the Gentiles” (Acts 18:6), the Sabbath is never again mentioned in Acts. 5) Instead of suggesting adherence to the Sabbath day, the remainder of the New Testament implies the opposite (including the only exception to point 4, above, found in Colossians 2:16 -- "Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ." “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord” (Romans 14:5-6). “But now that you know God - or rather are known by God - how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable principles? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? You are observing special days and months and seasons and years” (Galatians 4:9-10). 6) On the first day of creation week, God separated light from darkness. God does that still as we meet each first day of the week for worship. 7) The Holy Spirit was poured out as the church met on the Day of Pentecost, which always falls on Sunday. Summary: The Sabbath was given to Israel, not the church. The Sabbath is still Saturday, not Sunday, and has never been changed. But the Sabbath is part of the Old Testament Law, and Christians are free from the bondage of the Law (Galatians 4:1-26; Romans 6:14). Sabbath keeping is not required of the Christian-be it Saturday or Sunday. The first day of the week, Sunday, the Lord's Day (Revelation 1:10) celebrates the New Creation, with Christ as our resurrected Head. We are not obligated to follow the Mosaic Sabbath, resting, but are now free to follow the risen Christ, serving. The Apostle Paul said that each individual Christian should decide whether to observe a Sabbath rest; it is no longer a law: “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” (Romans 14:5). We are to worship God every day, not just on Saturday or Sunday. Note the requirements for Sabbath-keeping: A person placed under that Sabbath law could not leave his home on the Sabbath (Exodus 16:29), he could not build a fire (Exodus 35:3), and he could not cause anyone else to work (Deuteronomy 5:14). If you want to do those things, fine. But you can’t force those on others. BTW, an Israelite breaking the Sabbath law was to be put to death (Exodus 31:15; Numbers 15:32-35). That’s definitely something you’re not allowed to do, Sabbath-keeper.

@@FRN2013 The weekly sabbath was written by Gods own finger + instituted on the 7th day of creation. Paul doesnt have the authority to overthrow it. It will never go away. Pastor David,…regarding your explanation of slavery, I was understanding and tracking you just fine till you got to Ex. 21:26. Then,..I get confused. It says “He who kidnaps a man and sells him…..surely be put to death”. So the ‘seller’ is to be put to death. But then, I go to Ex. 12:44 where it says “But every man’s servant who is bought for money…may eat it”(Passover). Here, the ‘buyer’ of a slave is not punished. So, ..the seller dies, but the buyer lives? Am I accurate?🤷♂️

THE LAW WAS GIVEN TO IMPRISON EVERYTHING UNDER SIN, SO THAT THE ONLY WAY OUT WOULD POINT TO THE SINLESS SAVIOUR- JESUS CHRIST
@amandasimmons147 Жыл бұрын
Psalm 19:The Perfect Revelation of the Lord 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward. 12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. 13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Galatians 3:Purpose of the Law 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. Hebrews 3:Failure of the Wilderness Wanderers 16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? 17 Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2 Peter 1 :The Trustworthy Prophetic Word 19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Thessalonians 2:Stand Fast 13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, 14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.. 2 Thessalonians 3: But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you. John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 1 Peter 1:The Enduring Word 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.”Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. Acts 5:32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” John 16:The Work of the Holy Spirit 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 1 John 2: Let Truth Abide in You 26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. 2 Corinthians 3:Glory of the New Covenant 12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech- 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as [b]by the Spirit of the Lord. Galatians 1:11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.

I understand your argument when it comes to slavery. And depending on how you define slave, I don't necessarily have a problem with it per se. Repaying a debt, fending off starvation, etc. But only when it comes to the rules for Hebrews. The rules for Hebrews were much softer than the rules for foreigners, and it's the rules for foreigners I have a problem with. It was the foreigner who was the actual lifelong chattel slave in the Bible. And it was generational which is even worse to me. You mentioned prisoners of war, which I agree was one of the most common way to become a slave at the time. But these weren't Israels enemies. These were people captured in other nations wars and sold to Israel as slaves. For life. And their children after them. Generation after generation. And they were owned as property. Able to be bought and sold. And debt, starvation, or volunteering for it doesn't explain that to me. Because it doesn't apply. What exactly did children born to slaves do to deserve to be lifelong chattel slaves? Or their children after them? To be honest, when I look to what the Bible says about slavery, I don't see what I would have expected it to say. That it's wrong, immoral, a sin or against the will of God. We're only told how to do it right? It's just kind of the opposite of what I would expect I guess. And for me, I just can't wrap my head around it.

TITHING IS NOT REQUIRED IN THE NEW COVENANT. Moses commanded Israelites to pay tithes to priests, but in the New Testament, all God’s people are priests. The tithe was only a law for ancient Israel. No one ever paid tithes in money. The tithe was only for those who owned livestock or farmland. It was for the priests to have food. There was no command to tithe from Adam to Moses-thousands of years. And there is no New Covenant command to tithe. Before Moses, tithing was only mentioned twice: 1. Abraham gave a tithe once. He was not commanded. 2. Jacob promised to give tithes. He was not commanded. In Acts 15, the Council decided which few OT laws the Gentile saints should observe so as not to offend the Jewish Christians. Even there, they said nothing about tithing. Yes, Jesus said once that the Jewish leaders should tithe… BECAUSE THEY WERE UNDER THE LAW OF MOSES THEN.
