I like it. Nintendo tends to do something wacky with each new console, could have been a donut shaped device that played square minidisks and was played exclusively with your eyebrows, but instead they realized they hit a home run with the switch and just went "Lets just make a better one."

So the Direct will likely showcase universal console features and launch titles, so you can look forward to that. Also, Nintendo planned to release this initial trailer later, but were forced to do it early due to leakers ruining the surprise. That’s likely why there’s a significant gap between the trailer and the upcoming direct. I feel like they were planning to release this trailer about a month later.

If you didn't notice there was 24 white lines at the start for Mario kart. That just means that the next Mario Kart will have 24 players instead of 12. Imagine coming in 24th place 🤭🤣

Nintendo was taking so long to announce Switch 2 I was genuinly starting to believe they would announce Nintendo Switch 3 first lmao I was expecting the hardware to be more colorful idk how I feel with the red and blue being just on the insides, but besides than that looks cool to me

Based on the new joy cons, it looks like there's a sensor on the side. The way the joy cons slide on the surface implies that one of the new gimmicks is to used them as mouse. This is very interesting since it can be useful for many games. Mario Maker games will benefit with the mouse. Tactical/strategy games can benefit. There are a lot of shooter games where players prefer mouse control. This can go from Call of Duty to Metroid Prime. Mouse can also be useful for point and click games like Ace Attorney games. If the specs from the rumors are correct, then the technical leap might be as big between N64 and Gamecube. The better performance will allow to do a lot of different gameplay that the original Switch can't do. Mario Kart 9 in this video already shows that instead of 12 players, it can go upto 24 players. The mayhem is something the Switch 1 can never do.

It's definitely hype for me, even with it mostly just being bigger in handheld mode, it's still more different and unique than most console sequels, so it's exciting for sure.

I have a feeling Nintendo planned to have this video go up in March, given the Direct date is in April, but felt pressed to release it early because of the leaks and people being unhappy with the… well, zero info. Dropping this with no fanfare definitely indicates something of a rushed reveal to me; not that I’m complaining, though! That said, I’m not surprised at all they’re doubling down on the Switch’s design, and just improving it further. The current one did - and continues to do - extremely well, and backwards compatibility is a great selling point to have upfront.

they show off a lot of the hardware changes in subtle but intentional ways. the extra plug slots, double charger ports, better stand, they do a zoom in and swivvle of the joycon to imply lack of drift, they briefly show off new buttons, they tease the mouse mode(no I'm not joking), and last but not least they show off the new magnet thingies inside the switch to connect joycons too. obviously it's not the biggest exterior upgrade ever but a lot of the new stuff is on the inside anyways and also it allegedly has 7x the processing power so do with that what you will..... OH and also mario kart 9 soft reveal jumpscare or whatever

I honestly don’t have much of a problem with it looking similar to the Switch 1 because I feel like the original design wasn’t broken, so there’s no need to fix it. But I do really hope that the internals are MUCH more powerful because-in my opinion-the Switch 1 is giving pathetic in the year of our lord 2025, especially when compared to the competition. Looking forward to hearing more about it

The Switch 2 joycon controllers have an optical sensor on both of them (it's shown in the trailer) And according to the leaks they might be able to be used as a mouse or some other similar gimmick for this system (this was also shown in the trailer as the joycons running like MICE on the floor, 😆once attached to those grips) Might be something cool😮

Based on leaks that came out some days before this reveal, the system will supposedly have specs comparable to the PS4 Pro, along with advanced AI graphics upscaling. That would apparently put its graphical output at the level of an Xbox Series S. Final Fantasy VII remake and rebirth are the games also leaked to be coming to the console, so you can expect games of that level/quality to be possibly available for it. All that sounds great for a handheld system! These leaks are supposed to be solid, (as lot of the leaks turned out to be true) but as always, take it with a grain of salt. (and I've not personally compared the actual numbers, but this info seems reasonable considering the Switch 2's competitors) Huge if true, if not, we'll just have to hope that the games we get, make it up in the gameplay department. We'll just have to wait and see the sort of Nintendo games we get for it as well. (Though thinking about how long they've taken to release this system, I expect they have some good stuff lined up)

I'm excited about the Switch 2! I kind of wish it had a more unique name like the other consoles, but I guess it's fine. I'm worried that the usb(?) thing that the joycons will plug into could break if you push them too hard.

tough start to 2025 for me, I've fallen way waaay behind on your videos. big plans for me this year though, just gotta wade through some thick mud first. But yeah, Switch 2 looks fine. I never had one cos I thought the specs were behind at the time of launch- never mind now. Like buying a basic iPhone 12 in 2024 and wanting it to last 10 years. Hopefully this one has a bit more juice under the hood and will give us lots of longevity with the entire Switch library for years to come, which'd make it worth buying for me at last.

If the rumours about it being on par with a PS4 pro are true, and the price is reasonable (unlike other recent console updates COUGH PS5PRO COUGH) its a day one for me. I play handheld in my home away from my tv quite abit, but also i've gotten a few more demanding games such as Wolfenstein2, Borderlands3, Hyrule Warriors2 and BOTW/TOTK. Let alone the next Xenoblade which is the big openworld one. I so want them all to be optimised for the more powerful switch 2 (hopefully) and enjoy them like that🙏🙏🙏 I don't even play animal crossing, but doesn't it have quite a few loadscreens? Hopefully it gets a patch to make that more managable for switch2 aswell

the redesigned joycons are actually very important - the rails are a weak point in the current switch's design due to needing to support frequent attachments/detachments (and failing to do so properly; Nintendo used to make Quality Hardware but of late it's just been... cheap)

I'm guessing 2x Mario (Kart and the next Galaxy/Odyssey/etc), Metroid and Pokemon Legends ZA are either launch titles or first-three-months, plus at least one big remaster (no Zelda at launch? Perfect time for the Wind Waker port!). The conventional thinking based on rumor for a while was that they were trying to stockpile them to avoid scalpers/shortages, but that was a while back now so the release still being so far in the future feels odd. I wonder if one of the launch games is having a rocky development and it's easier just to hold everything than risk the bad press of not have one of them? Gamefreak is on a hiring spree, allegedly, so maybe Legends ZA isn't up to snuff? I guess we'll find out! All the dates for the experiences make this so clearly no earlier than End of May / June, which like... Girl that's so far in the future, what are we doing here, surely the bits and bytes have been bitten by now. Not that I'm really complaining, more time to put the money aside I suppose!

Yeah it really was not exactly the most exciting reveal of anything. Kinda felt like it was made to impress the big money company people more than the actual customers. If that makes sense. Mostly I've just been seeing people focus on the little bit of DK apparently having a slightly new design, though. As for me, my initial thoughts were this: "Oh, hey. So they finally announced the "Switch 2" as being a thing. That's cool and groovy and groovy and cool. But, what I want to know is... Did they fix the damn joystick drift problem that can happen with the controllers?" Cause let me tell ya, having the drift in the right joycon certainly makes controlling the camera so you can see where you're going and what's happening a thing. Especially in games that don't let you fiddle around with the sensitivity of the camera's ability to swoosh around, so instead it'll give you a good look at the ground, and to the right. Sometimes to the left. But always, always the ground. ...Funny thing is? Having to fight the camera did in fact cause me to find a shiny pokemon hiding up in a tree one time while playing 'Violet' version. It wasn't a pokemon I liked, but it was a shiny that I caught anyway.

Sure a more powerful switch is welcome, and if they can make the games look better on my 4k tv I'll be happy, but Nintendo was always known for the innovation, and I'm not feeling innovation from the Switch 2... @ its like the console (not joycons, CONSOLE) has two naked lightning chargers stuck to them that you need to rely on for the system to work. I’m sure most switch 2’s will break in 2 months tops and need replacement. Especially cuz the joycons are magnetic now so you’ll need to remove the joycons by tilting them out breaking the charger chips over time. I think Nintendo absolutely know what they’re doing here and are trying to get people to buy trash. It’s such a downgrade from the current system
