The release of the original Switch was a stroke of genius on behalf of Nintendo. Instead of releasing just before Christmas (as usual for the games industry), they released it in the middle of the year, let streamers show it off to generate buzz and give the console enough time for more games to emerge. Then the hypetrain arrived just in time for Christmas, when they released a load of deals and games bundles that came out with the Switch.

I feel we are underestimating just how unusual for Nintendo to make a console sequel. No weirdness like the Wii's successor had and calling it the Wii U. Just a straight up upgrade and normal sounding sequel name. Every strange gimmick they had to come up with every single time and after so many decades here we are. It's almost unreal its playing out this way.
