Those ‘FACT’ pifs before movies used to scare the hell out of me. What’s worse, it even had an older sibling of sorts in the ‘Carlton’ screen advertising branding iron.😂 My sister and I loved the show as kids, I can still remember being literally red with envy as she found a ‘Blossom plush’ in our local Woolworths. The comic book was awesome too.

The Carlton Screen Advertising ident is what it always reminded me of - both creeped me out at the time. I guess loud, threatening branding irons were just in fashion for advertising back then. 😆

This is one of my favorite animated films Personally the fact that this was an origin story and the daek tone didnt really bother me since the execution is what helps this film Man cartoon network made some banger films Honestly i can see this working as a triple feature with Dexter's lab ego trip and my life as a teenage robot escape from cluster prime

The movie contrasts very much from the show, but I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. Did they overdo it? Maybe, but I'd argue the spirit of the show is still there. It's still a lot of fun and genuinely cute in places. Just look at the girls when they're playing tag at Pokey Oaks before everything unfolds. That is genuinely adorable... So I say, good movie, I give it points for trying something different, even if it occasionally goes a bit overboard.

I have nothing but respect for Craig when he considers "The Powerpuff Girls RULE" to be more akin to what he'd want from a Powerpuff Movie. It really is "Peak PPG" and there's a lot to appreciate from both of these takes. I feel like Powerpuff girls shines most when there are those serious/grim stakes. Many a time in the OG show they were threatened with dramatic lighting and deadly scenarios, and I feel like by default if the movie HAD a villain it'd HAVE to be Mojo! So with that in mind they'd need a scenario where he could be taken seriously as a threat and I think they found it. Even though he was formidable in the series he never really struck FEAR often. And the good thing is even if he was threatening here his voice and expressions made him all sorts of charming and amusing even at his most victorious!
@mober7430Ай бұрын
Oh you think it contrasts with the show? Have you ever seen the episode seen the episode where they went into the future and everyone was FLIPPING DEAD! So yeah, I dont think so. And yeah tbh I like the darker tone for the movie. Literally every episode with HIM.
@TECH097Ай бұрын
@@mober7430 To be fair, even Craig believed that he went a bit too far with the tone of the movie in hindsight, so it's not like there's NO difference between the overall tone of the movie and the OVERALL tone of the series.
@TECH0972 ай бұрын
I actually really like the contrast in this movie's tones. All of the sweeter and softer scenes occur when The Girls are allowed to be girls, and fully vulnerable with The Professor or "Jojo". When it came to the world around them it was all sorts of clear that this city was kinda a cesspool from Frame 1, and having that dour setting be where these girls thrive to clean it up by the end is actually a very uplifting and reasonable message when essentially all they needed was both love to thrive and the ability to use their gifts that they were born with.

This movie has aged so well and this came out back in 2002. Way better quality and animation that most of the crap we get nowadays. That’s kind of sad.

There's still good animated movies that come out nowadays. Even if a movie is bad, it still has some good animation.

The scene where the Girls tried to tell Proffesor Utonium that they never meant to help Mojo build his monkey army, only for him to tell them he doesn't know who to believe and ending it with "I thought you were good" and they scream "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" as they fly up to the Asteroid Belt still gives me goosebumps.

Awesome review, I loved this movie way back when, it's a shame I never saw it in the cinema because, now you mention the box office figure it made, I'd have loved to have been in the small number of people who saw it on the big screen. I have been binging a lot of your stuff and I feel like I owe you an apology. Years and years ago, on a previous account of mine, I was watching your top 10 videos, your PIF ones, and I left a comment about your humour, because, you never spoke back then, you would put your commentary as words on a black screen which I think I mentioned I personally thought didn't work. Now hearing you and the humour you have, it's great commentary and really relatable, like we grew up with the same kind of cartoon memories, and I love all the PIF stuff too. After watching your stuff again, that comment I made stuck with me and I feel bad for posting it, but, the work you do now is phenomenal. And as you're about to hit 10k subs, congratulations! Can't wait to see more of these. That V Birds segment unlocked a memory, I remember that interview where they compare themselves to the other girl groups of the time. All the best mate.

No worries - I’ve spoken about this before in my Q&A video, but I was a lot younger when I made the Top 10s and lacked the confidence to do voiceover at the time, so my thoughts/humour could have been interpreted in a lot of different ways with just text. I’ve mellowed out a lot since then and I try to be more relatable now, so I’m glad it shows in my more recent videos where I mix up my adult observations with my sillier kid thoughts. Appreciate it! 😊

Well I never heard of the V-Birds until now, To me this is the Best Cartoon Network Movie of all Time, Second being the Regular Show Movie, it’s the Perfect Balance Between Action, Mature Themes, Comedy, and Over the Top Story Telling which is how the Powerpuff Girls show be portrayed, I get the Creator wanted to do Less Action and More a Silly Slice of Life but I don’t think it would have worked, if anything it would’ve ruined the Franchise More if they took that Direction I mean just look at the 2016 Reboot as it did that and Failed and I’m glad CW never got their hands on them, as a Powerpuff Girls Fan I love this Unique Origin Story as it shows how Mojo Jojo and the Girls Created Each Other as this battle between Siblings that are Opposites and it shows that the Girls have Flaws which makes them Relatable and shows how the became the Heroes they were made to be, 10 out of 10, this is one of my All Time Favorite Movies that I would rewatch as much as I can but it also shows be one of the Best Superhero Movies that has Aged like Fine Wine and it becomes even better as Each Year Passes.

I remember the VBirds. And Crusha. Edit: I don't mind the movie being darker, but they went too far in trying to appeal to the boys and it upset the balance. PPG was made for everyone, and it did appeal to everyone.

Oh, and during the destroyed school scene while it's under reconstruction, I couldn't go through it for one minute 'cause it scared the pants off of me, especially by how all of the students glared at the girls so fiercely like that. The animators of the movie did a very good job animating the rage in the eyes of the students which is very scary, and who is able to have school under reconstruction anyway? It's downright ridiculous and very dangerous, and nobody couldn't focus on their schoolwork at all due to the loud sound of the construction work and couldn't hear themselves think anyway.

I would say yes, the movie was too dark and it's very depressing as well. Also, even after all the girls has been through during the movie, they didn't even decide to accept responsibility for their own actions and attempted to blame each other for how things turned out rather than admit their actions, and I already know that I am so willing to admit my own actions. So, all of the girls are responsible for how things have turned out, and that's 'cause of their own recklessness with their powers and have no control over them at first, especially that they were far too young. Oh, and by the way, they shouldn't attempt to blame each other and at least should've reflect on their actions.

The sad thing is this a great movie and amazing origin story for the girls but because of when the film was released it ended up bombing in terms of ratings and cost Cartoon Network their own cinematic universe it's a real shame.

Great video. I know why THE POWERPUFF GIRLS MOVIE flopped. 1. 9/11. Those primates with capes and helmets look like the Taliban with their thrones and turbans. 2. Other movies. SPIDER-MAN, MEN IN BLACK 2, LILO AND STITCH, and STAR WARS EPISODE 2: ATTACK OF THE CLONES are no match for it. 3. Generation gap. Those who grew out of it lost interest. The young ones don't know who they are. 4. Too dark. 'Nuff said. 5. No cable. No Cartoon Network. Novice: Powerpuff Girls? What's that? Are they a marketing brand like Calvin Klein, Op, or Gucci? Fan: No, you meatball! It is a TV show on Cartoon Network! You need cable to get it. This was a great movie. It is a shame that it flopped. #FantasticFlop
